This was...an experience to say the least. 1) The Wilderness, Wildlife, and Glacier tour was insanely overpriced. Get a rental car and do it yourself, you'll save a ton of money. We did the add on glacier cruise, could have booked it cheaper on our own. Again. Just do these things on your own. Trip started in Anchorage, drove us to the wildlife conservation center. We had about an hour there, so basically only time to watch the bears. We never even looked at the other animals just due to lack of time. Then we drove to the Portage Glacier Lodge for lunch that you pay for yourself, on our way we stopped at two spots to take pics, again places you could just stop at. Food was insanely overpriced. Then to the cruise, the cruise itself is an hour long and seeing the glacier is cool, but the ship and crew were the most rinky dink operation I've ever seen. 2) our tour guide locked the keys to the van inside the van. She did not even call to get help until over an hour after discovering the keys were locked inside. We had to wait at the lodge for almost 2 hours before someone came to bring her the spare keys. During this time no one communicated with us regarding a plan and we were just sitting there waiting. Tour guide "Captain C" was nowhere to be found. She then drove us quite erratically back to Anchorage, I presume out of stress. The pics she took aren't great, not like the ones on other reviews and are mostly blurry. 3) Book with a better group. Best tour we could have hoped for on our first day in Alaska! (did the Wilderness, Wildlife, Glacier Experience from Anchorage tour) First of all, Grace, our tour guide, was beyond amazing. Not only was she very knowledgeable, pleasant, a good driver, but she also treated us all amazing: she remembered all our names, took photos of each of us on our phones with the views in the background, did a little trivia game at the end of the tour, and took wilderness photos on her camera and shared them with us within 2 hours from the end of tour. And they were great! Secondly, the stops were really fun. We spotted a moose mom with her baby in the wild, saw a few bald eagles, some sheep too. We also had a tasty lunch at Portage Glacier Lodge on one of the stops. Thirdly, the rainy weather didn't affect our experience as all because of Grace's non ending good mood & cool headed nature. Even though the glacier cruise at the end got canceled due to awfully strong winds, we did other stops and had fun. Be flexible and have fun! We went on an amazing bus tour yesterday that include several stops to view wildlife, the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, and a few glaciers! The bus was clean and comfortable and the sights and experiences were spectacular! What really set the tour apart was our amazing guide, Hunter. He was really entertaining and informative which kept the tour very engaging. Would definitely recommend to anyone that wants a pleasant and easy introduction to Alaska. read more

This experience was amazing and really a bit of a hidden secret since it's most time in a van. Juls was our tour guide and she was phenomenal. She gave us such a history lesson the entire time and kept it so entertaining. We made multiple stops at look out points and what I think was worth it here was the details behind the point and why it's important and what it has. Can you do this tour by yourself in car sure -- but you will not have the narration provided by a 35 year Alaskan like Juls. We made multiple stops at the looks out on the way and she stopped and pointed out all the wildlife along the trip. We saw dall sheep and eagles and we even went tot he conservation center and saw all the wildlife they have there. Snacks and water are provided and she offered multiple bathroom breaks if needed. This is an excellent tour! I would recommend it to anyone on their first trip to Alaska and anyone else who wants to see amazing views and learn how to capture beautiful photos. We met at the van in Anchorage. The health safety measures were taken very seriously, as we had to wear masks and sanitize frequently. Bob was awesome! He gave us snacks and water and was an all around amazing guide. He also stopped for a few breaks and we got to try a pretty good bakery with cookies and cinnamon rolls the size of my head. We saw gorgeous landscapes and he showed us how to take pictures from different perspectives and how to get the best image. We even got to see a few icebergs floating by. A great way to see a bunch of things around Anchorage that you might not have planned! We spent 5 hours on this great tour, driving around the Chugach State Park, past Beluga Point, through Girdwood, and stopping at the Wildlife Conservation Center and Ring of Glaciers! We learned so much about the area and got to take some amazing pictures. Shout out to the Motorcoach Commander Kris himself! What an excellent tour guide and it made all the difference! It was a decent price for a tour (especially compared to some of the other tours in the area). They provide water and snacks, entrance fee into the Conservation center, and lots of information. Bonus, we got some Lupine seeds and will put them in our garden this fall!! Overall a highlight to our trip! read more

We learned a lot about Alaska on this tour. We met in Downtown Anchorage and drove out the City of Girwood. Along the way the saw eagles, Beluga whales and beautiful scenery. At Girwood we stopped at the local bakery and tried the delicious coconut pecan bar. We then headed over to Portage Glacier and took a moment to see the creek filled with salmon. To get to the glacier we boarded the ferry and got close to the glacier. If that wasn't already a treat we then went to the Conservation Center to visit bears, mouse, caribou and other wild life. This tour is a full day packed with beautiful scenery and shared knowledge about Alaska. I definitely recommend doing this tour. read more

I found this tour while looking for things to do while we were attending a event in Anchorage. Bob, our guide, texted us in the morning with a greeting and a reminder of where to meet up. We met up with Bob at the appointed hour and loaded into our chariot for the day. I like to take tours, as it allows you to do and see things you normally wouldn't know about. Bob's tour was excellent. He was very helpful in showing us how to take pictures that will look good and be impressive. I must say I did get some pretty good shot. His sound system in the van is great. Typically on large tours you can't hear what the person is saying and it just drowns out. Not on this tour, excellent narration throughout. There was a bit of walking involved, but nothing most people wouldn't be able to handle. If you want a great tour in Anchorage, this one is for you! read more

