Not just great pie - this is one of the best music venues DC has to offer. Eclectic, always interesting artists play here, and they come here because Pie Shop maintains and attracts a respectful and fun atmosphere that's focused on the music and good times. I'm someone who often gets a little overstimulated at concerts and needs to take breaks; at Pie Shop my options are to a) go to the sizeable roof deck, where I can enjoy the smell of Maketto (located next door) wafting through the neighborhood, or b) enjoy some of the best pie I've ever had downstairs. I haven't been in to grab a slice in a while but I'm just here to support one of my local faves on H St. Previously named as Dangerously Delicious Pies, Pie Shop seems to be same same when it comes to the pies. I don't care for the love music upstairs or about anything else - just the pies. So I'll keep this short. Come for the pies. Whether you like them or not, thanks for supporting them. Hopefully they stay in business long despite the pandemic hardships so I can have more pies for myself yum yum yummmm!!! My go-tos - chicken pot pie, or curry chicken pot pie, or one of the steak pies for savory. For sweet, def the French toast. Occasionally something else with chocolate, they're all good to me. Very good savory and sweet pies! Had them again recently and we had both savory and sweet pies. We had the curry chicken and the steak savory pies. All were properly stuffed, very filling, and tasty. For sweet pies we tried the pumpkin and the French toast. The pumpkin was a solid pumpkin pie, though maybe nothing extraordinary about it. I might suggest they include a little whipped topping on the side. The French Toast pie was very sweet but very good and unique. I've also had the pancake-tasting pie before and recall it being very good. All in all I may like their sweet pies a little more than their savory pies, but I also have a bit of a sweet tooth. I came here after eating at Maketto two doors down and I went to try their Caramel Apple Crumb pie and their Berger Cookie Pie. Due to social distancing, their restaurant is currently not allowing for dine in. So, when I walked up to the window thinking I could order directly from the person, but they said I had to order online. So to be honest this is a little annoying because I was wondering if they could just take my order and then just give it to me but I completely understand with what's going on. So, I went on their website, placed my orders online and within 20 minutes my order was ready. I chose not to get them warmed up because I was heading home. Overall, after tasting the pies, I would say the caramel apple crumb pie was my favorite of the two period to be honest I'm not sure I would order the other one again. I guess I was looking for more chocolate and something more. The staff was very friendly and they seem to be quite busy with some food couriers picking up orders. I think this place was formally called something else and I recall coming here before, but I can't remember. The next time I visit I'd certainly like to try their savory pies as the descriptions seem pretty good. I like how efficient they're ordering a system is and that they actually deliver and times like this, you try to avoid going out as much as you can and stay home. I live in Adams Morgan so this is a real treat to have this option of delivery. I know in the past that some of these restaurants would not deliver to our area, but I think it's because there hasn't been much traffic and there's a demand that they are now allowing this. Neat small shop with music blasting. Line up, order, step aside and wait for your name. Pie flavors sell out fast! Per slice, $8 or $12 depending on savory vs sweet/dessert vs quiche. Whole pies available. Order online or walk-in. They update online live when flavors sell out. Little chalkboards on the wall menu are removed likewise. A couple tables, complimentary water. Got the Guinness steak pie and roasted apple cinnamon chess pie. Absolutely delicious and satisfying. Steak and veggies were perfectly cooked and seasoned with a bit of gravy-like sauce. They asked if I wanted the apple pie warmed up. I think the 2nd floor is used for music and shows. You can purchase tickets and look up who's playing on their site. I really love this place. It's not just the food, which is FIRE. Honestly, I didn't know you could do this much with pie, and I love the creativity. But the venue upstairs and the awesome patio is such a gem. I really love that it's so close to where I live. DC needs more local gems like this! I'm so confused by some of these reviews that I am forced to believe I caught The Pie Shop on a bad night. I am a baker, myself and have to say that I was utterly disappointed in my order tonight. I used Uber Eats to tend to a sugar craving, ordering a slice of Strawberry Rhubarb and Samoa. The Samoa tasted good, but the slice was missing half its crust bottom. :( That's just disappointing you know? The strawberry rhubarb had a sincerely floppy crust that lacked flavor (though I commend you on the filling). I chose not to eat the strawberry rhubarb because it wasn't worth the calories, honestly. The soggy crust reminded me of grocery store pie. Kind of ruined our evening as these slices aren't cheap! Hopefully one day I'll catch them on a better note. Amazing! Ordered the roasted apple cinnamon chest pie and the Samoa. Was unsure about the flavor of a pie around 10pm after it was probably sitting out all day but that wasn't an issue. The Samoa was unlike anything iv had. It wasn't a rush of sugar that gets too powerful after many bites. The different textures with the hard crust, smooth filling and coconut was like a cookie cheeecake pie. The apple chest pie was still warm when it arrived and it was just a comforting piece of pie. Each bite was like someone was giving me a warm hug. A nice traditional change from the Samoa. The only thing I can compare it to are those hand made pies in small beach towns where families buy a pie to stay at their beach house for the week and only experience a pie that good once a year. I asked for whipped cream on the side becaus on a google review someone complained about it being 8$ a slice with no whipped cream so someone commented back saying they offer it free of charge if requested. I wrote it in in my order and they ignored my request. If the pie wasn't as good that would've taken a star away. read more

