And they have just expanded the historic building to include a third theater, not to mention the garden behind the Lounge where we have seen a couple of films. It's always a treat when a show in Theater 1is preceded by organ music by Dennis Scott; he generally themes the music to the movie (ex: when we saw "Contempt" this weekend he said all the songs he played were from the year the film came out). They show everything: action, romance, foreign films, cult classics like "Rocky Horror," thrillers and suspense, indie films, documentaries, animation. Every Valentine's Day they show "The Princess Bride," and they do series like "Metal Movie Night," "Cat Video Fest," and "Sapphopalooza." The building itself is reason to go, particularly since it has been restored and new chairs were put into Theater 1 a couple of years ago. We have been in both Theaters 2&3 now since that more recent renovation and they also look beautiful and are very comfortable. Check out a movie and a piece of Chicago history at the same time!

This was my first time at Lifeline Theater. I went with a friend to see their production of…read moreFrankenstein. Very interesting adaptation of Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein". While the adaptation itself featured Victoria instead of Victor, the play remained faithful to the book. Ann Sonneville as Victoria was very good and convincing. The staging was imaginative and I loved the sets. The most impressive part of the production was The Monster....it was a puppet! Chris Hainsworth (Victoria's father), is literally turned into The Monster puppet onstage, with a helping hand from other cast members. As The Monster murders each one, they become a part of the puppet handling team. Well done. The theater itself was clean and very nice. Plenty of street parking on Morse (metered), although there is free parking several blocks away at a Sullivan High School. Lifeline Theatre is located at 6912 N. Glenwood and Sullivan High School is at 6631 N Bosworth Ave, so they offer a free shuttle service before and after the show for folks that want to park there for fee. We parked on the street, so no idea on how the shuttle was. If you don't want to drive, you are right by the Morse Street El station. What I loved about this theater was that it was cool in temperature. Usually small venues get hot due to the stage lights, but it seemed like they had the air on. Nice thing about that was that each seat had a blanket on the back of the chair in the event you got chilled during the performance. It was fun getting under the covers to watch a play, like watching live TV in bed. At the end of the performance, I got to meet Ann and some of the cast members as the friend I went with use to be her roommate and is also an actress. I got to meet Trent Davis (William). He was very good and very much a kid. He seemed happy that I recognized him from Chi-raq. I am going to keep my eye on this theater. As a small venture, they do it right and very professional. Interested to see what other productions they can roll out. Also nice that they are located around a couple of good bars and restaurants, so you can do dinner before the show or drinks afterwards. Definitely work keeping an eye out for future endeavors.

Two of us saw a matinee today for $9.80 (price before 5pm). Evening price is $12.68. Children under 12 are always $6.92. Prices include tax. On Tuesdays, all shows are $6.92. This means we can all finally go to the movies again without making it a major budgeting decision! Its a small theater, but a big screen so you definitely get the experience you want when you go to a movie. Concessions include freshly made popcorn, with a small going for $5 something. Combine with a small beverage for $8 something to get free refills. The best part is that it feels like a real, neighborhood theater. I can't remember the last time going to the movies felt l like 1) a friendly community event, and 2) a TOTAL bargain. Super friendly staff. Really clean space. Unexpectedly comfortable seats. From what I understand, they'll be making cosmetic improvements over time as the money becomes available. But its absolutely fine for seeing a movie right now. Take the red line or the bus to get there, but we found street parking really easily on a Saturday afternoon. (Might get tougher when Loyola students come back in the fall.) This place is great, and it's exactly what we needed in this neighborhood!

I never used to go to the theaters before because the prices had just gotten so out of hand and the service usually sucked but this place has me coming back almost every week. I also LOVE that they do throwback movies & early releases of movies as well. This place is very nostalgic and makes it well worth it to get back in the movie theaters.

Walking in, multiple people greet you at the bar (drinks are donation-based and not fancy, per se, but you can get Kirkland brand wine or a local beer, so that's fine!). My ticket's barcode refused to print, but they found my ticket quickly. The stage itself is completely overlapping with the seating. In other words, you sit onstage: it's all one level. The seats, at least when I went, are all one row deep. It is great for short people like me, because we don't have to look over people in front of us. It is also great for tall people, who don't have blocked legroom of any sort (unless you have to pull in some long limbs if the actors are close enough to you where they might trip!). There are two large, ADA-compliant bathrooms, including one within the stage/seating area! Despite being a tiny theatre without a ton of publicity, you can still see brand new plays and similar works, as well as well established plays that have been performed worldwide. There is a personal, inclusive touch here, which is great to see. It was nice that the artistic director welcomed us all before the show started and gave us information about other upcoming productions!

Cinemas Entertainment 10 is never too crowded nor too expensive compared to other cinemas that I have visited in the past. In fact, if you visit before the evening hours its a lot cheaper compared to visiting in the evening. Take note of that because depending on your age group it's a one to three dollar difference if you choose to watch your movie before the evening. As I share this review, I have only been to Cinemas Entertainment 10 only two times, which was to see movies 'Black Panther' and 'Avengers: Infinity War' on separate occasions. I have to say that my only complaints are the advertisements of movies that are currently out, which it's best to 'Google' Cinemas Entertainment 10 versus relying on their social media sites Facebook & Twitter because both are not up kept. I will let that one slide, and hope that a young social media savvy adult takes that position to keep us movie enthusiasts up-to-date.
