Okay, I'm a fan! Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. This place is small, so there is limited seating at the bar (I believe 4 seats), and maybe 6 or 7 tables (a mix for 2 and 4 people). I hate to say this because I wish it was better but I no longer like this restaurant I rather go to sushi house. The food isn't fresh, the fish never taste fresh and yummy. I went last night and the all the specials rolls had too much crab meat thrown on top and too much sauce on it. It was literally overwhelming and disgusting. We got the 4 special rolls for $48.00 and it was a pure disgust. The tables were sticky and while you were eating the waiter came to clean up before closing and took the soy sauce and sauce from the table and leaned over our food. Yumm yummy! Stopped at this place on a whim and decided to order sashimi, Yaki Udon with Miso Soup and Tempura Soup Udon. All were so fantastic. The sashimi was fresh and clean. Having lived and worked in Tokyo, there are times when we eat here that we want something that reminds us of what we use to have in Japan. Picnic Sushi is near this when you go. You walk inside and find you are in a place you have been before. You get a copy of the menu and you see a few pages of what you had in Japan and what we are use to here in the US. Some is the same and some is different. On this time the three of us decided we each wanted to unlimited order. For a total of $30 per person you can order an unlimited supply of anything and re-order as much as you wanted. And for the three of us this is something we can chose and compare. So from the list they hand to you gives you the ability to look and compare. To decide what to order and how much to order. Best, with the three of you doing the same you can even compare with each other. Take one selection and try together, If one does not like it the others can eat it all if they wish. And that is what we did. We had sushi and sashimi. We had a variety of rolls in all formats. We had something spicy and then something that was not. We has the special rolls such as the favorite rainbow roll and the tiger roll. We had a dragon roll as well. And don't forget the edamame, that is always something to have as you start a meal. Everything tasted fresh and well made. The spice was right. It was just the right size and taste as you ate the piece. Only the crab meet sushi and roll was not perfect this time. It was a version of crab but not the real thing. Even the shrimp sushi was pre-cooked when it is normally raw shrimp in some restaurants (and in Tokyo). We started the meal with the seaweed salad. Excellent. At the end of the meal we had our miso soup. This is typically served at the end of the meal and this is fine. We also had unlimited pots of tea during the meal. Of course, at the end we needed one more round of tuna rolls This is tradition and what we first tried the very first time we have in a Japanese restaurant. Overall Picnic is a good place. This place was surprisingly pretty busy! Came here for take out around 8pm and people were waiting outside to be seated. I ordered the fatty shrimp roll with a side of vegetable gyoza. The fatty shrimp roll was surprisingly pretty tasty and fresh. The whole roll came with about 6 pieces with big pieces of shrimp layered on top. The roll had thick slabs of spicy tuna with pieces of cumbers which made these few pieces pretty filling. The vegetable gyoza was decent, although I can't really tell what vegetables were inside. I also wish the skin wasn't cooked to THAT well - some of the gyoza had burnt skin which I normally don't mind, but this was definitely over done. I also tried my husbands sashimi which wasn't great- I've tasted a lot of sashimi before and this wasn't my favorite... it had an overly fishy taste where I had to wash my mouth after..and I can usually tolerate bad tastes in my mouth without having to wash it right after... It's hard to say how the service is since we only did take out but they were definitely efficient with getting the food out on time. My son and his girlfriend found this place some time back and we decided to try it for takeout. We called ahead to order several rolls which were ready for us when we arrived. When we got home we found one error in the order, substituting a roll for one we ordered. As my son takes out from them often they offered him a credit on his next order, which was acceptable to him. As to the food, I liked that all their rolls include 8 pieces rather than the usual 6 pieces (except for special rolls) you find elsewhere. The seafood was fresh and the spicy rolls had just the right amount of spice for this reviewer's palate. It's definitely a place to try if you like sushi. For an all you can eat spot this one takes the cake. One of the freshest and really delicious AYCE sushi places around. It's a very small restaurant with just a few tables inside. They also do ALOT of take out orders. They were pumping out platters of sushi while still serving their tables. My only complaint was that they seemed a bit overwhelmed with that and we had to wait a bit for some dishes. Their wonton soup was extremely flavorful and perfect for the cold weather. The sushi pizza was pretty solid as well, I'm not the biggest fan of crispy rice but it was very yummy. We got a few of their special rolls that didn't disappoint. I believe was one the tiger shrimp (must have) and we also ordered a bunch of nigiri. The rice was cooked perfectly and the fish was so fresh and delicious.
