After 3-4 hours on the beach, we were starving! Wanted fresh seafood near the pier, so we wouldn't have to move the car or walk too far. Five-minute walk, easy to find, cute decor, immediate seating (on an August Sunday afternoon), and they had fresh seafood! Keeping it simple, we all ordered the shrimp and chips. Big, hot fresh shrimp, hot and plentiful fries, and a couple hush puppies, which were kinda dense, but they came with the plate so no complaints. Decent tartar too! The service was slow, we waited 45 minutes for our appetizer and it took about an hour for our entrees to get out. We arrived around 7:30, so it's in the full swing of dinner service. We stopped in while visiting Tybee Island. They have a good amount of outside seating, so we decided to enjoy the warm March weather. Friendly staff let us choose where we wanted to sit. Lots of outdoor and rooftop seating. We started off with the crab stuffed mushrooms. Then, we had the grilled shrimp tacos with aioli and the fried green tomato sandwich. Pier 16 is a lovely restaurant. I've eaten here multiple times!! 10/10 atmosphere, food and service. As someone who has an allergy to pork and lemon, they're able to accommodate me each time. Pier 16 has a Gluten Free menu AND a Vegan menu so if you have any dietary restrictions, be sure to ask for these at the host stand! Very unique and helpful to have three different menus to serve all dietary restrictions. They even have options for people with shellfish and seafood allergies! Although the side options are very limited, it's nice to be able to eat something off the menu with these allergies at a seafood restaurant! They tend to amaze me every time I step foot in there. Also, if you ever have a complaint, please speak up, they can't read your mind! One time, my order didn't come out perfect but they corrected their one mistake with my food and all I had to do was ask nicely! They were super welcoming and I highly recommend visiting! P. S. First impression visit on Valentine's Day around 2:00PM. We got the a raspberry Margarita pitcher, rockafeller oysters, clam chowder, Salmon, and shrimp tacos. Our total was about $128. The salmon was excellent. Seared to perfection and cooked at the perfect temperature. The mashed potatoes that came with it were seasoned and flavorful. The clam chowder was delicious. The interior of the restaurant is classy, and there is also lots of outside seating. We started with the shrimp and crab dip, which we did not care for. It had a very fishy/gamey flavor. This was probably the most expensive place I've been thus far for what you get. The service was good and the environment is warm and friendly. When you are seated it feels like it's going to be an upscale experience. The drinks were good. I'd go back just for the drinks. The food was ok. I had the crab cake and the ahi tuna salad. We finally found the Best restaurant on Tybee! My wife made reservations here and so glad she did! They have paid street parking all around the restaurant with Tybee parking app. With two bars to accommodate the busy bunch of diners, beverage service and food service was great. I ordered the Cajun grilled Salmon which was perfectly grilled, served on a bed of mashed red bliss potatoes and fresh green beans. A drizzle of cajun sauce was just right. This was the absolute best dining experience -- food, service, etc -- that we had while on Tybee. And we ate at more than half a dozen locations. The restaurant has a number of pluses even before you dine here: -- they take reservations -- they have a variety of seating options: outside patio; inside patio; rooftop; and inside in air conditioning -- they have two bars --there's parking (pay by app) located around the outside of the restaurant Once you are here, staff is excellent. Friendly and welcome and accommodating. Derek our server was very good -- personable and efficient. The food was wonderful. We started by sharing some crab stuffed mushrooms. They needed a bit of salt, which we added, but were a good starter. My husband had the Cajun grilled salmon. The slightly spicy sauce was drizzled on the plate. The salmon was served atop red bliss mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. He said it was very good. I had their whole fried flounder. I left off the mango chutney (I'm allergic). And added a squeeze of lemon and salt. The fish was wonderful -- light and flaky. The batter was crispy and very thin. The fish is served without the head and one side is scored for easy eating. If you know how to eat a whole fish like this, you know to gently eat one side, and then flip it over. All that was left on my plate was the spine! The flounder was served over red bliss mashed potatoes and al dente fresh green beans (the seasonal veggie). Even the sides were very good. For dessert, we shared their flourless chocolate cake. It was rich, dense, and fudgy. A good bit of sweetness. This is the place I'll be highly recommending if anyone asks me where to go for a great meal experience on Tybee. It's a big step above your casual local haunt, but don't worry, as you don't have to dress up here if you don't want to do so. Very glad we had the opportunity to dine here. Went to Tybee Island for the day with my mom and we stopped at this place for lunch! We loved it and had such wonderful service. We went on a Monday and were seated right away outside. We split the pimento cheese appetizer and then I got the Santa Fe salad and she got a chicken sandwich. Both things were excellent. The pimento cheese was pretty mild, but hot and really good. The chicken on the salad was seasoned to perfection, and the buttermilk ranch dressing was delicious. Overall, definitely recommend if you go to Tybee Island for the day! It was very crowded so we sat at the bar, service was slow, when we got our food, it was not hot, my oysters rockafllas seems like they had been prepared a hour before. I mentioned that they were not good and the bartender said he was sorry...thats it. My wife had the seafood platter, it was not even warm. This place is not cheap and we had drinks.. Good restaurants for us seemed to be hard to find on Tybee but this place did deliver. We sat outside on the patio which was nice as there was a good breeze blowing. Inside was nice from what we could see from the patio. Service was good but not great as the server seemed to be a little behind all the time but did have time to play on their phone and stand around and talk to other employees a good bit. The food was really good though. The seafood was cooked and seasoned well. The hush puppies were delicious excellent as was the spinach dip. Sorry folks no pictures to share only experience. Well we are visiting the Tybee area for the first time and friends who visit here often brought us here. First the service: Our young lady did a great job taking care of our party of 7. Drinks stayed full, food came out quick and she checked on us several times. Location/Ambiance: We ate on the covered deck area. It was nice to people-watch. Nice area keeping the sun off us. Now the food and the rating: We all like our meals. The portions were very decent. I think everyone liked there meals. As for the wifey and I we also liked our meals. Wifey and I both had the Seafood Boil. It was good, just not spectacular. We both could of used more flavor. Maybe some more Olde Bay or something. Not sure. But again it was good, just not 5 star for us. So again - nice atmosphere, nice server and okay food. I would eat here again. read more
