I have always taken my cars here for their smog checks since living in the area. They were inexpensive and relatively quick. I have disregarded the disarray as part of its "charm", but when entering, 2 customers were there without masks, and another had 1 hanging off his face. Thankfully, another gentleman arrived with a mask. When the lady at the desk was done with the mask less men, I asked "Why clients were being allowed in without wearing a mask?". She retorted that if " I didn't feel comfortable, I could leave". I reminded her that this was LA County and we were "mandated to wear a mask". She replied by returning my keys and told me that "they would not be servicing my car". Found a different place. Clean, masks requested, A/C, and a better price with polite people who heed COVID mandates. If you want to be exposed to COVID, and don't care about the welfare of others, and want to pay more than they're worth, keep going to Piedra's. You'll be contentedly satisfied. Came here to smog a used car to switch the title. The car had previously passed in May of this year but I was already past the 90 day valid period. So going in I knew it would pass plus I had done a complete tune up day before, oil, spark plugs, filters, etc. Get to the shop and find out it didn't pass. Good thing for me was that Alfonso was an honest and professional dude. He let me know it wasn't anything serious. I had installed a new battery so it cleared the codes and all I needed to due was take it for a good drive. Long story short, brought it back and it passed easily. I know without a doubt had I gone somewhere else they would've told me some bs and that I would need major repairs or something. Smog test: 4 stars The facility is small with direct access from Valley Bl. It shares the parking lot with a body shop. Service was quick. Atmosphere: 4 stars Comfortable for a smog shop. There's a TV, chair, and table for your short wait. They only have one testing bay but they were quick on the testing. You can see the test car through an inside window. Service: 5 stars Excellent and fast. They also do DMV services here. Free for AAA members. Various extra charges for non members. Probably worth it if you hate to go to the DMV or cannot do it online. Expense: 4 stars They have coupon on website. That makes it cheaper than other place nearby. $40 OTD. Took my 05 Acura in for a smog check, Alfonso was very friendly and quick to help. There were 4 cars ahead of mine, but I only had to wait like 30 minute. I had the discount from their website so the final bill was $45. Other places charge like $70. Please note the discount only good for cars years 2000 and newer, older cars, trucks and vans will cost more, so call for the prices. read more

Went in for smog and vehicle registration. The dmv website says my fees with taxes and everything for the transfer is $343. He saw a nice car and tried to scam us and increased the price to $647. Usually registration services add $15, not double the price. He refused to give us a breakdown of the registration cost. ABSOLUTE SCAM. Might work on other people, but not me. read more
