My boyfriend and I will travel hours just to come to this pizza place on our yearly vacation to Maine. We always come the week after Thanksgiving so there's literally no one here. It's the coolest pizza place/bar ever. The pizza is phenomenal. The fries are so salty and fresh. The bartenders are great and will chat with you all night. On a Friday or Saturday night in the off season it's just locals and there is always great conversation to be made. read more

We just stopped for a beer before dinner and it was just fine. Prices were very reasonable and it was dark and cozy. We didn't eat (we were in the Pub side next door to the Pizza side) but would definitely return to try out the Pizza (as long as we can sit in the pub and drink beer!) Service was friendly and fast. They exceeded our expectations, which was great since they were the only food open after 9pm on a Tuesday! We ordered their largest 20" pizza with pepperoni for four adults. Thin, crunchy crust and delicious right out of the oven fresh. Took about 15 minutes. Although my husband and son used the seasonings liberally (garlic, oregano and Parmesan) on their slices, my other son and I enjoyed it as served. We each had two large slices and split a generous Caesar salad (nothing special). I enjoyed a local beer on tap from their bar next door. I don't get to Maine as often as I would like, but we always make sure to have at least one meal at Pier 1 Pizza. There's great seafood in the area; but if you're here more than one day you will likely want something different and less expensive than seafood. They not only sell whole pizzas, but you can purchase pizza by the slice. Again, if you have been overeating on your trip, stopping here for a single slice of pizza is a great option. Love this place! One of the few places open in the off-season and thank goodness they have great pizzas. I first visited in May, 2022 because I needed something to eat. Loved my pizza so much that I went back again the next day. This year, my son and I are visiting Portland, but we made a day trip to Boothbay Harbor and I insisted that we eat there. He was equally impressed with the food. Staff was friendly and they even let us come back and use the bathroom later after walking around, before we got back on the road to Portland. read more

Yikes. Disappointing. Almost mideocre pizza. First slice (white sauce with some veggies) was incredibly stale. Pushed through it as I didn't want to waste and was hungry. Against my better judgment, went back for 2nd slice (bacon and pepperoni) and shared with the staff that first was stale. He diddn't seem to care , and the second slice was just as stale as the first. The lights outside totally grab your attention! We'd already eaten and I was full, but my friend was still hungry. So we went in for her to get pizza. They do have gluten free options (only a whole pie, not by the slice), but I wasn't hungry. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the divy environment for a few minutes, while my friend scoffed her two slices. Loved the environment and the dive bar decor. It was fun watching some people play darts and if I wasn't driving for an hour or so immediately after, would have had an adult drink! I feel like every summer I will stop in once for a slice when I'm hungry and every time I leave saying to myself, "that was gross and a total waste of money." We ordered our pizza at 6:40PM and we didn't get our pizza till 7:30PM...here's what happened: We came in and it was busy, looked at the menu and decided to get the "2004" pizza. We paid and the guy told us that it'll be ready in 15-20 minutes. We waited till 7:00PM and asked about our pizza, they haven't even made yet! However, we then realize the "2004" wasn't a pizza it was actually a sandwich but the guy said no big deal! We can turn it into a pizza! I thought that was really nice of them! They didn't charge us anything extra. The "2004" sandwich is breaded chicken with marina cheese and provolone cheese. We brought the pizza back to our hotel and it was pretty good! read more

The pizza itself was alright. Not quite enough sauce and was quite a bit burnt. However, the kitchen staff did apologize for it being overdone. The restaurant itself, was smaller and a bit loud and was connected to a bar. The staff was nice but not overly outgoing. The pizza was a bit pricey in my opinion for the lower quality.
