We celebrated a wonderful birthday dinner here. They start you off with complimentary bread basket - the warm raisins walnut bread was my favorite with the butter. We shared everything and the waitress was so helpful in the dish order to come out. Both the seasonal and Caesar salads were really good, and the octopus appetizer was a step above most places with its tender meat and slightly sweet sauce. The 40 oz tomahawk deal was delicious and came with the 2 salads and 2 sides. We got the Brussel sprouts (I really enjoyed this but it got a little too salty as I kept eating it) and the caramelized sweet potatoes (much too sweet for our taste but still tasty). It also comes with a grilled onion and homemade sauce that was a nice complement. The red snapper was good but the chilesan sea bass on risotto outshine it. Both the bass itself (so tender) and the risotto (delicious use of lobster and creaminess) shined through. They surprised us with a complimentary chocolate cake for the birthday girl. It was a little dry but not bad. We also got a key lime tart to share and it comes with a towering meringue. Again, a little too sweet for our liking but flavor was good. Lastly, I got the honey keeper mocktail which was the best drink of the bunch. My companions got the cucumber and strawberry basil lemonade cooler but both were too sweet. Another got the Bella basil - be aware, it is quite heavy with the Tequila. All in all, a fantastic dinner and the service was impeccable. They were able to cook everything for me in non-soy oil. Every part of our experience was great. We arrived for our res, and choose to eat "outside" which is a covered atrium with trees. At night the lights come on. I'm glad we chose the outside dining, inside was a bit dark and there was someone playing music which could be loud for some. Our server was fantastic, truly someone with the gift for service, and the rest of the staff who served also good. The manager came by to say hi and check in, which is a hallmark of a great restaurant. It's a pricey place, but worth every penny. We had the sea bass, red snapper, & crab cakes and a side of mushrooms. Everything was YUM! Even the mushrooms evoked a yummmm with every bite. The only item that wasn't very good was the bread, not much flavor & a bit dry, but I didn't want to fill up on that anyway. No food pics because it was too good to wait! Michael's On East never disappoints. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt elegant, warm, and upscale. The service, food, and overall experience were truly exquisite. Our server, Gregory, was outstanding. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, attentive without being overbearing, and made excellent recommendations throughout the evening. His professionalism really elevated our dining experience. We started with the shrimp cocktail, which was incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared. After we finished, Gregory impressed us by bringing fresh lemon wedges and hot towels so we could clean our hands -- a small but very thoughtful touch that showed the restaurant's attention to detail. For our entrées, we ordered the reimagined Beef Wellington, the lobster special, and the Chilean sea bass. Every dish was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The Beef Wellington was rich and flavorful, the lobster was tender and decadent, and the sea bass was buttery and melted in your mouth. We were also celebrating a birthday, and the evening ended on a perfect note when they surprised us with a delicious piece of cake. This review is specifically for the catering department. First off, we are very familiar with MOE, as they cater my alumni luncheons ( go Cornell!) as well as events at The Ora. Outstanding all around. We ordered a Passover Seder dinner package/ very easy to do online , and easy peasy pick up in their valet area: drive up and they put it in your car. It gets even better: well packaged in both aluminum and heavy duty plastic containers with printed and online directions. The food was INCREDIBLE and contained everything but matzah and wine-- but go to Michael's Wine Cellar for some fantastic choices). There were options for the main course: brisket, chicken and maybe a vegan entree; we got the chicken. Huge piece and moist, tender and so well seasoned. Everything was delicious and included everything for the Seder plate: and I mean everything ( gefilte fish, horseradish, matzah ball soup, Tuscan vegetables, tsimmes, chocolate cake... I have never liked charoset prepared by anyone else other than my mom or me-- OMG, there was the best--I will try modifying mine to be more like theirs.. Great evening. Delicious food. We had the sea bass and prime rib. Both were cooked perfectly. Creamed spinach was so good. Mac and cheese was good, truffles especially, but could have used more cheese. For a $24 shared side, it could have been larger. We enjoyed our elegant lady drink as well as the nutty bison after-dinner drink. Excellent service--Yan was great. Everything he recommended was spot on. The chocolate anniversary cake he brought out was beautifully plated and tasted exquisite. The apple ricotta Bundt cake was okay. Should have gone with Yan's other recommendations. If you order a steak à la carte, be prepared to spend more money than you might expect for an add-on. We look forward to going back. The courtyard was beautiful but we ended up eating inside because it was chilly. read more

Decided to come here for dinner as we had stopped by the year before for their happy hour. They have redone the place and is now sporting a 1920's theme with murals and such. Very high end restaurant where they ask if you want any fruit in your libation... They were very busy but still attentive. We ordered the truffle pasta and my husband had the prix fixe menu and got the Waygu beef shortrib. The plate on my pasta was hot but my pasta was room temperature so I had to send it back. When it came back, the waiter shaved some truffles on my pasta. There was no smell or taste from the truffle. I was very disappointed. My husband liked his dinner. Overall, with so many restaurants to choose from in Sarasota, I don't think I'll be back. read more

