Great Food, Great Server Livia, great atmosphere, great location, and cleanliness was great. But for my wife's and I anniversary I wanted to play the junk box at 4:45 PM on March 10, 2026, to play Music Groups, Aerosmith, "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing", and Savage Garden, "I Knew I Loved You". So I approached the juke box, and the bar tender Whoever said, that this is a family-owned restaurant, and they don't play the juke box during the day, because it is a family restaurant, but they have the Game Room, playing crude country music that doesn't respect the family, and they say my music is going make trouble. Plus they can have restricted stuff from not playing, instead, I felt singled out as a guest there. Yes, you can have your double standard rules, because this is America, and the freedom to do whatever you feel like, but that does not mean I have to go there to be singled. I don't have to go back there. The first time was great in January, but on my wife and I anniversary of 26 years, I think I can find a place where I feel more welcomed. It is always the case of passing a great place down through the family, in order for it feel unwelcomed of the glory days. Yes, I know this place has been around since the 1990's, but it is a very unwelcoming place. You can act nice, while showing you didn't want us there. They said it was because Karaoke was at 7PM, while a minute song at 4:45PM. While they didn't even know what songs I was going to place. Again, I thought it would be an old-fashioned feel. Thus instead, I felt the Cold Ridged Religious Feel that was a double standard of Gambling Rooms and so forth. Yes, I went to seminary and everything else, but I am going to let everyone choose their own path. They have their ridged rules, but that does not mean I have to eat there, especially for anniversaries. It is not an anniversary or a place for specially occasions. Again, it doesn't bother me one bit, because I move on, but I am raised with certain values to tell what I believe. My wife felt the onion soup was too breaded and cheesy. They had a great Salad and Gluten Free Pizza. And the bathrooms are clean when I went in there, but I don't feel welcomed there. Like you're a stranger that should never return. Might not look like much from the outside, but this place makes great food. The spicy bourbon bbq burger was exceptional. Cajun chicken Alfredo was actually fairly authentic (we are from NOLA). Portions were great. Homemade fries were a treat. Service was very good. Highly recommend. read more

This place is large, both inside and outside it looks like. We sat inside and there's a massive bar and looks to be the place to be in Wheeling. There also seems to be a large outdoor patio, which would be a nice option for good weather! We got a mix of things...hot pepper cheese balls which were fantastic. The chili was really good and I loved all the toppings. Then we ordered these baskets which were wings and pierogies. You can get them both tossed in different sauces so we did a little toss action. If you are rolling down I-70 through the little sliver of West Virginia between Ohio and Pennsylvania, then just know that Wheeling has plenty to offer. You can find a chain at which to eat - OR - you can choose to visit family-owned establishments to satisfy your food and drink appetites. Generations is just such a place. I stumbled in here looking for a cold beer and some great local fare. Lucky me, because I found both, plus wonderful local company to go along with an outstanding regional vibe. Amazing sight-lines from the bar with a screen in almost any direction, perfect for sports and entertainment in close to 360°. Beer on tap ranges from national brands (yawn) to local options, so I ordered up an 'Almost Heaven' from Mountain State Brewing, because West Virginia. Also: shout out to you John Denver fans that would recognize the connection. It was malty & sensational, with a color that belies the 'heavenly' part. I was in coal country and some Polish fare was clearly in order. I did a plate of pierogies, the traditional potato dumplings sautéed in butter with onions, and a handful of wings. The pierogies were SPECTACULAR, done just right and plump with potatoes & cheese, while the wings were the perfect complement. Pro tip: get the dry rub, the 'Gen's Wing Dust', and savor the flavor. Not too messy and not too spicy, and tempered handily with a little touch of bleu cheese or ranch. When coupled with cold beer, this is a perfect football platter, so what channel has the local team? West Virginians are proud folk and with good reason. Generations has a solid array of local memorabilia and photos of yesteryear, so take a gander around the premises to see what you can find. The owner/manager is inexplicably a *Raiders* fan (I know, huh?), but if there is a Steelers or Mountaineers event happening, then you can be sure this place will be hopping. First time giving this place a try and must say I was impressed. The building doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you're inside it's hard to believe. It's huge, has an entire stage setup inside, has a big bar area with big screen TV's, two separate dinning areas inside as well as a deck outside for seating and entertainment. We were greeted and seated right away. Our waitress was friendly and attentive throughout our time there. The menu was quite big and had a good selection. I went with the grilled pub steak with white cheddar mac and cheese and the redskin mashed potatoes. The steak was a little tough, but tasted good and the sides were both delicious. We got the Sweet Thai Chili boneless wings. Nice crunchy, chunks of breast meat, good Thai sauce, made for a great app. I got the Sweet-N-Spicy Bourbon BBQ Burger Blackened seasoning, Jim beam and bourbon glaze infused sauteed onions, Pepper Jack, peach bourbon BBQ sauce, lettuce and tomato. Of course, bacon was added as usual. Everything worked together, burger was cooked perfect for me. Everything a burger fiend like me needed. A side of crunchy onion rings, dipped in Ranch. The food was incredibly disappointing. How do you screw up nachos? I dont know, but they did it. The pierogies werent very flavorful. I mean, maybe that's because im a bit picky or something. But still. I should be able to sense the cheese and flavors, not the temperature you reheated it with. Other than the food, the service was wonderful. Definitely worth passing up the usual chain restaurants at the I-70 exits and taking a couple of minutes to get to Generations. Extensive menu with many gluten-free choices. I had the pleasure of working in the area, on night shift, for a while and found this establishment through a search for a restaurant that served lunch/dinner early. Well, they open at 9AM and serve their full menu, and bar, starting then. I have tried multiple items on their menu over the past few weeks and I still have not found something that I can honestly say wasn't amazing! My go to is their pizza logs, which I am told pre-made sadly, but their in house ranch dip is an amazing compliment to the appetizer. It was a very comforting environment with very attentive waiters/waitresses as well as bartenders. The nice part is, is even though the bartender may get pulled away, the manager on shift is ready and willing to step in and assist readily! read more

