They are not the cheapest from what I got quote from but still able to got a good price with their Yelp check-in promotion. No need to drive the extra miles (extra gas cost) to a cheaper place. My car was due for a smog for registration. I took it here and it failed. They allow 10 days to come back and try again at no charge. I got my catalytic system repaired at the dealer but took several weeks. I went back today and it passed smog check. They didn't charge me again, even though they could have. That is great customer service. They were also quick and accommodating. I didn't have an appointment and they took my car in right away. Highly recommended. read more

Piedra's Smog Test is located on Valley and can be easy to miss since there are more than one businesses along that road that says 'Smog Check.' It took me around 25 minutes to get my smog check completed. I recommend waiting outside because there was a certain smell inside that made my head hurt a bit. TIP: Don't forget to check in on Yelp for a discount! I called 4 smog shops within an hour. This shop was $20 more expensive than all the other shops and they couldn't get my car checked out for another couple of days after I called in. I ended up going to a shop in Brea that was $25 cheaper and was able to get my smog certificate completed in 15 minutes. Pretty easy decision = saving money and time. I wanted to edit my review to respond to the owner. I appreciate his response and wanted to clarify 2 stars. The person who picked up the phone was very rude. Didn't appear to want to answer questions about availability to get the smog done or talk about the price. No coupon was mentioned or offered. No explanation was given why the smog couldn't be done sooner. I am certain this is the right shop bc I just left reviews for the other shops I called. This shop stuck out in my memory bc of how I was treated on the call. I would hope that this was just someone having a bad day and not how every customer is treated. I would not recommend this business at all. They charged $69 for smog check when other more reputable places only change $50 or less with certificate, and most importantly they only offer 10 day for retest if failed smog check the first time when other places offer 30 days for free retests. When asked how much it would be for retest after 10 days, they wanted another $40.... So we have decided to take the business elsewhere. They do have Yelp offer but even with that is still more expensive, and they didn't mention it when asked about price. Not a good business practice. read more

Quick and easy service. Friendly staff. Nice cool temperature lobby/waiting area while your vehicle is getting worked on. Parking lot availability is pretty small so just Incase they're having a busy day I'd call ahead of time to see if there's time and room for your car at this business. I came for a smog test for my registration. I was in and out in less than 10-15 minutes of pulling into the business. 69$ was my total(found out after but there's a coupon you can use to reduce this price, if you don't see just ask!). Owner Silvino has been keeping excellent service at his station for over 15 years. I finally had time to write a positive review, as this is my third visit. Compared to other smog test places, I am very grateful for Silvino to take time to explain costs, when I puzzled about the $8.25 cert. Service was under 15 min with one car ahead of me and price at $31.75 (based from website coupon)was a good deal. Please note physical coupon is a must. Went the same day I bought my truck for title transfer and smog. Unfortunately my car didn't pass the first time because unbeknownst to me the battery had been unplugged from the car. This place was absolutely unhelpful. They took my money before explaining anything. I knew it was almost time to close but they could have easily said come back tomorrow. They put it on the machine and told me that my car still wasn't ready so they failed it. A simple scan of the car says it's not ready and needs a few more miles to test. They didn't have to fail it. But they did and when I waited a few more days it put me passed the deadline and they didn't honor the retest. They wanted to charge me again for another test. I'm not a smog pro so I don't have smog pro questions. They should have been a lot more diligent in explaining how the process works and not so fast to charge me!!!! It's a shame that people do business this way and take money without providing any real service. I'm updating now after seeing the owners sudden very knowledgeable smog pro reply. My point exactly on what you should have done before charging me once for no services. I wasn't looking for a crooked smog I was a customer trying to get things resolved the way you just me mentioned. This is typical of what I encountered with your establishment and staff. Make the quick buck and push them along. If anyone wants service here with answers... then write a yelp review first and you'll have all the answers you need. This is why going to big shops and dealers thrive while places like this make small businesses look bad. Zero customer care policies. I show up and pay, you fail me cause your the pro, I fix the problem, then I come back with the problems fixed, and you want to charge me again???