Mothers Day Brunch was a success! First time dining here and our party was impressed. Our waiter Cristiano was very attentive during brunch helping us with drinks clearing plates and anything we needed. The food was really good. Truly a stylish elegant experience whether indoor or outdoor in covered garden. Had not been back in years. The restaurant was renovated in fall of 2024. The ROASTED BONE-IN PORK CHOP was fabulous. Absolutely positively one of the finest meals you will ever find anywhere. And when the BROWNIE ICE CREAM STACK was delivered you would have thought the Queen of England was parading through the restaurant. Heads turned and you could read the lips., "what is that?" Spectacular food and service! The Sancerre wine was fabulous. The Buratta appetizer wasn't as creamy in the middle as I was expecting but still delicious. We had been anticipating our visit to Michael's and the restaurant clearly came through for us. We were welcomed as soon as we walked in by every staff member we encountered on the way to our table. This relaxing dinner went great from start to finish with service paced, professional, and accommodating. I was so impressed with their Michael's Famous Bowtie Pasta, it was like there were more ingredients added to the pasta than the pasta itself. There were pieces of I believe marinated grilled chicken that had so much flavor, sundried tomatoes which add their own bold taste to any dish, and a delicious light cream sauce. Shitake mushrooms and snow peas rounded out the dish. From the first bite to the last, I thoroughly enjoyed this dish. I also liked the other dishes I sampled, including a half order of their East Avenue Caesar Salad with anchovies included. As a big flavor guy, this place was perfect. While not inexpensive, we were satisfied with the value as a special occasion place. read more

Pros: Kathy our server, she was so amazing and really helpful in suggesting different items. She was kind and attentive. The food is really impressive, really delicious and adventurous in flavor. We started with two drinks, I chose the rose cocktail and my fiance chose a gin based, the rose cocktail was beautiful, flowery and slightly sweet, very smooth and just a beautiful flavor experience. We had the charcuterie to start and oh my goodness, it did NOT disappoint, the variety and selection of meat and cheeses (and the chutney) DELICIOUS. We shared the Michael's seasonal salad which has figs, walnuts, Gorgonzola and a slightly sweet dressing, really good. Also important to mention the table starts with bread service, the bread was homemade and so good. For entrees we had the sea bass and the scallops and gnocchi. Both were delicately proportioned and the flavor profiles were stunning, it I loved the beurre blanc. For dessert we had crème brûlée and they surprised my fiancé with a chocolate cake! The crème brûlée was amazing. We also tried the truffle Mac and cheese and it was AMAZING. Definitely recommend to try all the food selection we got, you won't be disappointed. Cons: At first when we arrived it was quiet and perfect, then as the night went on it got very busy with large tables being seated around us with peoples volume at an ultimate high trying to yell across the tables at each other, I ended up leaving with a headache. We figured it being more high quality and with the price point we would be able to have an intimate experience, and although we did at the beginning the end was frustrating. As the tables packed in the service got very slow as the large group tables continuously kept her occupied. All in all it was a positive experience, if you're looking for more of an intimate experience, I would suggest calling ahead and inquiring about an area of the restaurant that may be quieter. read more

May 10 2024 - 2 for dinner. A before FST theatre dinner. Not a fan of the valet guards at the door, don't like paying for parking or having my car parked when I can easily park and walk...... they have plenty of parking area but locked it up for valet concessions. (no ding for this , just saying.) Made a reservation online for 5:45 PM said all they had was outside?? Not sure what that meant...... its an arched roof atrium open at both ends with a dozen large fans. Was fairly warm with little 'breeze". Would not opt for this on what was a high 80s day...... especially when we arrived......and when we left there were NUMEROUS clean and cleared and OPEN tables inside the facility. Not a great first impression for me. The service was absolutely exemplary and first rate by Angelica. What I liked best was she had a firm opinion about some of the dishes we discussed and was firm about why for example the pompano vs the Chilean sea bass in discussions with my wife, the fish lover and excellent cook? The net-net my wife went with the pompano entree and she exclaimed later one of the best fish dishes since we came to Florida in 2021. Bravo Zulu Angelica!!! 10/10 Waitstaff and bus service were attentive and the reference standard 'water glass game" I play resulted in never an empty water glass OR not long before it was filled.... and never spilled. :-) Not a lot of vegan, whole food, vegetarian entrees (okay none) So we split a fig & pecan garden salad with gorgonzola on the side for my wife snf none for me, that was ample for two. 8/10 I got the sauté mushroom side that was not too oily/buttery/greasy or overcooked (very large family style) and was very tasty 9/10 and the roasted cauliflower side (loved the pepperoncini in there for flavor and color!) 9/10 as well for my entree. Good spot and we will probably check it out again on our rotation in Sarasota. A bit pricey with my no liquor license required Beck Non alcoholic beer at EIGHT BUCKS? My wife's two house wine (large glass) were $19 each . The Pompano with really no sides or etc and just ~ 4 oz of fish was $47. My sides were $17 and $18 so $35 for sides. We broke loose for about $190 for the experience. I was a bit clammy and damp for the first half hour of the play recovering from the humid table. Next time will secure indoor seating or skip it. Hoping for some more healthful and lifestyle sensitive entree or options. I will challenge the chef with some creations of greens, beans, onions, mushrooms & berries with legumes and tubers and sweet potatoes and quinoa or brown rice....... if they have them? read more

