The last straw for us. We've probably been to Pier 22 between 40-50 times since its opening. Over the past year it has been very hit or miss. Places have bad days, I get that. However the past few times have been consistently subpar. Today, we brought in a large party for a very important family event. The service was awful. Not even neutral, but actually terrible. This is something that is inexcusable in a customer service industry. Our waitress had such a bad attitude, was not prompt or helpful, and was condescending and rude. We were often waiting for drinks/refills/items we had asked for MULTIPLE TIMES- each time she would either ignore us or dismissively tell us she heard us before/would get it when she was done finishing _______ (whatever task she was doing). Very dissatisfied and upset. Additionally, food was cold, quality was poor, and main plates weren't delivered at the same time. Drinks were good and view is gorgeous so this review isn't a 1. This has been our go to place, but now that a new restaurant is opening up across the street I think we will branch out. Too bad more pride isn't taken in such a beautiful location. read more

Decor is nice. Unlike other reviewers the best part of my visit was the service. Sat in bar area and the bartender/waitress was attentive and nice. Food came out quickly. Had the Chicken Penne Pasta. Smelled delicious! Just wish the taste lived up to the smell. The chicken was tasteless, just cubes of chicken. The pasta was cooked correctly, might have been 3 pieces of shiitake mushroom. For the price I expected better. Something I could say yum! But sadly no. I'm giving 2stars for the bartender and one for the decor/location. read more

This is by far our FAVORITE place to eat in Bradenton! Whether you are inside or outside, the ambiance is great. The happy hour menu offers great prices for delicious food and drinks. We were even able to bring our dogs. Service is always great, although we absolutely prefer a waitress named GiGi. After the first time I ate there she remembered my drink and my dessert. We have been back several times and have always had a great meal with above average service. read more

I recently had an 80th birthday celebration for my mother at the Pier 22. Allison was our server and she was absolutely amazing. She was attentive, gracious and professional. I couldn't have ask for a better server. The food was outstanding and the view of the river from our banquet room was breathtaking. One thing despite from the great service and is sort of a Downfall; The bloody Mary's............the mix is cocktail sauce. Relatives brought us here specifically for happy hour. $4 cocktails and small plates. Great variety and quality of ingredients made everyone happy. Also ended up getting the soft shell crab maki roll. Will come here again on our next visit. read more

Nice place and atmosphere but Riverwalk in Palmetto kicks butt every time even without live music.

Seems that the prices have gone up, the portions have become smaller and there is less liquor in the mixed drinks. But you sure can't beat the location and ambiance. read more

Well, here's a first... Our waiter actually forgot he was waiting on us! After our meals were delivered, he never came back to check on us. He basically disappeared. After a long while, my husband noticed that he was sweeping the floor. My husband decided to go over and ask for the check. The waiter responded that he was not waiting on us! He eventually put two and two together and realized that he forgot about us. When he came to the table with the check, he appeared very disheveled. He apologized and said that he indeed forgot about us. He processed our check and then came back to the table and oddly offered us a $20 bill to pay for our drinks which we refused. I spoke to the manager to inform her of the experience. She was apologetic. Hopefully this was a one off issue. We do like the venue and the food is excellent. read more

They try to be very accommodating when you ask for special things at your table when you make a reservation. It is somewhat pricey but parts of the menu is really good. They have a sushi bar and the sushi is pretty good. It is one of my favs for ambiance if you can sit outside. read more

The outdoor seating is just incredible. We make this restaurant a MUST visit every time we are in Florida. The service was impeccable - our waitress was one in a million! I even wrote a note on the check about her. As usual, the oysters were fresh and delicious. The verde handmade pizza was sensational. We love to order several appetizers for lunch - we are never disappointed. The food and ambiance here are exceptional. Very nice restaurant. Great setting on the Manatee River. However, you need to "educate" yourself about their Happy Hour trick. On the menu it states that well and call brands are 50% off between 3 and 7pm (sounds like a fantastic deal). If you think "top shelf" brands are the same as "call" brands you would be mistaken. The menu is very misleading and it should note the difference between top shelf and call brands unless you're OK with $20 cocktails/pour. read more

Went tonight with our entire company for our annual Christmas dinner for the second time. Service was excellent as was the previous year. However., the food was mediocre at best. Out of the 8 people at our table the 5 that ordered steak was unedible. They offered to replace it but it was late. The manager who took 15 minutes to come to the table was not pleasant. So if your looking for atmosphere you got it..good food not so much! read more

We arrived at 4:30 PM on March 22nd. We were seated immediately and it took the waiter 10 minutes to come to the table. He took our drink order and before I could order an appetizer he disappeared. He returned 10 minutes later took our order. The food arrived but a salad was missed. The food was OK but we did not see our waiter until he brought the bill. The person who brought the food was asked to refil the drinks and he screwed that up. When the waiter finally brought the check it contained salad which we did not receive. 10 minutes later when he returned to pick up the bill he said he would remove the salad from the bill read more

