    Mahi dinner

The service here was fantastic. I arrived here for a birthday celebration before the rest of the group. I was given a table in the area that I preferred with stellar service. The drinks are strong and tasty. The food was hot and good. Everything is made to order. There are no food warmers so your food comes straight to you once prepared. It's a family friendly environment that is lively.

Incredibly slow service, with no sense of urgency. Very bizarre night we had here. We sat at our table for 25 minutes before we were greeted. I felt sympathy for our server because she was the only server for the entire 8-table rooftop, and was also in charge of making all of her table's drinks, on a Saturday night, during the summer, in a restaurant in a very popular vacation area. To do this efficiently would be difficult for even the most seasoned of servers. Any sort of acknowledgement or apology would have gone a really long way, though. My 1/2 Pound Snow Crab barely contained any meat because the legs were so thin. Thankfully, I got to eat some of my friend's Crab Cake Sandwich, which was tasty and I enjoyed the creamy homemade dill sauce it came with. I also loved the Sting Shooter oyster shot. The oyster was huge (almost too big!) and you get a souvenir shot glass. Hopefully, this was just a one-off night. Wishing better for this restaurant in the future!

Sting Ray's Seafood completely blew my mind with their portion sizes. Dana was my server and she did a great job making sure everything came out smoothly. I ordered the Ramsey Snow Crab boil for one and had to double check that it wasn't for two because the platter was huge. It came with three snow crab legs, about a pound of shrimp, a pound of sausage, plus potato and corn. There was no way I could have finished it all by myself. I also tried the crab fritters as an appetizer, which were like mini crab cake balls, and they were really good. The only negative aspect of my visit was the bathroom located inside the restaurant. While using it I stepped on a tile in front of the toilet that popped up and threw me off balance. It may be a little TMI for a restaurant review, but it is definitely a safety hazard. I really hope the restaurant gets this addressed promptly because I often travel with my elderly grandmother, and I can only imagine how dangerous that could be for her or anyone else.

More like 4 1/2 stars! This was our second favorite restaurant on island. The place is quite casual with an upper and outside deck. Inside there is a bar and several low and high tables. We chose to sit in the air conditioning. The bar was full of folks eating and drinking. And the restaurant was quite busy but we got good and friendly service. I started with their "famous" crab stew. It was creamy and packed with crab meat. Very, very good. After that i had their softshell crab sandwich. It came with fries but I switched to red potatoes. There were two meaty lightly breaded soft shells on the roll. Done of the best I've had in a long time. My husband had the peel n eat shrimp. Served warm and buttery, there was a lot of shrimp in his half pound portion. He said they were great. We'd definitely recommend this restaurant. And I would go back in a heart beat for those soft shell crabs....

Sadly I would stay shy of this place if you are visiting Tybee. We went here for dinner tonight on Tuesday and found out the rooftop dining is only open on Friday & Saturday. Oh well. We sat outside. The ambiance is... interesting, especially on the ground level where we sat directly adjacent to the sidewalk and busy road. Our server was nice, and got our drink and food order pretty quick. After our food was delivered, we did not see them until it was time for the check. Ok, onto the food. The food was disappointing at best. I got the cheeseburger (granted this is a seafood place) and expected better. It tasted like a boiled burger. Like one you get in high school at the cafeteria. They asked me how I wanted it cooked as well. The fries were those scrunched up ones you get frozen from the store. Not sure if they were frozen here, but they were alright. My partner got the snow crab and said it was alright. All in all, for the price (and if you're just dining and not sitting at the bar) - I would steer clear of this place. Many other places on the island where you can get much better food for a much better price.

Service was fast, friendly and fantastic! Great recommendation on the Dungeness Crab ! 3 clusters for 1 serving. Delicious! Coconut shrimp was crispy and perfectly cooked. The upstairs bar was great. The tables are a little high and chairs we ere awkward to sit in. It was still okay, just needs a little tweaking .

    Leftover low country boil.

We had been here for lunch previously and it was good so we thought we would try dinner. After a short walk through the neighborhood we got right in. Outside table by the kitchen and entrance so a lot of traffic. Our waitress came up and introduced herself and ask if she could take her order we weren't ready but you went back and got us some water. About 2 minutes later a different waiter comes over introduces himself and asks us if he can take our order. Kind of confusing of who was helping us but eventually ended up with the waiter. If you want to go cocktails and a half dozen oysters which came out pretty quickly. The oysters were small that seem to be fresh. I ordered the low country boil which came with sausage shrimp potatoes and corn. My wife ordered the mahi mahi which she loved. I have had better Low Country boils the potatoes were undercooked and the shrimp was overcooked and rubbery the sausage is usually andouille sausage this just seemed like regular non-seasoned sausage we both have the same issue with our corn which was awful I don't even know if it was under or over but it was hot and really! We told our waiter and he brought back 2 others which were better but still off somehow! The service was good outside the confusion over waiter/ waitress. The atmosphere was fun A lot of energy and we got a great view of March Madness game. Maybe it was an off night for the cook but it was pretty busy. For the two of us and tip is about $120 which seems a little pricey for our low country boil $39. May try for lunch again but probably not dinner.