This place has the greatest servers and service, small food servings, all while squeezing your credit card to astronomical levels. The ambiance in the atrium is lovely, love the trees and decor. The fish was tender and flaky, cooked perfectly, and had a rich, buttery flavor. Everything on the plate worked well together and it was clear a lot of care went into preparing it. We also had the bone-in pork chop, and that was just as impressive. It was cooked exactly right. The portion size was generous, and the sides complemented it really well. What really made the night stand out was our waiter, Cristian. He was friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. His service definitely elevated the experience. We just celebrated our 43rd anniversary at the completely redecorated Michael's on East. Lobster bisque, tomahawk veal chops and chocolate dome dessert. Disappointed. We had been to Michael's years ago and everything was fantastic. Ordered the Tomahawk ribeye for 2 and it came out inedible. Chewy, thin, rubbery and 75% fat, supposedly 36 oz, however most was fat and bone. Tomahawk is our go to when available on the menu. The chef pre-sliced it and should have never sent it out as it was very fatty. They did 50% discount it, which was appreciated but not what we were looking for as a birthday meal. So, we ended up getting 2 salads (neither of which arrived at the same time), a baked potato, creamed spinach, a glass of Prosecco, and a Lava cake for dessert for $170 with tip. Also ordered 2 cups of coffee with dessert that never came. I will say, everything other than the steak was very good, just didn't live up to our expectations. Wish we'd ordered anything else. Service was average at best. New decor was stunning. read more

The place looks amazing after the renovation- always a favorite but this time service was not great- took over 10-15 minutes to be greeted, the server who greeted us started with "hi I'm not your server but he's too busy so I'll help you with a drink " after we asked the hostess where the server was- it got a bit better after that but celebrating a special birthday and spending over $500 we don't want to have to ask where our server is, many tables seated after us got greeted immediately/ overall servers in general did not match the ambiance and amazing food quality- both servers and bartender seemed untrained and a tad unprofessional- but we will be back again since we absolutely love the food and new look! read more

Exceptional service and food! This was our first time here, celebrating, and our server was Mark. He was so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and wine options. The woman cleaning the tables and filling the water glasses did a great job also. She packed up our leftovers to go, which was nice and unexpected. We've heard great things about this restaurant from folks in the community. When we were scouting a place with live music, we saw that they often had a pianist. Which on this night they did! We dined in doors, but in the future, we may also consider dining outside as that is where the piano is, though you can still hear it inside too. They have a very nice bar inside and offer a wide assortment of wines and cocktails. We were so satisfied with our dinners! Everything was cooked to perfection. They bring out some bread in the beginning, though it was just a little too plain for me (piece of white bread roll, few slices of raisen bread, and a fennel cracker or something) with plain butter. Nothing fancy. The blue crab beignets were INCREDIBLE. Soft on the inside and slightly crisp on the outside with a dill and mustard sauce. The chocolate desserts were a little too rich and dense for my liking, but they have other options to choose from. The celebratory cake was a little on the frozen side, but we just sat and chatted a bit to let it thaw a little. We absolutely plan to continue coming here for celebratory occasions! read more

Mother's Day Brunch was lovely. Had a difficult time making reservations, wish they accepted online reservations but the website listed that all reservations needed to be called in. A tad bit difficult finding the entrance of the restaurant. It is now located in the back of the building and not facing Tamiami. We luckily had a morning reservation as it was heating up by the time we were nearing the end of the meal and the aesthetically pleasing outdoor seating was rapidly turning into a muggy green house. Love a good brunch buffet but for the price, I wish it was an utterly, outstandingly, delicious meal and service. The good: Lox with crispy bread, ultimate brownie, salmon, crab cake, chicken, ravioli, white chocolate macadamia tart, lemon merengue, poppycock, Asian ribs, tiramisu, eggs Benedict, bacon & chocolate bacon. Server was friendly and welcoming. The lesser: Waited a fair bit of time for a high chair, water service wasn't good. There were just too many people and tables everywhere. We were sat at a table in-between a large plant, windows, and the doors to the buffet and had to maneuver in and out on on all sides of the table. Due to lack of space, server handed out the hot coffee over the baby in the high chair. Crème brulee was straight up soup and extremely sweet. Cannoli was soft. RAVE: Mother's Day rose was a very nice touch! Poppycock bags are amazing. Don't leave without trying the white chocolate macadamia tart or the packed with crab crab cakes and silky lox. read more
