My response to the owner's reply to my review: June 6, 2025 Hello Cris, After posting my review, I read all of your reviews for your Polk St. store and I have since realized I am not the only one who been treated horribly and rudely (unprovoked) by your sales staff. You do realize your Polk store is selling damaged clothing? I saw a couple items in your store with broken clasps and buttons. If you want me to "show the same care and respect for others' clothing as you and your team do" then I should have broken some clothing. Its funny how your employees seem to put more energy into berating your paying clients rather than taking care of the clothes. They could have asked me to pick up the jeans at ANY time, in a polite and professional manner, and I would have handed the jeans to them or done so. They waited till I was about to leave to scold and berate me. As for my cat and running out of space in the dressing room, I had gone to the vet nearby before coming to your store to check out clothes. Your employees could have collected the jeans at any time. That does NOT give your employees a reason to berate me. The photos: I took the pictures BEFORE your manager asked me to stop. Once she made that request, I did stop and left the store without buying something. I will not take down the photos because they were taken in a public place and reflect my review of your business. You can feel free to report my photos and if Yelp feels it violates any guidelines such as safety reasons. I asked for a first name to be SURE I didn't incorrectly mis-identify a staff member in my review. I'd hoped that as a store owner, you would understand that. I said this to your manager, who said Carol (dark haired employee) but didn't give me the name of the blond haired employee who I wanted to compliment and praise. So I left her out of my review. I am still beyond incensed by the way I was treated by your staff. You run a high end consignment store. Your clothes cost more than the average amount of money. Pretty straightforward place to consign designer stuff. You agree on a price with them and they have a good idea of what will sell. Payment and collection is easy, unsold items get packaged nicely and you can pick it up together with the check. read more

They have very high end designer clothes and some accessories for women. The staffers are extremely nice, professional and fair. They are specific about what they will buy and they are fair with the seller/consignor. The owner is also kind and professional. I've been to a lot of consignment shops and some of these places have too much drama going on. At Cris, the staff is low key and impeccable. The buyers who come in get reasonable prices for these high end items but the items are always in top condition. If you want top drawer stuff, why go anywhere else? read more

One of my favorite and consistent "Designer Consignment Stores"! I have been coming to Cris Consignment for the past 10 years and have found the most beautiful pieces I have been able to add to the following brands to my collection. Luis Vuitton, Channel, Balenciaga, Judith Lieber, Christian Louboutin, Chloe, Prada, etc. etc. I have never left Cris Consignment without purchasing a treasured piece of fashion. The customer service is consistent. I have always felt welcome and treated so well by the staff. When you purchase items you always get a bag that is beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and bows. The next time you are in SF near the Russian Hill visit Cris Consignment ! You will not be disappointed. We are in SF again and our first stop is always Cris Consignment! Brought in a white Celine handbag for my first time consigning with Cris. What an enormous disappointment. They damaged the handbag and lost the dust bag. Then Sarah (the sales woman) made excuses as to why a different dust bag (that wasn't sold with the bag) made more sense. She then told me that the bag wasn't damaged, while staring at the damaged bag. I had high hopes due to the positive ratings; but, will never do business with them again. I loved this place. I had been to all the places on Sacramento. The ladies here were so nice and knowledgeable. Ask for help because sometimes they have more clothes that haven't been put out. They are happy to look for you if you tell them what are your needs and preferences. They were so helpful and I felt the prices were right not overpriced for the quality you receive. I've shopped there for over 15 years and it still feels like a special treat entering the beautiful space and browsing the unique pieces Cris and her team have curated. I wish there were zero stars. Cris was one of my worst experiences with consigning. As a former boutique owner, I know how important it is to make a customer feel comfortable and relaxed upon entering one's shop. Walking into Cris, I felt judged, as if I should have been wearing designer clothing to be accepted into "the club." Needless to say, none of the things I brought were accepted by the club owner. I shouldn't have felt embarrassed, but I did. So, I'm not the style you want. Being cordial takes little effort. Don't visit this store, either to buy or sell, unless you fit the image Cris projects...uptight and impersonal. read more