What a cool place! A restaurant dedicated to sweet and savory pies, with the ambiance of a bar or late night music spot. We came here late on a weeknight and tried a slice of the apple pie, cookie pie, and berry pie. You can have them heat it up for you, which I definitely recommend. Not gonna lie, when I recommend this place I usually praise it as more of a music venue than a restaurant. Last time I went my savory slice was cold and the meat was tough. The dessert pies were fantastic however, and I highly recommend their chess pies. In terms of food, there's not a huge selection, and the menu online doesn't always have every pie in shop. However, it's a small cafe-type dining area so I'd understand the limited quantity served per day. Overall I think this is a great place to hang out and see a show! read more

First I snatched up 3 sweet pies, their Somoa cookie pie, their Mixed berry pie, and their Key lime pie all for $7 each. If you like coconut...get the Somoa!! Rich, creamy, chocolaty, decadent. Their Key lime pie was official!! Not too tart, not overly sweet. The mixed berry pie is an acquired taste, tart but the crust was decent. Ok so I also snatched up 3 savory pies. For those with a sweet tooth, there seems to be a dearth of big/sliceable desserts -- cakes, pies, even cupcakes -- in this part of town, so this place is very welcome. I've only tried the sweet pies here and they are very good. This place definitely specializes in chess pies and they have several varieties of that kind each day. The slices here are generously sized -- easily enough for two. Perfect for ordering a few options and sharing each with someone. Key Lime is very good here and I was surprised to fall in love with the Banana Stand (pudding-like chocolate layer along with a banana cream layer to evoke the Bluth Family's fudge-dipped frozen banana). Didn't love the Mixed Berry but will need to give their fruit pies another shot. The menu is constantly changing on a daily basis, which is great as far as variety, even if my faves or ones I'd like to try (Samoa Cookie) are not on tap when I want them. One place where there is room for improvement: they don't always post the daily menu on social media. And the delivery apps are not updated daily either. If you call, they tell you to look online because the list is too long to read over the phone. So you're either flying blind or something they have and you want isn't actually selectable on the app. read more

Did not have a great experience. Was surprised, as my memory of this place was of a welcoming shop with great pies. I stopped in on Sunday afternoon about 4 PM. So, admittedly an off time. But the young man at the counter did not acknowledge my friend and me when we came in with so much as a nod. He was busy doing something on the back counter and took his time before he even turned our way. No one else was in the store. There was loud music blaring from the sound system, so loud that when he DID acknowledge me, I couldn't hear him speak. I asked whether they had a coconut pie, as one in the display case looked like it might be coconut. He just mutely shook his head. I could see the pie at the front of the case was apple, so I said I'd like an apple pie to go. He packaged it in a nice cardboard box and I paid. I was surprised at the $40 price tag for a pie, even if a homemade pi and given inflation. Seemed a LOT. Got the pie home, and it's pretty, but not the special treat I'd been expecting. It's one virtue was that it wasn't too sweet, as so many bakery pies are. But the crust was very dry and doughy, not flaky AT ALL. DIsappointing. And coupled with the less than welcoming behavior of the guy behind the counter - he didn't even say thank you, just handed me my credit card receipt and turned away - I don't think I'll be going back. read more

Personally I did not have any of the sweet pies but I did have to slices of savory pies one was the smog and another was the pork (I can't recall the name). Both really solid slices, even if it was a little costly. Deff recommend checking this place out if you are in the area. Great staff and some pretty good food. Pie forever!!!!!! Came in for a delicious bite before a Wednesday night show. Happy to know that the date night special :2 savory, 2 sweets and 2 drinks is still on! We picked out the chicken dinner, tofu curry, summer Berry and chocolate peanut butter chess. I love their crust. It's like heaven. The tofu curry was a little lacking in flavor, could have used more spice but has great big chunks of tofu and veggies. I appreciate the simple side salad and dressing on the side too, makes you feel better about eating so much pie for dinner. The chicken dinner pie was classic. The summer Berry was filled to the brim with peaches, strawberries and blueberries... Not too sweet, not too goopy. The chocolate peanut butter chess was very dense and rich. We ate outside on the rooftop patio which had ample seating and cute lights. We enjoyed the first act from the patio and finally scraped our pie filled bodies inside to see the headliners. I visited Pie Shop for the first time this past Friday. Our group was looking for dessert and this seemed like the best option nearby. We arrived to the store about 5 minutes before closing but they were happy to still help us. There weren't many options left when we arrived (probably because we were there so late and they had sold out) but we ordered from our available options. I tried some of the Mixed Berry pie and the Pancake Batter pie. I wasn't a huge fan of either and thought it was really just OK.
