This morning as I was dropping off my cat to get fixed at the Liberty Humane Clinic and that's when I noticed this cute pickle and olive shop across the street. Later that afternoon, before picking up my cat I decided to go inside. I wound up getting a few different items. Spices, chocolate covered pretzels, riced heart of palm, a garlic herb and oil blend, and some oil crackers. The had beautiful olive selection and a nice gourmet pickle section as well. I did sample one of the pickles and it was delicious but I was in a little bit of a time crunch. I believe I met the owner of the shop today and he was really kind and helpful. He was able to point out what was made in house and what was ordered for the shore and from where it came from. They also have an online store where you can order some of these products. As of now, there are some items you can't get on the webpage that are only available in the store, I already told my husband I would love to return in the near future. read more

Pickles here were pretty salty and soggy. I can overlook salty if the flavors were happening, but they weren't. They didn't stand out from the average jar of pickles I'd be able to buy from the supermarket or even generic brand from Walmart. That aside, I appreciated the kindness of the owner. He said I was allowed to try anything before buying. The freshly packaged candies looked tasty and were tasty. Unfortunately, Pickles are a little more difficult to keep up with as they have a shorter shelf life. I would come back if they made them less salty, more flavorful, and replaced them when the time is right. read more

Before going down the shore I decided to stop in and grab some pickles and olives for snacks and burgers! So glad I did. The workers are so friendly and helpful, you can try anything you'd like and they have samples out too. I was almost overwhelmed with all the options. For pickles I went with the original bread and butter and sweet and sour. Both delicious, crunchy and fresh. They have all sizes available too. Their olive selection is impressive, I went with regular black and red pepper stuffed. Both delicious too. Not a wilted olive in sight. They've also got some sweet treats, crackers, sauces, they've got it all. Even pickled garlic! I've been on the hunt for this for a while. It's delicious! So perfectly pickled you can barely taste the garlic. A new favorite. It's a great set up for a small space, they've done a great job with this store. I can definitely see myself coming back to try more olives and their imported pesto sauce I had my eye on. read more

When I first moved to Lyndhurst I'm pretty sure this place existed on Ridge Road (close to where Vinnie Mootz would eventually open and later close/move itself) and I was a fan. Then it had closed shop and they were slated to move elsewhere in town. (But never did.) Many years have passed and... now they're here (so long, tattoo parlor!). Just a few blocks from where they used to be. (Was I hallucinating the entire thing?!) This place is tiny (when my small family of four went in - we kinda filled it up immediately). It's really clean. It's really organized. The gentleman behind the counter (that's not really a counter) immediately jumped up to assist us and couldn't have been nicer with our wacky questions or offering nibbles of various pickles when we were trying to determine what to get. A nice selection of pickles. A serious selection of olives. As for the "Etc" - yeah, they offer everything from crackers, spreads, and pantry items (boy do I love those pickled lupini beans which I had to snag), to gift baskets and these massive 'cookies' that were as big and heavy as a welcome mat. A stone's throw from one of the busiest intersections in town - parking could be an issue. As someone who married into a Polish family (they take their pickles almost as seriously as their kielbasa) I wouldn't be giving 5-stars if it wasn't well-deserved. Absolutely love this place. The owners are so friendly and helpful, and the store is very neat and clean. I really like that every time I come here I'm in for a treat with some new items they hadn't had before. I have been seeing the signs of this opening up and could not wait to give it a try. My son and I love olives and pickles, and what a perfect place to open in our neighborhood. Everything i sampled, i took home with me and i wanted to try more but there is always next time. I took the grilled olives, castelvetrano olives, and the bread butter pickles home with me. Randomly walking down 43rd Street in Hells Kitchen after a long day back from scuba diving, I saw the Pickles Olives, Etc guys with their tubs of pickles. I had to have some! Seems like we were at the right place at the right time, because we were also treated to a pickle tasting. We got to try all of their varieties to see which ones we liked the best. Full sour, half sour (new pickles), hot full sour, kosher dill and horseradish. I was already full at the end of the impromptu tasting but I was definitely ready to invest in some pickles! The quality was great, fresh, crunchy and yummy! We opted for the hot full sour and the regular full sour pickles since we couldn't decide. Now, at $7 for a quart, it was a steal. He squeezed in a lot of pickles in that container! Now, my love for pickles has been quenched! So delicious and crunchy with lots of flavor. Oh and the hot full sour really is spicy! Wow, these are some serious pickles! I am in love with them. It was only by chance that we even discovered them. We finishing up a long day of scuba diving and were walking down the street from our local scuba shop, when we discovered their stand on 43rd street. Set up like a farmer's market, they had several tubs of pickles available for tasting and purchase. Indeed, showing a modicum of interest, we quickly found ourselves in the middle of a pickle tasting menu. We were soon debating the merits of each of the pickles, and there wasn't a whimper in the bunch. We eventually parted with a quart of pickles ($7.99) split between full sour and hot full sour. Let me safely say that the hot pickles are actually hot. It is so refreshing to get that fresh pickle taste with a blast of heat. They take great care to use a custom mix of hot, fresh peppers to infuse in their brine to really pull off the effect. It's wonderful! I find myself eating these daily now, and I want to stock up on a mix of flavors. Between the great customer service and the very low price point (compared to Williams and Sonoma for example), you really can't miss. Highly recommend! read more
