First time. 3/6/26. Arrived at 1pm to meet 'snowbird' friends for lunch. Crazy busy with customers waiting. After ordering and eating, we can see why. I ordered the seafood gumbo...10 out of 10 and then topped it off with an outstanding combo cheesecake. It was so good that I ordered a 'to go' Mahi mahi reuben and another bowl of gumbo for my wife.....When I got it home, she told me that she was on a diet and I shouldn't have ordered her anything...that is, until she went nuts on 1/2 of the Reuben and 1/2 of her gumbo... When I mentioned I had lunch at Kacey's to a local. Her response: "That place is awesome" ...I agree! I stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon for a late Lunch. Medium size venue with an open kitchen and a decent amount of seating. Parking was not an issue, plenty of spaces in the plaza. The place was fairly empty, I think missed the lunch rush. I was seated right away asked for glass of Ice cold water. Those FL summers are brutal. The Staff was very friendly and answered all my questions. No issues with the service and my food came out in a timely manner. #KaceysSeafood: STARTERS: ~ Chilled Ahi Tuna - 4.5/5 This would be at home at any Asian restaurant. Tuna was really tasty, Asian inspired style; sesame crusted, seared rare, served with Asian sauce over seaweed rice salad. I used to eat appetizers like this back in HI. After having Kacey's on our to-do list for many months, we finally decided this was the best time of year to beat the crowds and try the highly recommended Kacey's. Sorry to say that our vision of a great, casual seafood restaurant was nowhere near the experience others have raved about...With a cordial greeting, we were seated and looked forward to our orders: Caesar salads, gumbo and mussels. Salad - very dry, heavy on packaged parmesan cheese, tasteless mini croutons. Mussels - delicious sauce that would do well on pasta, however the heavy parmesan-laden sauce just overwhelmed the mussels. Garlic bread best part of the meal! Gumbo - very salty, almost pureed so any vegetables or seafood were difficult to taste. We were never informed of the daily specials (we only overheard them from another table after we had ordered), were never checked on during the meal, had to ask for the check after a wait (watching the servers check their phones, chat, and wrap silverware). Great find out and about in Sarasota. Surprised to see that Lazy Lobster (which we've been to so many times on LBK) is part of Kaceys! Happy hour is great from 11-4. Crab cake was outstanding. The sauce served with is a little sweet and spicy- loved it! Coconut shrimp was delish. Hush puppies were crisp and tasty- moist inside. Cod and shrimp was filling and so much food. We were looking for a reasonably priced place with great seafood and other options and this one nailed it!. our wonderful server Jill took care of us and helped with some suggestions, and the food was delicious, perfectly cooked, and hot, three great things. Very generous portions as well. ( A little surprised that one of us was charged full price for iced tea when asking for a refill to go, but that is a tiny note), Overall a terrific meal! Top Notch Seafood It's been many years since our last visit and we were so glad to find them still in business as a premier seafood eatery. We had tickets for a show at Van Wezel and Kacey's is just 15 minutes away making it a perfect spot for dinner before the show. We got there on a Monday evening at about 5:00 and it was packed with a waiting list, but they just happened to have one open table for two and we were seated immediately. Some years back, they were one of the few places that offered whole belly clams, but they now only serve clam strips. Knowing that this is a class operation, I ordered them from the Starter Menu ($15.00). Perfect. A basket loaded with tender, thick strips of clam with a very light coating and deep fried expertly. Golden brown and delicious with a nice clammy flavor, moist and not even a little chewy. Served with a lemon wedge and a homemade tarter sauce. We loved them. My wife ordered the Crab Cakes from the Starter Menu ($15.00). She is a crab cake fiend and has tried many and these were top notch. Just enough fillers to hold an abundant amount of crab together as a cake, then seared on a flat top. Served artistically on a platter with Cajun remoulade that added just the right amount of extra flavor to the cakes. 2 cakes and all I got was one little taste. My wife really enjoyed them. She had a small House Side Salad ($6.00) with her cakes and it too was very good. The salad had a mix of greens, dried cranberries, shredded cheddar cheese and tomato and she added a flavorful raspberry vinaigrette dressing. I had the Steamed Mussels off the Starter Menu ($14.00). I suspect this was a pound of plump, moist mussels, swimming in a lemon-garlic wine sauce, joined with a couple pieces of garlic bread. The sauce was a nice change from the usual butter wine sauce that is often served with mussels. I left no mussel in it's shell. This is a very popular restaurant as the patron flow was non-stop during our visit. I look forward to returning in the future. read more

One thing you can count on at Kacey's Seafood is the consistently good food. We had the Shrimp Trio which is now my favorite dish here. Comes with 2 sides Rice Pilaf and green beans and you can sub a side for other delicious sides they have if you wish. Our server Kinga is a seasoned person who knows how to give you the royal treatment and she has great ideas for dishes should you find yourself in a quandary as to what to select. The atmosphere is very low key and relaxed with plenty of room between tables where you don't feel like you are on top of your neighbor. The house wines are very good (Oxford Landings from South Australia) and can stand up to your more higher priced wines without busting your wallet. Bottom line is if you want good seafood with a variety of selections to chose from with all fresh ingredients this is your go to place. You won't be disappointed!! read more

