I was checking out at Mom's Organic Market in Rockville, when I saw a stack of pie boxes that caught my eye. I'm a sucker for cherry pie, and these looked really yummy so I snatched one up on an impulse buy. And boy, I wasn't disappointed. Cool, sweet, tart cherry filling, not syrupy or overly sickly sweet, surrounded by crispy crumble on a nice crust. This pie didn't last too long in our kitchen. No Thank you Apple pie- dry, gooey and overly sweet filling that did not look hand made. The crumble top was terribly underdone with dry oats and no texture whatsoever to help save the filling at all. Crust was doughy and under cooked. Warming it would not have even helped at all. Brownie pie- I was so disappointed. I do not usually go for brownies, but the way the top of the pie looked pretty well baked I went for it super excitedly on first glance. Instant regret on the first bite. All I tasted was an overwhelming sweetness overload and then a shock of salt instead of balance. The worst part was, the center of the pie was all goop and the caramel infused into it almost made it worse. I hated the texture and I am not usually a texture person. I was super disappointed. I ate three bites, and it went to the trash. I was expecting at least a soft chewy brownie baked into pie crust, similar to a brownie cookie. Big let down. The pumpkin pie- had a weird sour after taste to it like the wrong type of milk was used when baking it. I wanted to love this one so badly, but got half way done eating it and just could not. This was very unfortunate, because the filling structure was perfect, but the filling itself was bland and sour. The crust was once again doughy and undercooked. No brown golden crust in sight. The pies were given to the 909 apartments on 11/25/25 as a way to celebrate Pie day. I really appreciate the small business effort. I love supporting them too. Honestly though, I am so glad those pie slices were free, because unfortunately, I would not waste my money buying from them unless they make some huge changes. All the crusts were undercooked and doughy, and I did not finish any of the pies entirely. I would add pictures but I was so disappointed, I did not bother taking any, and I am a foodie, so I usually take pictures of all my food dishes. Please I mean no harm. Agree with reviewer below that their apple crumble pie was horrendous and inedible - surprised apples are listed as the first ingredient, sugar only second, as there is almost no other flavor. 39g of it in an eighth of the pie - a slice is like a Coca-Cola, but more cloying. Really demonstrates that local and artisanal is no guarantee of quality - sometimes just an inflated price. I have half a mind to return it. I've had their pies etc in the past, and they're usually not nearly as bad, though I wouldnt ever say very good. But glad somehow other people are enjoying it seems! read more

You must try their Bourbon Pecan Pie...if you freeze it, after your first slice, be sure to put a piece of parchment paper on top before recovering it in its original packaging. I did this and put the pie back in its box into the freezer. It made the pie easier to cut into while frozen. read more

I've never had pecan pie before, so I got to try something new and glad it was from this local biz! Met up with a Yelp Elite turned friend (hi Michelle!) who gifted me a 6" pecan pie from Whisked, who I've never heard of before. With the temperatures getting colder out, no better time to try to become a pie fan. Almost immediately, I dug into the pie with a fork because the ooegy gooey of the pecan (see photo for proof) was calling to me. Nope, did not bother to cut it like a normal human, not even an ounce. When the fork cut through the pie, I knew I was in for a treat: it broke through the soft brown sugar filling and picked up the right amount of crust. YUM! Went to Whole Foods to buy some stoop waffles after a recent flight which reignited an old craving. Sadly, they were out. While browsing my dessert options I came across these pies and asked the kind baker if he'd ever tried them. He raved about the salted chocolate pie but me being a sucker for pecan pies, ended up getting this. Popped it in the fridge for a couple of hours before trying a slice and holy fucking shit it was AWESOME. Super tasty and not overly sweet like some pies. I bought a Whisked! pie at Glen's Garden Market this weekend. It was the chocolate chess pie with sea salt. It was something like nine dollars, which I thought was a very reasonable price; you get like 4-5 servings out of it depending on how you slice it, because despite its size it is VERY rich and filling (and I'm what you would call a "big eater"). As a chocolate lover, I recommend it; it's also not too salty, as the sea salt is more of a garnish than a main ingredient. I will definitely keep Whisked! in mind next time I want a pie. read more