Love this place always. This is my 2nd time going here. I got the 1/2 lb snow crab and 1/2 lb Dungeness crab. This is the best crab I've had on the island. They season it like no other. I mean hands covered. It's amazing. The crab meat itself is super fresh and good. Service is always great and they have a nice outdoor patio but the inside is also just as nice.

The evening's band was getting set up when we arrived. The food was great. Leila, our waiter, could not have been more helpful. Because this was their first time in Savannah, we couldn't let them leave without a visit to the beach. Although the day was a bit overcast and windy, it was still a nice afternoon and we decided to grab some local fare before heading back to Pooler. Salt Island is a small restaurant located right on the main strip as you turn into the seafront area. There is limited parking in and around the restaurant, but we were lucky because Sunday afternoon was fairly deserted. However, I would imagine that on a busy weekend you would likely need to find creative parking because a lot of the nearby parking seemed to be reserved for home and condominium owners. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating with a sizable bar and plenty of room to entertain larger groups. The menu is fairly simple but packed with a couple of really interesting items that you wouldn't technically expect to find in a beachfront fish house. And while we didn't order any of the more offbeat items, I have to say, seeing Chicken Tinga on the menu was a pleasant surprise. Especially since my in-laws are Mexican. Lol, I actually ordered the whole fried snapper tacos, which was essentially a whole fish fried to perfection but then accompanied with a bounty of authentic Mexican taco fixings including fresh tortillas, Cajita cheese, and fresh salsa and guacamole. The waiter promised I would be the envy of the table, and I was! This thing was so big. I ended up taking some of it home and eating it as a late night fish taco snack. The rest of the table ordered a combination of the fresh fish served any way you like it and the shell on shrimp boil. Both options were also fantastic. They also offer a variety of beers and have a fairly full bar so there's fun to be had here for everyone. Service was also really tight with our waiter making multiple trips to the table to make sure everybody was good. This is definitely a spot I would recommend if you are hanging out at the beach.

The chowder was decent not great and to be honest the chili dog was good for what it is but that's not why you go. The mashed taters were horrible. The wife got the shrimp and sausage boil with corn and potatoes. Not a lick of seasoning. The potatoes were cooked well but 0 and I mean 0 flavor. Shrimp seemed fresh but again 0 flavor. The restaurant is right on the water in the middle of a marina, so fishing boats come in and they clean the fish not far from the restaurant's edge. We started off with a half pound shrimp that was hot and well seasoned. The cocktail sauce was very spicy with horseradish. I tried the special Herb Salad. It was tasty but a little pricey at 18.63. It would have been tasty with some pecans or walnuts. For entrees we tried the shrimp and grits. Very tasty with red eye gravy on top. Was missing the sausage, but still very good. Shrimp was well seasoned. The scallop dinner was delicious. Came with Alfredo sauce, hush puppies and a side salad. Prices are fair for all local seafood, which is what you expect on Tybee. And you can taste the difference in the local seafood. Very fresh and tasty. My one negative here was food came out too fast. We were still enjoying salads, then the shrimp appetizer came out. We were still eating our shrimp app, and the entrees came out. Felt a little rushed. The server was ready to bring the check, but we asked for dessert first. They already ran out of one dessert and just had the special, which was cheesecake. I normally don't complain about food coming out too fast, but when you are rushing through your courses, it feels like they need your table quickly. "Imagine Folgers... but worse," he said. I grew up on Eight O'Clock coffee--the only brand worse than Folgers-- so opted to brave the drip from Sea Wolf Tybee. How bad could it really be? Really bad. The Sea Wolf Tybee coffee was really, really, bad. The owners have made a deal with the barrier island devil where their successful establishment came at the expense of serving the worst coffee on earth. The coffee wasn't just bland, it was reeking with flavor, as if a tybee island horseshoe crab has been decaying in the coffee pot since the eatery was established in 2020. The server tried his hardest to prevent this 4-star review by warning me about the coffee, and in his defense the taste is not why I deducted Sea Wolf Tybee one star. I deducted one star because the vile 12oz cup of black drip coffee was $5 dollars. Like any diner at a lunch spot, I did not check the coffee's price before ordering it, assuming it'd be the standard $2-3 dollars. Even specialty coffee shops max their drip coffee prices at $4.50. Instead, Sea Wolf Tybee has opted to charge $5, rake-in a 95% profit margin, and exploit the trust of patrons who assume a cup of joe won't cost as much as Georgia's hourly minimum wage. I'm a former barista and coffee-lover, and $5 is the most expensive drip coffee I have ever encountered. Sea Wolf Tybee had outdone itself--the bill was more nauseating than the coffee.
