Because we all got sick within an hour after eating our slices, all we can assume is that they had allowed the pizza by the slice pizza to sit out in the open air on a 94 degree day!!! I was overcharged and they wouldn't give me a receipt that was itemized. Received a cold large pizza, a burnt small pizza, and was told it would be 10 minutes for a wait after pre-ordering. 25 minutes later we got our food and it was wrong. Chaotic with all the other people ordering food who were also having their orders messed up. Order total was $85 for 1 large pizza, 1 gf pizza and a salad? So confused. It's not the greatest pizza I've ever had, but by the time I tried this place, I had been in Boothbay Harbor for about three days and was getting very tired of seafood (sorry). We grabbed a couple beers and a couple slices and people-watched from the outdoor seating area, and it was a lovely way to spend part of an afternoon while on vacation. A couple days later, we got a takeaway whole pie to eat in the hotel room, and that thing was huge! It's a good price for what you get, and they gave us plenty of napkins and paper plates. Would I ever crave this pizza? No, but I like that it's an option among all the lobster shacks, and it's not bad at all, just a little basic. I think Ellio's pizza is on par with this place. I do have to agree with Emily that it's good for a late night post-bar stop, but besides those hours, I wouldn't stop in for a slice. The pizza slice was dry and seemed like there wasn't any sause. The cheese was burnt and was far from cheesy. Again, if you're out in Boothbay after 12 am and need something to absorb the alcohol. Not bad pizza, and it is great especially at 11pm - 1 am when you are leaving the bars in Boothbay and it's the only food place open! They also have subs, chicken wings, etc. and their own pub (Pier 1 Pub) located next door. read more

The "Fastball" pizza is the best. Feta, tomatoes, basil, and garlic on a crispy crust. It's a local business that deserves everyone's respect. It can be busy in the summer but the employees and owner work hard to make this place great! read more

I have to agree with the reviews on here . Not very good pizza. The staff was nice. The wait was OK...we has a drink at the attached bar. We ordered 4 pizzas. They were marginal at best. A couple of them were soggy. Thin crust which can be good but this was not. Stick with a drink in the bar. I like the place but there is a lot of room for improvement in the pizza department. Our stand-by take out pizza joint was closed so we decided to give Pier 1 a shot. We got a large cheese and a large mushroom. They must have minced the mushrooms because we had to strain our eyes to see that they were actually there. Super thin crust (which isn't a bad thing), sauce that was kind of spicy, very little cheese, and the pizzas were overdone. My family took a vote and we gave the pizza a resounding...meh. Ordered 2 ! Told that I would be on a wait, so I agreed to pick up at the time I was told would be less busy. Pizzas where barely warm and when I arrived home and opened them they were sooo overcooked we could not tell the mushroom and cheese from the sausage, onion and peppers. Drove back to ask a replacement order (although I knew I would have to wait!). Was told that they were warm enough and that I picked them up 20 minutes ago so that is why they were warm. I stated that was the amount of time it took to drive home and then back to Pier1. Staff stated they would put them back in oven and warm them up. I stated no thanks, make me please, fresh pizzas. Staff then went into bar area and came back with owner who stated these we're perfectly good pizza and asked the guy standing behind me to put his finger on the bottom crust. The customer was intimidated by this and stuck his finger in the pizza and stated they were WARM!!!!! So now I have stranger putting his fingers in our food, I decided even if they made our pizzas fresh they probably would have spit on them. This was an attempt to have me back down in front of other customers in line, sooo I requested my money back and left but only after I told the guy behind me that he should eat the pizza he stuck his finger in. read more

We went for pizza at 1145; we were told by the cashier that we could only order slices of pizza at this time. My husband and I watched other people buying whole pizzas. The cashier told us it was up to the employees whether they want to sell whole pizzas or slices to the customers. The cashier was rude and obnoxious the whole transaction. After eating one slice I quickly decided that frozen store bought pizza was better! The place is terrible the service was no better. If I could give this place zero stars I would. We placed a very simple order for carry out in the store and was told it would be 15 minutes. 40 minutes later they tell us that the order is going to take another 5-10 minutes because they forgot to make the order. Well we ordered two large for pickup, and they "forgot" to make them. We were told to come back but we could pay for them now. Then they proceeded to overcharge us by $ 20.00 "0h sorry". We come back, get our pizza come home and the bottom of the pizza is burnt on both pizzas. Really burnt, not just a little. They were not busy either time we were there. In fact employees were lounging. We are locals who all work in restaurants ourselves. Not happy at all. Felt like we were bothering them with our business. We ordered a couple calzones. The crust was good at first then it all went to hell. I am used to having cheese in my calzone to hold things together. I didn't realize when we ordered that the only thing that goes in it is what is on the menu board. It got wicked juicy and made the crust soggy. I will not order from there again. read more

Pier one has delicious thin crust pizzas that are enormous and the best steak and cheese sub I have ever had. They also have a great variety of slices that are a great quick fix. Make sure to try a bit of HONEY on your next slice, it sounds strange but is worth it for sure. Outside seating and easy access to the pub next door (or ice cream across the way) only adds to the greatness that is Pier One. Best pizza in town and it's not even close. read more

Experienced the rudest waitstaff ever. The young lady taking orders seemed irritated to even deal with customers in line ordering pizzas. They advertise gluten free painted right on the walls outside and on the menu; so I ordered a gluten free pizza, due to gluten allergy. After waiting for 30 minutes I received a regular crust pizza. Told server they got my order wrong and they blamed ME for the mix up, and immediately got angry and combative. Since we had waited so long and the rest of the family was done eating by this time, I just requested my money back. They ran my card back thru as if I was the biggest bother, and I have yet to see the charges put back. I would never eat at or recommend this establishment. read more

So our last night here my boyfriend and i figured since we ate at resturaunts the whole time we were here we would just order subs and eat it in the room so we ordered 2 subs, 2 sodas, 2 sm bags chips and sm order bread sticks so i went to go pay for it and i thought the woman said $16 please so i gave her my card and when i looked at the slip it was $60.63 i said what this is wrong she said no so i told her to cancel the order no way in hell was i paying $60 for subs , she seemed very annoyed and rude. I asked for the manager and she said they left. There was another woman who was there even though she was busy she took her time to take care of me as the other woman kept rolling her eyes. I believe she charged me for 2 pizzas and not subs but she swore this was my price. So we drove a little bit and saw another pizza place and order the same thing and it was $23. The pizza was OK, quenched my thirst for pizza (I don't like seafood). The pricing is horseshit. One 16" pizza, breadsticks, a couple drinks and it was 48 bucks. All of that might've been acceptable if the staff were at least a tiny bit friendly. The cashier, a husky voiced female probably couldn't muster a smile if she were told she won the lotto, and the sarcasm that came out of the rest of them made it no better than going to McDonald's. The 2 stars is for the pizza itself but the little bar area could be more if I spent more time in there. the pizza isnt really that good but for Maine and some of the other pies I saw in different places this isnt that horrible. It will fit your pizza need which most need at least once in a week. Also had kid's with us so an easy meal with children. Kids stayed on one side while we sat on the other side knocking back 2.00 wicked teas. they where trying to get rid of them. Would like to go back and eat pizza outside on the bar side. Pier1 is has good almost dare I say very good pizza. The calzones are good too. Is it the best...well no but this is not NYC or Chicago. But for the Boothbay Harbor region it is the best that I have had. So when we want pizza in the summer that's where we go and everyone is happy. Some do say the sauce is a bit spicy. I agree.
