I'm a longtime local foodie, and this has been my go-to sushi takeout spot for years. It seems like the chef -- possibly the owner -- has changed recently, because the sushi quality has improved noticeably. They've clearly upgraded the quality of their fish. I asked about the salmon, and they're now using Faroe salmon, which is known for its high quality. The fluke was also exceptionally fresh. If you're looking for a true high-end Japanese dining experience, sure -- you'll probably want to head into New York City and spend $250+ per person on an omakase meal. But if you want quality sushi in a relaxed setting at home, or you're hosting friends for dinner or a party, this place is honestly hard to beat. As long as you're not expecting a full omakase experience, this is a very legit sushi takeout spot with genuinely good-quality fish. read more

Used to like this place a lot ever since they opened the store, and shared this place with lots of my friends. but tonight, they messed up my order and accused us of lying, and tried to blame us for their mistake. I'm not sure why this cafe is rated so poorly. For the most part, I found prices fair and the owner to be extremely accommodating. I stepped inside 3:00 on the dot and asked if lunch special was still applicable and to my delight and surprised, he assured me I was. I told him my friend was still on her way and he reassured me that was completely okay. So after she finally got here, we both went on our merry ways of dining sushi, B (that was the actual name for the dish we ordered, haha). The dish comes with an assortment of sushi pieces, alone with 6 california pieces and another 6 of spicy tuna. My favorite was the fleshy, chewy white fish that I do not readily recognize. Just reviewing the quality of their sushi/sashimi. Had the 'pleasure' of trying out their food when a friend bought a party platter for a dinner with seven people. While I can't speak to the ambiance and service of the restaurant, the food was mediocre and could be much, much better. The fish was limp and while not bad, it was clearly not the freshest. I am a big fan of maguro (tuna) and theirs tasted like bargain sushi one would get from a Chinese takeout. Even the crab roll featured such overfried crab that it could have been fried anything and it would have tasted exactly the same. No nuance, nothing about the food to make it stand out. Miso soup was boring, tasted like something I would make at home (and that is not a compliment, believe me). Just your average non-authentic Japanese restaurant, offering food that could be much better in quality. read more

I only had takeout here, although they do have seating inside. But the way the place feels, I think it would be a bit weird sitting and eating there. Maybe it's just me. I think their sushi is tasty and I also like the shumai, miso soup and edemame (although it would be hard to mess that one up). They're always very nice, the platters are always laid out very well with all the little plastic, grass fences seperating them. They take their time with the visual and I think that's part of the fun of getting sushi. It's not just tasty but visually pleasing. I haven't tried their entire menu, but a good portion and I think the only thing I wasn't a fan of was their teriyaki selections. Went for Weekday Lunch Special Food - 4/5. Their rolls are delicious and have subtle Korean flavors in them. The sesame seeds on the California Rolls were roasted and the Spicy Tuna Rolls had a hint of Gochujang flavor to give it that mellow lingering spice. However the sushi wasn't as good. They are a bit on the smaller side and although they taste good the rice wasn't particularly molded well and the fish didn't have the "restaurant quality" taste I was hoping for. I would definitely recommend getting their rolls over their sushi. Service - 4/5. It is a small restaurant but the sushi bar staff are friendly. I'm not sure if it is self-service or not since there is a water dispenser but they brought it to me anyway. Value - 3/5. The prices are on the higher side for lunch. Lunch is affordable and the portions aren't bad either. The only main issue I have is with the delivery driver, an elderly man that seems to have issues with keeping his thoughts to himself, rather than spitting it out to paying customers. It's not like we dont tip him enough. He's always mumbling under his breath such as "I should get more" or he sighs and walks out the door. Unecessary behavior.