We had an awesome lunch that really hit the spot while we were house hunting in the area. Using my trusty Yelp-app, we picked a place close to the highway and en route to our next quarry. Outside there are 5 or 6 tables and a hostess stand while inside there are 12 more tables that seemed to be occupied and reoccupied during our visit. Even at 3:00, at an off hour, people continued to wander in for a pickup order or a meal with 2 or four people Service came quickly and Katie took our drink order. She explained the specials for the day and offered recommendations. While inside we noticed that the glass storefront admitted all natural sunlight and the new tile and clean environment made for an enjoyable meal. The only downside to the meal was the view while facing the kitchen. There is a shelving unit just full of plates and boxes and all sorts of things we ought not see. A partition from the kitchen to the dining area might help. Other than that the food we ate was very fresh and the salad ingredients were fresh and crisp. The bang bang shrimp came out hot and delicious. My fish tacos were good and well put together. Maybe a little more seasoning but not a game killer. The Cajun mahi salad my wife got was the best. Stopped in for an early dinner today with some friends. The fresh catch snapper with lemon garlic butter was amazing, as was the pecan horseradish encrusted salmon. This was our first time in the Sarasota area. We did like we usually do and Yelped some local places to try. This one came up with lots of stars and good reviews. We got the seafood gumbo, shrimp tacos and the fried shrimp basket (large size). The fried shrimp and gumbo were really good. The hush puppies that came with the fried shrimp weren't to my liking and the french fries were overcooked. The grilled shrimp tacos lacked seasoning and a sauce, as it was dry and had way too much lettuce. It definitely needs some work. I would go back for the fried shrimp and gumbo and maybe try some other items on the menu. Service was fine but we did have to ask for a box and our check, as our waitress seemed to disappear after the got our food. The setting was fine, some tables are a bit close together than others. So so good! This was the best fried fish we have had in a long time! We got a mix of platters, sandwiches and blackened fish! All were well cooked, great flavor and hot! The location was perfect for our day, and while located in a strip mall, it offers plenty of parking and covered outdoor seating (views are limited) as well as the indoor space. Most of the tables were occupied during our visit, and deservedly do! We stuck with fresh fish and were full & pleased afterwards. My two cod tacos came with abundant sides, a bargain for $14. my wife and I have visited Sarasota area a few times over the past six years. We found this restaurant by accident and fell in love. The first time we came one of our favorite dishes is the shrimp scargot !! We are here visiting again and have already been to the restaurant with my folks. My father fell in love with the dish. We will most likely be venturing there tonight or tomorrow once more before we head out back to Miami. The service is pretty epic with the servers being knowledgeable and very kind. It was the day after a hurricane and we went to Sarasota from Anna Maria Island for a few days, but I wanted to get out for something to remind me that we were on vacation. I looked up restaurants on Yelp and this place is almost like a locals seafood place in a strip mall. I ordered the mahi Rueben and the bread was perfectly grilled with the butter and lots of dressing, almost too much. I wish they would have had draft beer, but I ordered a bottle of Victoria, a beer from Mexico I have never tried. My rare one beer order. Service was great and the flavor of the sandwich was pretty good. could have used more fish. The side Caesar was nothing special, but not bad. The clientele next to us was definitely locals. Our first night in Sarasota and we were looking for seafood. Kacey's had a great rating and was 10 minutes away. Lucky for me, it was Tuesday and Snapper Francaise is the weekly special that night. Wow! Served on top of linguine, the filet was cooked perfectly in Ana egg coating. The linguine was in a butter and olive oil sauce that matches the snapper perfectly. Great value. Average. Lots of fried fish options so if you enjoy that you will love this. I will say the Big Bang shrimp appetizer wa delicious. The sweet n sour sauce was very tasty. I was really disappointed in the crab cakes. The seasonings were not what I enjoy in a crab cake. I prefer the Maryland style. The cod was decent I will say the breading on it was light and not overpowering which was good and my kids enjoyed it. The coconut shrimp was pretty good especially with the sauce to dip them in. I wish they had salmon like a teriyaki salmon or even just a grilled salmon entree. More grilled grilled fish entrees would be nice. I did not like the hush puppies they lacked flavor. The fried shrimp were really plain too. I got the Kaceys platter which included ribs. While they were cooked well the bbq sauce tasted like it was out of a bottle. Continuing my search for good fish and chips in the Sarasota area ( not necessarily traditional English style) I lunched at Kacey's who offer small or large portions; I .e. 2 or 3 pieces of fish. The quality of the cod was excellent but the batter was a little bit too light; the size of each piece was very large. As seems to be the norm the French fries were lukewarm. Rather weird for fish and chips they were served with 3 hush puppies. Service was basically fine but with no attention after taking our order and then bringing the check. The interior of the restaurant had a generally greasy smell so I would advise sitting outside. Overall the fish and chips were one of the top of my list. read more

Helpful with answering questions re menu etc. The service was quick and food was hot. The lobster roll was just okay- rather expensive and would not do a repeat on this one.
