It breaks my heart to give this rating. I have been in love with the pies for years. But over the past year I have had multiple bad experiences. The latest was this week. Have friends who like it but we tried a sweet and two savory pies as well as trifles and meringue desserts (I don't think they were pavlovas but I don't remember clearly). The pies were mediocre and the meringue desserts were actually quite bad, in part because the meringues were tooth-achingly sweet. Trifle was also not good. I think we spent about $70 for a pretty underwhelming experience so it is a bit hard to talk myself into trying it again. read more

We went in for lunch at about 1230 a few weeks ago and will not be back. They were out of almost every pie they offer that early in the day. No explanation of delivery issues, no apologies, nothing and the cashier kept talking to someone in the back while we ordered. We finally all settled on fish and chips. The TOP of the menu states there is a vegetarian frying option if you cant eat beef fat. I dont eat beef, so I asked for that option and the cashier acted as if I was crazy and told me that's the only thing they fry in. They had already dropped fish so we felt we had to stay. It was the blandest, greasiest fish and chips option I have ever received. Not one of the three of us could finish it. I would have rather burned almost $50. read more

Tried the Pork and Apple Pie and the Victoria Sponge cake.... both were amazing! The Pork and Apple Pie has a good crust and was filled with pork & apple sausage. I was a little surprised that this pie did not have a "gravy" of any kind inside but was still moist. I did add "brown sauce" to a few bites just to mix it up. The Victoria Sponge cake was incredible! The cake itself was very moist and had the perfect amount of "chew" while melting in your mouth. The filling was a very simple whipped cream, not overly sweetened. I thought it balances out the tart, sweet berry filling perfectly! Overall I would highly recommend the Pie Society! read more

All of us agreed that the best part of the experience was the guy behind the counter who waited on us. He was so friendly and funny, it is almost worth going there to interact with him. But honestly, the wait staff isn't why you go to a restaurant. I had read the reviews and was expecting something wonderful, and something English in feel. The place doesn't feel any different than any other place - it sure doesn't transport you to another country in the feel of the setting. There were three of us and we each got a different kind of pie - one beef and mushroom, one chicken thyme, and one buffalo chicken. Although the crust was good, it was also very thick, and there was certainly more crust than filling. At $7+ a pie, I'd hope for more meat and less crust. Of the three, I think the beef and mushroom had the best flavor by far. The pies are very large - no one was able to finish theirs. I'd probably have rather had one of the hand pies, but the flavor selection in those was quite limited and they didn't have one that sounded really good to me :( When you get a drink, it will be a canned beverage, so no refills. If you are like me and need to wash down each bite, you'll be out of a drink long before you run out of food. The food wasn't bad, but was the least favorite of what we had on our trip to Savannah. read more

Pie society has been quite the surprise for me as they feature both sweet and savory pies, And other assorted pastries. Although it can be a little bit on the pricey side it is definitely worth going to and indulging in the curry chicken pie or the beef & onion with potato pie for a savory dish. The apple or mixed berry pies are exceptional and is great for sharing. The set up in-service is very nice and informative and will definitely return for more visits. read more

We had high tea at the Pooler location. It's a bit tricky to find (on an access road off the Pooler Parkway), but there's plenty of parking when you do arrive. We had all the requisite things: cucumber sandwiches, scones, other delicious sweets and savories. The shop is filled with amazing pies (as the name implies), and I took two home for dinner. A very unique take on a savory pie dish. I was able to try the Chicken Curry pie and I have the say the contents of the pie rivaled what you would find at your favorite Indian Restaurant. The Pie Society has become my new favorite place to eat. The fish and chips cannot be beat. I had the pie of the month yesterday (buffalo chicken) and I was in heaven. Creamy, slight spice, chunks of perfectly cooked chicken and blue cheese crumbles - all contained in their famous pie crust. Yummy! Oh - and if you go for the fish and chips, you have to try the tarter and mushy peas. I am not fond of peas as a norm, but the way they make the mushy peas is amazing. The tarter has to be their own recipe as well because I have never had anything like it. To top off my review I just have to comment on the excellent people working there. Boyfriend and I come here all the time and we love it so much. I feel this place deserves the recognition. Friendly staff, delicious ready to go savory pies, abundant tea choices, a whole range of desserts from sweet pies to shortbread cookies in several flavors. Not to mention a huge selection of British goods: candy, sauces, juices, tea. Also shirts and other merch. Every pie I've gotten here has been amazing. Warm and dense crust- perfect for dipping in whatever delicious sauce is in your pie. I always seem to gravitate toward the beef options and I've never been disappointed. I can always get full off of one pie- sometimes I don't even finish, but I am sort of small. Big appetites can be fed here though because they have such a range of options. Staff won't hesitate to help you decide. I see why England drinks their tea hot. It's so soothing. Even a girl born and raised in the south can do some hot unsweetened tea any day of the week. But do not fear, you can add cream and honey and sugar if you wish. If you're a bit scared about trying something new- don't be. Chances are their pot pie is better than your grandma's.