I don't usually review on Yelp but I was so mad with the staff at this store. I've been a regular customer to this place for over 3 years, purchasing over $2,000 stuff. However, the middle aged black short hair worker (name Sarah?) has never said hi to me whenever I was at the store. Last Friday, when I went into the store, this woman stopped her smile immediately when she saw me entered the room and once again put on her RBF. She was smiling to a couple of white women who were in the store for the first time. I wanted to confront her but I was in such a good mood that I didn't want her to impact my shopping. She never bothered to say hi or talk with me or smile at me - things like this happened more than 20 times and I don't know why I still went there maybe the cloths there were really cute. But it's not worth my time visiting a place where the staff members are discriminative. The other blond short hair girl working at the store was very helpful and at least she never gave me any attitutte. I will never come back unless the unprofessional RBF staff member is fired. Reading other's posts made me realize I was not the only victim from this staff member. Whoever the boss is, do something before your business goes down. read more

Horrible communication with the front desk and buyer. Selling is an annoying task in general so when I call in advance to make sure the styles of bag I'm selling and they tell me yes, I assume the visit would be somewhat worth my time hauling 3 bags. The buyer just shook her head immediately when I pulled out my purses and said Michael Kors doesn't do well and offered a flaccid apology. Please tighten your processes so that we are both maximizing productivity of our time. Improve your store's buying process and do better business. read more

Charming finds for my closet include: amazing black Prada mary janes for $90 (4 years old and still wearable), like-new Citizen jeans for $60 and other fantastic items. What really makes it a 5-star place is Cris, though. I went in on Thursday and found a bag I adored. I noticed the hardware looked off; the rivets didn't match the rest of the bag and one was noticeably tarnished. I brought it up to Cris and politely asked if she agreed with me---if you're gonna drop cash on a used bag you want it to be almost perfect. She did agree with me and then proceeded to call the seller to see if she'd lower the price of the bag. No dice, oh well. I walked out without spending money but can't wait to go back again. Cris went above and beyond knowing she might not make a sale. Kudos to her great business practice. read more

Well curated items! Many of the items came with the original tags attached. Walked out with a smythe jacket for $125 and joie dress for $69 (brand new). Also tried on 2 gorgeous Dvf wrap dresses between $75-125 - also with tags still intact! No issues with service. Both ladies that I dealt with were pleasant and helpful. read more

First of all, don't walk in here if you're bigger than a size XS or S. You won't find anything. It's all from the anorexic gals in the Marina. I was put off by the fact that I brought items in that sold, and when I showed up without an appointment to pick up the rest --an oversight--they acted like I'd just been shoplifting or something. I'm like, sorry, I get it, but now I'm here, can we just take care of this? No, not until once again the owner acts like I'm a criminal and tells me how wrong I was to come without an appointment. I'm no idiot; I heard it the first time. Can we let that go? Didn't you just make a bunch of money off my stuff? Look, given how I was treated, I'll take my Loro Piana scarves to the Real Real. While I have no problem with anyone working here, the consigning process was less than desirable. I brought in some jewelry (even some brand new) all in its original boxes/bags that they were purchased in. Fast forward three months: they didn't sell a single piece they took. They require you only to come in on certain dates then to pick up what didn't sell. Not only did they not sell anything, they returned all my pieces in ziplock baggies rather than the packaging I originally dropped it off in. I won't be coming back: other consignment stores make the process much simpler. read more

Cris is the nicest consignment store in the city. She is very discerning about what she accepts and essentially provides a curated collection of gently worn and new designer clothes at some fraction of what you would pay retail. Make no mistake, the prices reflect the quality: this is not a place you will find a cheap quirky outfit for a street fair: it's a wedding guest dress, stylish work clothes, something fun for an evening on the town. I've been shopping consignment for at least 30 years, in many cities, and have been a great fan of Cris for at least 15. Purging my closet in rounds. Instead of Goodwill I was looking for a place to sell my clothes, one of them a vintage Versace... I came across this nice store and let me tell you the transaction was simple and easy. I was checking out their stuff on my way out and it was stylish, almost new, exclusive and reasonable. Shady business practices!! Dropped some clothing off here. Was told I could pick up the items that didn't sell. Great! After the specified "selling period" passed I was told the clothes were donated when I went to pick them up. WTF. I did not ask for hundreds of dollars worth of shoes and expensive designer items to be to be effing "DONATED" if they didn't sell. I told her I would pick them up... Actual conversation: "Ok, well, what happened to the very basic, practically new black Marc Jacobs cardigan? Obviously, someone bought that." Cris: "No, that did not sell." YEAH RIGHT!!!!!!!!! I really hope this business is exposed one day. I've contacted the BBB and I'm not the first complaint. So Cris claims that items did not sell when they really did sell. She'll say she donated them (even when you specify otherwise) when really she sells them and never passes the money along to the consignor. I know this for a FACT. I know it's been a while since this event has happened. I wanted to add that I did receive a message from the owner Cris, and learned for a business woman - she is horrible at math. The owner told me I was making a "big deal" over only $25.00 difference. " I felt that your review was extremely harsh considering that you only earned $25 less than what you expected..." If she was able to do the math, she'd understand it was over 3 times more. The money isn't the problem Cris. It could have been a $5.00 difference and the ACTUAL ISSUE would have been the same. To simplify the math for Cris, I've done it for her below. 40% of $425 is $170 40% of $225 is $90. Once more, I wouldn't go into business with this store. read more