How do I convey how much I love these pies? (The cookies are good too but I'm a pie person. Pie over cookies. Pie over cake.) I haven't lived in DC in over a year and I still dream about these pies and talk about them, to the point that I go out of my way to get a pie whenever I visit DC and my DC friends know that a pie also makes a great gift and I also ordered pies for my wedding in Rehoboth Beach over cake. I'm in Texas, we flew to DC to pick up these pies, then drove to Rehoboth with them. Yes, they're worth it. (And I also got a mini pie for myself that I didn't have to share with guests because, come on.) Jenna was very friendly and helpful throughout the whole ordering and pickup process, which was just an easy email exchange. You can pick up special orders directly from their kitchen, but their usual pies are easily found at local groceries or farmers markets. What makes these pies particularly amazing to me is the flaky, buttery, handmade crust. It's not even or pretty but it's damn delicious. The classic Apple is my favorite and has ruined me for all other apple pies: perfect mix of crunchy apple and cinnamon, not overly sweet, with a fantastic crumble with pats on top. The sea salt chocolate chess is divine and had RAVE reviews at our wedding. Silky and rich with just enough salt to not be overwhelmingly sweet, it's one of the two pies Whisked ships nationally, so get on that! Their bourbon pecan and pumpkin are really tasty as well and if I were back in DC I would've tried all their seasonal flavors as well, but unfortunately those don't ship well to Texas. I was running into the Yes! Organic Market in Brookland for bananas, and Whisked was there with samples. It was about 90 out, so I didn't think I was in the mood for pie--it feels like such a winter/fall dessert--but then I sampled their bourbon pecan. Oh my! The crust is so flaky, and the filling is bourbon custard, and then there's caramel-like pecans on top! It's definitely the most amazing pecan pie I've ever eaten! They sell small ones for $8.95 at this Yes! Organic, which I think makes the perfect, dainty dessert for 2-4 people. Each evening, around 6 or 7, I take my pups to the Columbia Heights dog park. And like clockwork my nostrils are filled with the smell of home-baked chocolate chip cookies. Pavlovian response triggered, my mouth begins to water and I look forward to a tasty treat. But alas, my yearning is doomed to go unanswered because the bakery refuses to sell directly to the passers-by whom they torture with their sweet-smelling goodness. All kidding aside, they really should set up a stand outside the bakery that is only open while they are baking. Or at least allow me to rent out the space and show up with some Tollhouse morsels. I'm sure that anything with carbs and chips would sell out, so long as they've got the good stuff wafting through the air. I always try to bring some pies home when I visit my parents, and last year I brought one to Thanksgiving which I spent with my friend's large Ecuadorian family. It was the first dessert to go (pumpkin chocolate pie) and everyone asked me where I got it. A few years ago, I brought one to my roommate's parents' Thanksgiving, not knowing that they had already bought pies from Whole Foods. After sampling, the Whisked pie was yet again the first one gone--and I hated the Whole Foods pies. There's nothing quite like a handmade pie, Jenna's have a great, consistent quality and taste for the price, and I love that she's a local baker here in the District! The only negative for me is that all of the shops where you can pick up her pies once you order them (and you choose your pick-up location) are not on my commute route, so I have to go a bit out of my way to pick them up. This is good, in a way--it means I won't spend all my money buying pies all the time. This is also bound to change as the business keeps growing. Eat local, DC! It's worth it. read more

My husband and I hate cake. (Yes, I know, blasphemy.) So when we were planning our wedding, we knew we had to go with pie. After a long search for reasonably-priced, local pie, we found Jenna and Whisked! And then promptly ordered 11 pies to feed all our guests. I can't even remember all the flavors we got, but they included: chocolate chess, salted caramel apple (which is the one we ceremonially cut!), peach, blueberry lemon, and blackberry lemon. All of them were a hit with our guests, including many of the older folks who were deeply skeptical that we had decided against getting a giant actual wedding cake made of 100% sugar. Jenna was super responsive and accommodating as we changed our order a billion times (there were too many good flavors!), and she allowed us to pop by their kitchen for a weekend pickup even though they're usually not open on the weekend. I don't know anyone at Whisked! but I have ordered twice and am ordering a Key Lime for Father's Day to pick up on Friday. I think these pies are terrific and imperfect and gorgeous. That's what I like about them. The three I have tried tasted great and the crust on all was flaky, light and very homemade looking which is what is so appealing. I love Whisked! I just moved away from DC and am already missing their amazing pies and quiches. I can't walk by their display and not buy something! The crust is the perfect texture with just a hint of salt and a great foundation for Jenna's delicious creations. Whisked has a booth at my local farmer's market and is on our "must visit" list. The pies and quiches are something we keep on hand for when we need a mid week treat or when we have company to impress. If the pies and quiche are a ten then the cookies are where they turn the dial to 11. There have been times we finish them before we've walked the 4 blocks home. I only have one complaint: more than once I've tried to buy rhubarb or sour cherries from the booths around whisked only to be told whisked beat me to it and bought them out... so she buys fresh, local, organic ingredients to boot. Re. the Shaker lemon pie, I had this the other day and thought that it was fantastic. The pie has just the right balance of tart and sweet, and the creamy curd complements the whole slices of lemon.
