Okay, I'm writing this as a Palmetto "local" of 5 years who has had excellent takeout from Clam House over the years, and one very mediocre dining experience. UNTIL last night! And now I fully understand the hype, and why people drive across the river for this sushi. A friend was telling me Clam House has consistently earned its top spot as her family's go-to sushi restaurant in the area, and I'm now convinced of the same! You cannot go wrong with any of their fresh tuna dishes, but you HAVE to start with the tuna nachos and/or the tuna martini salad. Both are delicious! The sushi selection is huge, and there's an entire other menu of the same size if you're looking for a different type of entree. Great wine list too! For the white wine fans, I recommend a bottle of the Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc. Enjoy! Another great experience! Came here on a Saturday night and the place was PACKED ( inside and outside) Daniella was excellent! Attentive and personable. Food was delicious: Joe's island garlic clams - had 2 orders. The clam chowder was one of the best. I've tasted: creamy, flavorful and full of clams. The shrimp scampi had huge shrimp, perfectly prepared, and the mahi / shrimp was really good as well. The cucumber salad was better than I remembered. Drinks were well prepared. Everything was GREAT! We were greeted immediately when entering, the entire restaurant was clean with fun, colorful decor. Our server-Natalia was also great! She helped guide us through the menu and the bottom line was that we left completely satisfied! The 2 of us had the "Mexico" sushi and split a bowl of their amazing ne style clam chowder (which the split into 2 smaller bowls). Both were delicious and we could have ordered them again, but we were waiting on our Thai Fried Yellowtail. Damn, that fish was delicious. We ordered 3 lobster dinners. We were one of the first customers to enter the restaurant. It took 55 minutes for our food to arrive. Two of the three lobsters were inedible. We could not even pull the meat from the shells! The owner/ manager suggested he could "fix it". He removed the two plates and about 10 minutes later, he returned with the EXACT same lobsters but someone chopped all the meat into little pieces and returned them to the shell! And they served it to us like that would be ok. I was shocked. It was insulting. $34 for rubbery, precut and reheated lobster? We did not eat it. They ended up comping us in the end, but C'mon! Couldn't believe how busy this place was on a Wednesday night at 6pm! Two of us got snapper and the other two got grouper, all clam house style. All was fresh and yummy. This was my second time here and food is still really good. Visited again while seeing my parents and flavors will still delicious. We had the shrimp app and crab cake. Both had great taste but presentation was severely lacking. Service was ok. Wasn't super busy but just ok, nothing stood out. Sat outside as they said they didn't have room inside. Perfectly fine but there were spots but not a big deal. Dinner had red snapper clam house style. So good! Cook on everything was amazing but again, lacked presentation. Others had lobster quesadilla, very good. Hush puppies were some of the best! My biggest issue which brings the score down, cleanliness. Food was excellent, I ordered a temptation roll and it was HUGE. It was a struggle to finish because it was big but still super yummy!! I recommend the mozzarella sticks if you like a large cheese pull. The tasted hot and cheesy. We also got the Thai Fry fish and it tasted super fresh and delicious. I took my grandparents out to dinner and wanted a new spot with seafood we have never tries. This place came highly recommended by friends of ours. The vibe in this place is awesome. I feel like it adds to the experience. I got the crab cakes that were made with blue crab. I couldn't believe the size of these when they came out and they were loaded with crab and not all just breadcrumb. They were moist and crispy on the outside. The hush puppies were the same, and its hard to get a real authentic hush puppy. My wife got the palmetto sushi roll. She said it was very good and loaded. The sea scallops were so fresh and cooked perfectly and the little neck clams were in a nice butter sauce. If your looking for a great seafood place that offers a whole lot more for a great price and good portions I highly recommend this place. read more

Clam house has a great menu from top to bottom. After many many visits, I stumble on something new in the sushi section- the clam house tower. It is a special- and one of the most flavorful dishes I have ever had- a top dish in my book. Having lived in Palmetto for half the year for the last four years, it took a while to find what I would call "my place"- but two years ago I found it, and Clam House is it! First, they have sushi, which is great because my wife doesn't like it at all, so I always feel bad when I have a sushi craving and she is forced to eat some rice dish she doesn't care for at a sushi restaurant. Clam House has an extensive and diverse menu- lots of seafood (for me) and lots of chicken and beef dishes (for her). The vibe is totally casual, the service is quick and the servers are always really nice. I love the fish dishes, getting fish cooked in different ways (blackened, fried, etc.) and the side dishes are great- I really love the cucumber and avocado salad and their cole slaw. Clam House is great for happy hour as well, I always run into people from the neighborhood there. My wife and I find ourselves eating there twice a week now, and we're never unhappy with our food or service. We only wish they were open a little earlier than 5 pm. read more

We got there at about 5:30 on a Monday night, and it was absolutely packed. They said it would be about a half hour wait, but we got a table a little before that. The place is small but very lively, and all of the staff were friendly and attentive despite the crowd. I ordered the haddock fish wrap with a side of hush puppies, both of which I enjoyed. The hush puppies were definitely the move. Other members of my party got the flounder and the Cajun shrimp, which were a hit as well. Definitely worth the trip, but at peak hours, expect a bit of a wait and trouble finding parking. read more

First trip on a Friday night at 5pm for a four person dinner. All went well, prompt and friendly wait staff. Ate outside in the shaded patio with a fan and a slight breeze it was quite Comfortable. Now the menu offers quite a few Clam, shrimp fresh fish options which was good to see. A separate drink menu had many fancy rum and Beach items. True to their name the food was served hot and quickly. My blackened shrip dinners was very good. My friends enjoyed their Chowder and shrimp meals. My wife's Salmon was excellent. This is a good go to place in Palmeto Florida and the locals Love it. The manager walked the front of the house and spoke to guests, a nice touch of hospitality. Overall a great gem of a restaurant. This is our 1st time at this restaurant and it was acceptable but not up to our expectations. There was no happy hour and inside it was very dark and noisy. It was busy and we were given a table one foot from the rest room, which we refused. Clam Chowder was a good portion and excellent. The Cesar salad was small but delicious. Ordering a fish meal , Thai style at $29. was difficult and it turned out just ordinary. Shrimp and scallops fried with coleslaw and french fried at $27. was a small portion and very overpriced. I have to come on and correct my last review. When we visited last time, the restaurant was cluttered, dingy, and needed some TLC. They've remodeled the place, and it looks incredible. We sat outside in the patio area, which is so cozy. Our waitress was phenomenal, and we had such a great experience. Most of us got sushi, and we started with the clams in a white wine sauce-amazing! The sushi was fresh, and our cocktails were inventive and made well. I heard they have a happy hour too, so we will be back. Clam House is a neighborhood gem. The owner was on site making sure all of the customers were satisfied and happy. The staff is always friendly. The manager is always helping out and leading the crew. I have had Christine several times and she is very nice and makes sure you have everything you need. The food is good and portions are filling.
