Loved the rustic atmosphere and view of the river here. Service was excellent and the food was amazing. Our dinner and soup came out hot and the fish had such good flavor. We also ordered the wedge salad and cream of mushroom soup but we must have been hungry because I didn't get a picture of those. This place is a little off the beaten path but definitely worth the trip! A must try when in Cheboygan!

Really great place on the river! Very rustic decor! Fun gift shop. The food was very good. I had the halibut. My son ordered lobster which he loved. The menu isn't very large but something on there to please everyone! Service was friendly and attentive. We sat in a small area with a great view of boats coming in! Can't wait to return .

Bacon wrapped shrimp...not worth the price

I was celebrating my 60th birthday. Scott was our server. He wished me a happy birthday and suggested a cocktail. I chose the UP NORTH MARTINI..peach vodka, vanilla vodka, cranberry juice, amaretto and sour mix. Very good. Next, I had the bacon wrapped shrimp. Not worth the $19 price tag. Very bland. My husband had the chicken and wild rice soup. I noticed that they had frog legs on the menu, and I was undecided between the frog legs or the filet. I was happy when Scott said they could do a combo of both, like a twist on surf n turf. What a DISAPPOINTMENT the frog legs turned out to be!! Over cooked, or old... no flavor and chewy. I sent them back. The filet was amazing! I had it with the wild rice and it came with fresh broccoli. Nice decor and surroundings.

Interior of lodge style seating on the Cheboygan River.

Nice experience. An Up North landmark that should be experienced. The food was good, not great, but done very well. Service was outstanding. Some of the best service we have experienced in the northern part of the state. I feel the food is high priced, but Aubrey this is a result of them making up for Covid. I would like to return, but would need to be offered a more expanded menu and a little lower price point. Being said I think it's a good experience over all.

Nice spot on river. Food and atmosphere are really good. The highlight is setting. We usually make one visit per year. We love it.

Best white fish in Michigan! Always attentive service and always check daily specials. If weather permits, take your boat.

The person answering the phone seemed annoyed and not interested. They sharply answer no. I followed up with a question about how late they are open, since we might be going later in the evening. Again, a sharp response. We disconnected after that. This was clue number one. In the evening we arrived around 5:30. Not a single car was in the parking lot. That should have been clue number two. We asked where they would like a party of ten. They pointed said push table together wherever. Then mentioned, oh we have a modified menu. A list of about 10-15 items that were all deep fried only. We had picked this place due to their variety of items. This is something that 100% should have been told to us on the phone. Don't worry, we decided to go to another place for dinner after some of the members in our group did not want fried food. Only reason this is not a 1 star is I think the name is clever. Outside that. Poor customer service both over the phone and in house. I recommend avoiding.

The wife got the Wagyu Steak, I got a rack of ribs and the kids got something off the kids menu (I can't remember what). The wife raved about her steak which came with five or six fried shrimp on top. She did something she rarely does and offered me a piece. While she likes her steaks more medium and I like them medium rare, I still found the steak to be juicy and flavorful! I started out with a basket of fried mushrooms, and what came out to the table was a HUGE basket of delicious fried mushrooms. I wanted to eat them all, but I knew I had ribs coming. The mushrooms alone will bring me back to GLG! My ribs came out and they were ok, but I would probably not get them again. When I think ribs, I think of smokey goodness and I believe these were baked. Not a huge deal, just a difference between expectations and what was received. That is on me for not asking before ordering. The server was amazingly friendly and the manager (owner?) even swung by to check on us! Best of all, my wife and I found it to be a great value for the portions and quality! GLG has made it onto our rotation when visiting the great city of Cheboygan!

The hours are created by someone who obviously doesn't need the income (open 11-8) It's tough to get off the water and get in before 8 in the summer, then like the rest of the town.. it's closed except the local bar that stays open. The food: Not impressed. 1/8# burgers with the same pricing as a normal restaurant. Fish and chips $4-5 more than average. A medium rare cheeseburger is served well-done Server was very sweet, but not knowledgeable at all. (We really don't blame her at all) We asked about 3 different items, and she was honest about not trying any dishes, maybe new? Day one training should have given staff a taste of signature food so they have something to share with customers. It was also obvious she forgot to put our drink order in and took forever to bring it to us. The place has a great view of the river, but we were so let down after waiting so long to get in. So many spoke so highly of this place, we were really hoping it to be a great experience-but it's really nothing to brag about. We finally came by during mid-afternoon while it was pouring, minimal customers and service should have been on point, but it wasn't. I can't recommend this place at all. Save your money and go to Great Lakes Grill down the street. (I didn't want to give this place any stars, but Yelp requires at least one to post)