We felt very lucky to have stumbled apon this tour just looking online. This was by far the best thing we have done in Anchorage. Brooks was an amazing tour guide that kept us full of information about the local area and entertained. We did the Wilderness, Wildlife & Glacier Experience. The stops to view the glaciers and scenery were unreal. And the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center was incredible!!!!!!! You can tell all the animals are super happy and get a perfect up close view as they are only behind little chicken wire fences. I went for the tour Wilderness, Wildlife, Glacier Experience on 10/12/2023. I was excited for glacier but when they showed me the glacier, I was very very disappointed. The glacier they showed us just up on the mountain that you barely to see it. I could drive on my own with my rental car to do this tour instead of wasting $200/tour and time. Nothing to excite when they took us to places. Wendy, the tour guide was nice. That's all and the rest was wasted. read more

Save the money and drive it yourself if you have a car. If you don't have a car, it's a great way to see the Seward Highway. We were disappointed how rushed it all felt. Our tour guide was pushing us to only spend a couple minutes in each location along the route and then when there was a little hiking area she demanded we stay in the parking lot because bears are out of their dens. Spent the majority of the time when we weren't driving at the conservancy park which is basically a zoo - this was the only wildlife we saw the entire time. Our driver was also pretty chaotic on the road yelling at other drivers while mic'ed up and kept mixing up her facts which made it difficult to understand after the 3rd or 4th time she corrected herself on each topic. Great for seniors and people who just want something easy to do, but don't bother if you have a car or if you want to see things beyond a parking lot/main highway. read more

We booked this tour in February 2021 and we so pleasantly surprised. We are a family of 3. Our son is 6. Bob was our tour guide and he was fast to respond to our questions before our tour date and was on time on the date of our adventure! Bob came prepared with extra gloves, heating packs, snacks binoculars and more just to make our safe adventure more enjoyable for us. He was warm, welcoming and we took to his personality right away! We knew it would be a great day! We loaded on to a small but very comfortable tour van. It was just us but the van could fit a few more families. The van was clean and windows were big and clear which we were grateful for when we began seeing the amazing sights. We took the tour headed south and saw amazing glaciers! We were able to see mountain goats and were hopeful but unsuccessful in spotting beluga whales, wolverines or bears. What can u expect, it's wild country not a zoo. Bob did his best to take us to the best locations which all had amazing picturesque views and perfect photo opportunities. It was simply amazing! We made stops for the restroom as often as necessary and we could even get some snacks. The van was always warm and his information was very interesting. The whole trip was great for any family wanting a safe and relaxing way to see a very unique and special part of Alaska. We couldn't be happier with Bob and this tour!! read more

A little overdue here, but my girlfriend and I had an absolutely amazing time with Thomas at PicTours Alaska. We had an extra day in Anchorage before we needed to be in Whittier for a cruise, so we decided to book a tour with PicTours to venture outside the city for a bit. Our day was packed with information and beautiful scenery. We saw a few wild mountain goats, and we learned a lot about some of the glaciers in the area. What I really enjoyed was that Thomas took us off the beaten path, often making stops at random places where we would walk 100 feet off the road to take in some gorgeous views. On the way back, we managed to catch a glimpse of some surfers riding the bore tide, which was something I had never heard of prior to the tour. Overall, I give PicTours two thumbs up. The groups are small, and they make the tour very personal. I had a great time and would definitely look them up again when I make my next trip to Alaska. read more

Tim was an amazing tour guide. He loves Alaska and is so passionate about his job. I thought him bringing snacks and doing a little souvenir at the end was a special touch, seems like it was more a Tim thing than a company thing, but who knows? You really get to see a lot of the beauty of Alaska and learn a lot about the state. We appreciated Tim's little things like sending us pictures afterwards and just his knowledge. You get to see glaciers, icebergs, animals, and learn a lot about Alaska. Now the bad, it's way too long! Almost 2 hours longer than advertised. I understand it's so people can get to see more of everything, but for me I know 7 hours is too long for my attention span, so I'd never book a tour that long. They should advertise it as that long, if they had I would not have booked. They let people just take their time at stops and so people just take way too long to look at a darn Reindeer or whale. To be fair they did ask at the beginning of the tour if anyone had reservations or flights or anything; I didn't want to ruin anyone's tour, but I really wanted to watch Football. Overall Tim is wonderful, but the company should advertise the true time the tour takes. read more

We had a wonderful experience on the Wilderness, Wildlife and Glacier tour. John was a fantastic guide; you can tell he really wants his passengers to have an exceptional time and see as much as possible. He tailored the tour to our interests and the day (for example, when the food truck at the brewery in Girdwood where we were going to grab lunch was closed, he took us on a short hike to Virgin Creek Falls instead; he also timed our return to the city so we could catch the bore tide rolling through), and he made a point of letting everyone know he was more than happy to stop for photo opportunities (and bathroom breaks). The tour ended up going two hours over (with everyone's okay ahead of time). We spent time at Earthquake Park, Beluga Point, Girdwood, the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, Willawaw Creek, Portage Glacier and Bird Point. John was incredibly knowledgeable about all things Anchorage and Alaska and a nice/fun guy besides. Highly recommend! read more

We booked our tour in May 2021, we had Patrick as our guide who was just the nicest person. He definitely made the trip and experience better. We made a couple of stops with views and photo opportunities. The. We also went to an wild life center where we saw bears, wolfs, deer, mouse, bison, and much more. It was a great experience only thing is that the weather sucked but still had good pic opportunities. Oh and also, the stops don't have good food.