We have been here several times. The last two times have left a lot to be desired, unfortunately. This is the South, the home of iced tea. WHY do they serve it in a highball glass? Oh, "it (the highball glass) is actually the same volume as that large glass." Um, that's an old fashioned glass which holds 6-8 ounces. Amazing...that is about 3 sips. Then our friend, who is allergic to onions/garlic, is served the wrong burger. When the new one comes out, the tomato smells like onions....obviously the onion was taken off vs a new fresh tomato slice. Their key lime pie is an individual pie with crust about 1/2" thick...in other words...have some pie with your crust. The biggest coincidence is that we had the same waitress for our last two visits. Our friend orders their fudge dessert....gets the plate with 3 2" squares of fudge. The chocolate one, you couldn't even cut with a knife. She sends it back. The Manager comes over and apologizes, they accidentally served a bad batch that didn't turn out right, blah blah blah. He said he would take the burger and dessert of the bill. Imagine her surprise when the bill arrived.....burger and dessert right on the receipt. "Oh I'm sorry the manager didn't tell me anything about that." --- Needless to say, we might not ever need to stop there again. Sad. read more

Just OK. That's the best way to put it. Not good, not to bad, just OK. The prices are high and the menu, although large, is missing something. Hard to explain. The food is ok, nothing special but when price is factored in we probably won't be back. Our serve, although he was nice and tried was lacking. Drink refill 15 minutes, check 15 minutes. Not a fave. Patio / porch is open and therefore hot. And the sun makes for squinting conversations. Little pricy and parking can be a challenge- what's with the lawn parking on the median? I can , I can't, you can? Indoor dining is much better, but loud. No quiet, romantic dinner here. Enjoy, it is on the water. read more

Ordered the "chefs special" Elk chops with port au' Jus reduction for $38. The elk chops were the size of lamb chops and you got 2 of them, must have been really small elk. The sauce was not a reduction, it was a cornstarch thickened sauce that tasted aweful. The best thing was the fresh asparagus. The server never came to our table to check on us after serving our dinners. I asked her about the food and she did not know anything about the dish. I asked for the chef, he was not there. A manager came to our table and did not know anything about how the dish was prepared either. The general manager was not there either, I think it may have been a dining room supervisor who came to our table. She offered us dessert but we did not want dessert. Then she offered us a drink and we accepted that. Then when we were in the parking lot the server ran up to us and asked us to pay for the drink the manager gave us! I told her the manager gave us that drink, she said no they did not so I paid her cash and I told her we will never be back there, she mumbled something as she walked away. read more

Pier 22, food poisoning, diarrhea, and terrible costumer service. We went to Pier 22 last Saturday my husband ordered the Pound Lobster. A 45.00 Dollars plate. We expected a fabulous dish. Instead he was served with an odd smelling crustacean that left both of us unsure of the quality of the product. He ate less than half of it, but decided that it wasn't what he was hoping for and stopped eating it. On the next morning after our visit to Pier 22, he had horrible fetid diarrhea, visited the toilet more than 12 times during that one day. He also vomited, had abdominal cramps, passed lots of gas, had weakness through the day, and chills. I am sorry for the excess of information provided, but it is important that the possible costumer knows what to expect in the event of such disagreeable sickness. After going through this horrible condition, still feeling weak, he called the manager at Pier 22 to let them know what happened and request a refund for the Pound Lobster that caused so much pain and discomfort. The manager (Michele) told him: there is no way you could have food poisoning, our fish is fresh every day. After he insisted and described what happened to him, she still said he could not have had food poisoning from eating there, but she would refund the money. She said to expect the refund no later than Wednesday. It is Friday, still no refund. She can no longer be reached on the phone, as he has tried to call her, but she is always busy. My husband is a strong man, I cannot begin to imagine what would have had happened to a person with frail health or a child. After the food poisoning event I found many bad reviews, including other food poisoning ones. I hope you are lucky to read this review before you risk your health there. I filled out an Online Food and Waterborne Illness Complaint Form with the Florida Department of Health, hoping more people do the same so we all can become informed about places like that. It is Friday September 11th, still no refund. Just avoidance and excuses. They are giving him the run around. He called them 3 times today, finally someone (Michele-the manager) answered the phone, when he identified himself, she quickly handed the phone to Shawn, who promised again, to reimburse him. Shawn did not have an explanation as to what happened to the refund he allegedly provided us last Saturday. We never saw it. Very disappointing. Not sure if owners know how this business is being run. read more

Not sure what is happening there. Went the Friday after Thanksgiving and the service was soooo slow out on the patio. Our waiter was using a tennis wrist sweatband; gross! The food is good but that's the second time we had really poor service. Drinks took forever and the bar screwed up. Apps arrived minus one that was ordered. I gave this restaurant 3 stars. We went to the Father's Day Brunch. The waterfront was nice, the food was good, just wished there was a little more variety. The biggest issue for me is they offered a free alcoholic beverage but wanted to charge for ice tea and lemonade? Most places with a buffet offer basic drinks with the buffet. The other issue was there was an automatic 20% gratuity added for a party of 4. Really? No communication this was going to happen until we received the bill. Most places say in the menu, if the party is 8 or more people there is an automatic gratuity...but a party of 4? This really made me mad because I don't feel the server deserved that much tip! The one good thing was they offered a military discount. Would I go back? No....there are other buffets with the same type of food for half the cost! read more

The restaurant is in a great location with a great view, but overall the quality of the food did not justify the price. We ordered the clam chowder and French onion soup, which were pretty good. The south of the border sushi roll was phenomenal. It took a while for our appetizers to come out. The entrees were served fairly quickly after that. Both the sea scallops and chicken penne pasta were mediocre. The pasta in particular didn't have any flavor. Come here for the views, but don't set your expectations too high for the food. read more
