We had dinner there on 14 April. Sat outside, it was comfortable, but really noisy. Will probably sit inside the next time. We ad the ahi sashimi, coming from Hawaii we didn't expect much and was pleasantly surprised at hoe great it tasted! Our dinners were also great. My wife had the halibut and I had the shrimp tempura. Beautiful location right on the river. Food is awesome, my favorite being the grouper piccata. Best key lime pie in the USA, and I'm a key lime pie fanatic. Happy hour prices are great and the snoot-tini martini is amazing. The food is prepared and cooked right on the premises. The most important thing I can say about Pier 22 is that they really care about their establishment and patrons. I had a small issue with a server at a function there. I wrote a complaint and within hours the general manager called me. The issue is all but forgotten, but the memory that I received a personal phone call will carry back there for years to come. I was very surprised to find that in a multifunction, very attractive waterside restaurant the food could be so mediocre and bad. The corn beef was dry and tough, the bread was hard and even the coleslaw was a very strange consistency and my friends iceberg lettuce was very questionable. I don't know why this restaurant doesn't have higher overall star review. We walked right in, got a table facing the ocean with a beautiful sunset, and our waiter was super friendly. My clam chowder was delicious, it had sooo much seafood in it, and my mom's crab cake was yummy & full of meat not filling. The desserts are also to die for. My family & I are ultimate peanut butter lovers and my dad told the waiter this is the best peanut butter pie he's ever had in his 53 years of living. We also got the key lime pie. My mom is not big on the giant layer of wet meringue on top of most key lime pies, but this dessert's top layer was super fluffy, not wet, and not too overwhelming in terms of ratio with the rest of the pie. While the food is good, I must admit that I am surprised of one thing. We all have leaf blowers at home right? They open at 11:30 daily, but it appears that no one can take a leaf blower and blowoff the dead leaves on the patio. They are all over the place, and the last three times I had lunch, with a 11:30 reservation, the patio was covered. Come on guys, blow off the crappy looking leaves. And don't tell me, they just landed ..... blow off the patio just prior to opening daily, you clean the bathrooms, so find the time to make the visual as nice as the lunch. read more

I came here tonight for a business meeting. We didn't do appetizers, though we did receive the standard bread basket. It was okay, but nothing great, and not warm. Our entrees were the stuffed chicken (me), monte cristo sliders and atlantic salmon. The monte cristo sliders were requested without the strawberry coulis, which we knew was trouble when the waitress kept messing that up while he was saying it. My entree was pretty good actually. The chicken was stuffed with spinach, prosciutto and fontina cheese, which was a perfect combo. It came with asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes, which were a little stiff for my liking. The sliders did come with the coulis on the bottom of the plate instead of on top of the sliders. Not sure if that's better or worse! Probably my one glaring issue with the evening was the waitress. They definitely have a job to continue to make sure their table is happy and doesn't need anything. However, they also need to be aware of what is happening at the table. Once our food was finished, we were CLEARLY in business mode and in some deep discussions. She interrupted us mid-sentence three times to see if we wanted more drinks or dessert. If the restaurant were full and they needed to turn the table, I would be fine with this, but it was fairly empty, which made this a little disappointing. So nice, we went twice! The outdoor seating by the marina is the perfect place to view a magnificent sunset on the beautiful Manatee River (see my profile picture. That's no backdrop, folks!). The service was fantastic, and the seafood fresh and prepared correctly, which made us happy as clams. They had grilled snapper, which is my favorite fish, so you know that's what I ordered. I can't wait to go back and try all of the other dishes. There's also a nice happy hour menu and specials that sound intriguing. Even better, this restaurant is right on the Riverwalk, perfect for an evening stroll around to help digest dinner--or perhaps sober up? *wink wink* We were covered there, since it's only a few blocks from the Londoner B&B, where we stayed. I ordered a sushi roll, it was only six tiny pieces and more that I usually pay at a sushi place for a roll with the standard eight pieces for a specialty roll. We've eaten here 3 times in the last few months and each visit I'm more impressed. The water views and outdoor patios are wonderful, the food is delicious and and the service has been friendly and efficient. On our most recent visit, Eileen was our server and she was perfect. Had a great time with friends after work with drinks and appetizers, I suggested dinner with out of town guests. WORST SERVICE EVER! We sat at 6:30 and didn't receive our meal until 7:30, and it wasn't because we were happily catching up. Fresh fish and shellfish are dumped with heavy sauces that completely drown any semblance of he once beautiful flavor. My "risotto" was inedible. Out of 4 $30+ dinners more than 80% of the food went in the garbage! The best I can say is the sunset was spectacular. For the sake of beautiful Bradenton, either hire new cooks and wait staff or surrender the property so we can enjoy the amazing views with great food. read more

We were pleased!!! I confess, after reading other reviews I was a bit hesitant about this place. I was coming up from Sarasota to meet a friend so I said "Sure, I'd love to try it!" Great location, we had a table by the windows with a lovely view of the river and the sun setting, boats entering the harbor. Our waitress was delightful, the timing of the service was perfect. There were lots of people there - obviously it is a popular place! Our food was great, too!! We had some interesting balsamic potato chips as an appetizer. Rolls and butter were tasty. Granted, we weren't super ambitious in our orders - a gyro salad and a burger but we were both happy with our choices. I would certainly go back to this place........I also like supporting local restaurants rather than corporate chains. That seems like a good thing to do! read more

We came here for dinner last Saturday night. The space is large and spacious with a warm Florida vibe. The location on the water is relaxing. There was an event going on the night we were there, so we were treated with a free fireworks show outside shortly after we sat down. Our waitress was very friendly knowledgeable of the restaurant and menu. She brought out fresh rolls and butter, which were really good. For dinner I ordered Grouper Piccata. I had never tried piccata style on anything other than chicken before, so I was excited to give this a try. I was not disappointed! The sauce had great flavor, and was surprisingly light. The fish was tender and flavorful. A side of smoked mushrooms to go with it. Great earthy and smoky flavor. For sure would order this again. Would give this a 4.5, but rounding up since that isn't an option. We were a large party of 12, and they were able to accommodate us with no rsvp with a short wait. Waited about 20-25 minutes at the bar with mimosas, so it wasn't too bad. Brunch food was great- ordered the crab cake benedict and it was very delicious. The Belgian waffles were also delicious. The outside area is beautiful with a view of the water and the boats coming by. My only critique would be that since it's full sun outside, the marble tables get very HOT. We were sat outside at first and could not stay there since the tables were burning. They switched us over to inside by the fire pit and it was so much better. Driving up to the restaurant we thought that parking or valet were going to be expensive, thankfully it was complimentary valet! Upon walking in on a Thursday night it was a nice setting there was a good amount of people and it wasn't too loud. We were redirected to the outdoor area, it was a chilly night but they had the heaters on so it was perfect temperature. I loved the sushi it was great! The Margherita flat bread wasn't too great but the cappuccino definitely made up for it. read more

Fantastic place. We came right before sunset and there was some weather in the area. Even though there was a 40 minute wait they did say they could open the tables on the water....and we said yes. Best view and service in Bradenton. If you are here you have to stop in here. The food and happy hour specials are awesome. Jennifer the manager was personable and came up and talked to us and made sure we were taken care of. Krystal our server was the best. I cannot recommend this place enough. The measure of a good place is not so much in getting everything right, but in the interest level the people working there have in making things right when they go wrong. I complained about the service in an earlier review. Management reached out and apologized. Second chances are worth giving. So I came back. This time... The grilled snapper was outstanding, so too the grilled vegetables, and the service this time was impeccable. And the view!