I agree with the other reviewer below that this store has shady business practices. If you plan to sell there, they will discount your item without telling you in excess of what is stated in the contract. So if you consign an item at the price of $100, they can sell it for $45 if they feel like it. That means you will get $22.50 for your $100 item. BE SURE TO READ THE FINE PRINT. I will not shop or consign at Cris ever again. read more

Not to mention all the (sometimes literal--don't ask) crap you have to plow through to get to said burgle. Cris has SUBSTANTIAL deals on high-end designers; some of it seriously beautiful. That said, you should still practice discrimination: Double-check authenticity on higher cost items, especially bags and jeans (not because of Cris, but because more and more sellers try to pass fakes on to consigners) Lesson Two Any bargain huntress worthy of her kill can either out snotty or uber nice any snooty sales associate. Depending on my mood I can either SNAP they ass or kill em with class. The takeaway: Don't let anybody having a bad hair day ruin your personal hairdid moment of retail glory. In other words: NOTHING gets between me and my Diane Von Furstenburg. alright. I can see you all got the shakes and need something to make your monotonous mediocre existence seem worth the time it takes to cover your corpse in couture. Did I say you? I meant me. Yeah they have cool stuff for a consignment shop... Prada bags, Michael Kors jackets, Jimmy Choo shoes.....but man are they expensive. I think the store has forgotten that they are a consignment store.. and that the items sold there are used. Im sure I can find the same items sold there on sale for the same price.. NEW. San Francisco has become like a second home, and discovering this lovely shop seals the deal. Wonderfully organized, refined without being stuffy, and flooded with light so you can see the gorge clothes. This will become a regular haunt, and I am certain I will be calling when away to see what they might have! Cris is a boutique that makes the customer feel as if they are working for them. They have a reputation for having the big labels in good condition. When you have such a reputation and are French, it is difficult to avoid the aloof (read: unconcerned about customer service) cliche and Cris does nothing to dispell the stereotype. I brought in four pairs of shoes to consign (Louboutians, YSL runway, Manolos). Since they are strict about donating items after three months, I made sure to call reguarly to inquire about my merchandise. The girl who answers the phone is too cool for school and is quite unwilling to help you over the phone. I wanted to know if there were any items that were still on the floor and if I could pick up my check and remaining items at one time. She did let me know I had some cash coming to me (Yeah!) but really didn't want to make the extra effort to let me know if I had anything left to sell. Hello, I can't afford to donate my shoes! I love this place! If you're someone that adores designer clothing but not always the prices, this is a fantastic spot to find gently used and even some vintage pieces. It's owned by the most fabulous French woman that just oozes style. This past visit I was going through the vintage Hermes scarfs, and she took me to the mirror to show me how to wear them. Seriously, it's like second nature to her. I mentioned I'm in the market for a Burberry trench, and a sweet woman named Jasper showed me what they had in stock. I didn't fall in love with anything, so she took down my wishlist (everything from the trench to a Chanel broach), and promised to call when she had options she thought I would like. Minus 1 star for not being organized by size, which means you have to check each piece individually to see if it will fit. It looks nice to have it organized by color, but why not do both? The bigger issue is the rude staff. Yves Saint Laurent mini clutch, Manolos, no label clothing that sometimes smells like teen spirit. I do love this store. There are times I scourer the racks and find nothing and there are times I find the most SUBLIME pieces. The only thing I can't stand are the cackling chickens that shop there. I want some meditative clothes shopping. Stop asking your girlfriend a trillion times if an outfit looks good on you and If you have to ask...well come on??? We are in close quarters, my ears are falling off. I also don't want to hear about childcare and play dates and your boring schedule. Otherwise LOVE this store.