We received a Friendly greeting once we walked in!! Looks like a hopping place in the nice weather and probably on weekends as there is an outdoor stage and patio. There is also an indoor stage. Their menu is extensive and it includes gluten free buns and wraps along with cauliflower pizza crust. I chose the Georgia Ruben but in a gluten free wrap. Instead of corn beef it was turkey. Good menu, good service, and one of the only places in Wheeling that is actually open on a Sunday! We were in the area for a dance competition and really wanted a place that wasn't just serving pizza. The food was great -- I had a salad and my girls had chicken tenders and fries, which were delicious. It was clearly a place for locals, but had that homey feel and we liked the casual atmosphere. Was passing through wheeling and wanted to try somewhere I hadn't been. Place is very big. Was seated quickly and service was prompt. It's basically a big bar but has a huge menu. Burgers my wife had was very good. I tried the chili and thought it was some of the best I've had. Onion rings were good and the wings were crispy tasty and meaty which is a great combination. Also got some zucchini that they served with marinara, I think it's way better with ranch or just salt and eat plain. And I did try a fried pierogi. Not bad. read more

My friend used to work at generations and she has told me everything that happens behind the scenes. To start of, the lettuce for the salads stays in a bucket, in the back of the kitchen, and employees just reach in with their bare hands to grab as they need it. No gloves or any sanitizing at all is used. That is the salad that is served everyday. Several times things will fall on the ground and be quickly picked up and still used for the orders. Servers, cooks and managers will "Snack" out of people's plates before them being sent out. The managers are all related except for one. The owner's daughter smokes weed in the poker room on the weekends when her dad is not in because there are no cameras. She also smokes it on the deck. Her and her Girlfriend make a lot of other servers uncomfortable with the way they "express their affection " in the middle of the day during their shift. Several servers/managers Vape in the kitchen and throughout the restaurant, not caring about other people. The one manager who is not related to the owner is racist. When my friend was working there she witnessed him being racist towards cooks and to servers who were not white. He is also a perv, treats the girls really well and stares at them when they are not looking. This happened to my friend several times. The owner's dad, an old guy who is always in the restaurant harasses employees on a daily bases. He is racist towards the black workers and called servers fat pigs before. He also "accidentally " touches the women servers inappropriately and pretends like it never happened. Once again, that happened to my friend. Complains are made to the managers and the owner about everything and nothing is ever done. Mostly because they are all relates so they just keep it to themselves. It is a very toxic environment. That is the reason my friend does not work there anymore, she got tired of filling complaints and never getting the situation resolved. It is sad to see that a restaurant that used to be a go-to spot in wheeling is now becoming the shadiest restaurant in wheeling. Hope they can start doing better. read more

Wow. If you are in town, this is a must!!! We arrived and were greeted and sat quickly. Jill was our server and she was awesome!! Answered all of our questions and was always so positive. The food is divine. I thoroughly enjoyed my pizza. Gluten free crusts can be a hit or a miss and this couldn't have been any better!! The crust was not overly doughy; had the perfect mix of soft & crispy. The meats, cheese blend and red sauce all complimented each other so well. My brother enjoyed his wings and pierogis mix. A combination you never thought would work well but he really enjoyed it. The taco salad was bigger than my dad anticipated, but he still enjoyed every bite! The wraps was able to be done in a gluten free shell which my mom appreciated. She really loved the sweet potato tots. Another thing you don't see everywhere. The food was a highlight of the trip. Found generations last night for a late dinner. We didn't get to town till almost 9 pm and that's when most places close around here. The menu was more than typical bar/pub food which is what attracted us to them. We were not disappointed. I had the Greek salad with steak tips and my daughter had the margarita pizza and some onion rings. Everything was fresh and tasty and the tips were cooked to perfection, meaty and delicious. We took all the food to go and ate it at the hotel but the restaurant was clean and well laid out properly distanced etc. the bar was well stocked with about 8 taps and plenty of TVs. The staff were very friendly and made this weary traveler feel right at home. This place has a great home town vibe that we will come back to the next time we are in Wheeling. read more
