Absolutely DO NOT recommend renting through Pier Realty. Back in March, my husband and I booked a beach house rental for the month of July. We were planning for some downtime during my maternity leave with our two-month old son, and my husband would be able to work remote. THREE days before our rental starts on July 3rd, we get a call saying that our booking fell through due to a "glitch with the booking software". We had booked with a paper contract and a check, so not sure how it was software that screwed things up... Pier acted like it would be no big deal, they could find us another house to rent, which was definitely not the case. This was high summer in Rhode Island, only a few days before the July 4th holiday, not to mention the rental market has been insane due to the pandemic. They sent us some shitty Airbnb listings and hotel rooms that were nothing comparable to what we had originally booked. We weren't about to spend a month in a tiny, kitchenless hotel room with our two-month old... Last but not least, we were counting on this rental for our main housing for July. So, instead of spending a lovely month close to the beach during my maternity leave, we ended up having to squat in my grandmother's apartment back in hot, noisy NYC. I will say that Pier did give us our money back, but regardless of that fact, obviously this isn't a real estate company that you can trust. Avoid Pier Realty and especially the South Pier Road property I would give this zero stars if possible. I have never in my life experienced a more disorganized management system between Sandra and the home owner. I rented this with 2 other students for the academic school year. Since September, we have put multiple work orders in and none of them have been fixed (it is currently February). we have kept up with this constantly, asking when each issue would be fixed, and the reply would be "___ has been fixed" when clearly still not working. Our door knob was broken preventing us from entering the house, so their "solution," after threatening to notify the fire department about the safety issue, was to remove the doorknob completely and put a piece of tape, yes I said tape, over the hole where the door knob was. not to mention this was in January when temperatures were sub 20 degrees. On top of this, the door was fine until the "management came" over break to fix the shower door which we also waited months to be fixed. Again we put this order in September and it was fixed in January. *** The biggest problem has been our dryer squeaking so loudly that we cannot be in the house while it is running. We have put multiple orders in, even had a technician come and order a part, however the owner refused to repair it because it "still works." We were told he is waiting until the dryer breaks then it will be repaired. Lastly, the driveway is destroyed. it is filled with pot holes at least 4 inches deep so with any type of precipitation the entire lot floods. Again we addressed this in September, has still not been fixed, so if you're into ice skating, come down for a nice skate when its cold. To reiterate, each reply is some sort of excuse and none of the issues are addressed. Don't waste your time, or money. Save the stress, and avoid being scammed. read more

If you're a college student renting from pier realty, you can expect to be bombarded in the winter/springtime with tour after tour that you, as the tenant, have make time for to do yourself - not a single person from pier realty to be found for any of them. You can also expect hundreds deducted from your security deposit for "deep cleaning" the house that you left cleaner than when you moved into it. Afterwards you can expect multiple emails requesting that you leave a positive review on their page. here's mine. read more

I would give this company 0 stars if I could. Terribly managed and unprofessional. My son moved into a home in September for the academic year to find it not clean, with scratches and dents on the walls. Random visits from people asking to come into the home to do work, or random visits from the management completely violating our 48 hour notice which is stated in the lease. He has had problems with mice, and mold in the apartment. Upon telling the landlord he wanted to get the mold (which grew in his roommates shoes) checked out by a professional, they were rudely informed that if someone comes to look at it that we personally will be charged for it. This company should be shut down, please do yourself a favor and rent through Durkin or probably any other realty company besides Pier. read more

HORRIBLE service they are literally doing things illegally (WISH I COULD DO NEGATIVE ). Sandra specifically was rude and unhelpful. We had to back out of our lease sadly and after finding new tenants to take over she refused to release us from our lease. WHICH it is illegal to have two separate leases with different tenants on the same property. Sandra DOES NOT have a reality license, sends misspelled​ emails/texts. When showing us home she failed to inform one of the houses that a tour was coming so she simply let herself in which also by law you must recieve at least a 24 hour notice. This reality if unprofessional and unxperienced renting here for your children will cause undeed issues and hasle NARAGANSETT PROPERTY MANAGEMENT is the way to go they are helpful, understanding and cooperative with paying with loans read more

I do not recommend renting from Pier Realty I was looking for office space in Southern RI. I signed the lease then found out that some of the heaters didn't work and the wiring was so old that we had to pay to have it updated so that we could use our computers. There was also mold on the ceiling in one of the offices. They came in and painted it. When my lease was over after a year they charged me half the security deposit and showed me pictures of paint on the wall that they dripped when fixing the ceiling. Never returned my call when either myself or my lawyer called to resolve the issue....very unprofessional and rude. Do not rent from them unless you want to kiss your security deposit good bye. read more

I lived here back in 2016 for two years. Dealing with Pier Realty was nothing but a hassle. Sandra was always showing up with less than 48 hours notice. Every phone call asking for 48 hours notice, asking to fix something, etc was met with an argument. She would send random handymen to our house as early as 8am with way less than 24 hours notice and no confirmation from us. I feel that she was constantly trying to walk all over us just because we were students. Any time we would ask for professionalism/to stick to what we signed in the lease, we would be met with an argument and had to really stand our ground against her. Rent anywhere else read more

Rented an apartment for the school year, same experience as below, very bad, had same feelings about security deposit..

My daughter and another girl rented an apartment from Pier Realty for the school year at URI. At move in day they took pictures of any damages so as not to be charged from their security. All went well till they moved out and received an accounting from Pier of the damages totaling over 12 hundred dollars. My daughter was diligent in leaving the apartment clean as it was move in day. The realtor claimed the dish washer was broken, rugs needed replacement kitchen needed to be "reorganized" and a cleaning charge of 600$. My wife and I were in the apartment days before the last day, and I can attest these claims were bogus. After many phone calls, without a return call, my wife and daughter finally connected with the realtor who was very rude and hung up on them. Seems the only recourse is small claims court, but they know since we are out of state that's a huge pain in the butt except my daughter now lives in Providence which is convenient. If you rent from these people, it would be wise to consider your security as part of the rent, especially if your an out of stater. read more

Briefly, when moving to Providence, I signed a lease with an agent of the landlord and paid my first month and security in July 2009. When I met the landlord, he made oral changes to the lease, which legally, nullifies the lease. They also fired the agent for not being clear about the additional costs. Instead of the agent returning my funds to me, she kept my money and deducted her commission from it (the landlord was not going to pay them Pier Realty). Indeed the landlord returned the first month's rent to the agent and instructed them to return it to me since we don't have a contract. They did not return it and stopped taking my calls. When you see a Pier Realty based in Rhode Island, run as fast as you can! When I sued the employee of Pier Realty who I dealt with and gave the check to and Pier Realty in Small Claims Court in Rhode Island, I was not too surprised when they did not respond to the suit. Judgment was made in my favor, and a warrant was issued for them to respond. Instead of paying the amount ($2,033), they (Pier Realty Jennifer Mailloux who I dealt with, and James T. Morasco, who presumably owns/represents the company) requested that the judge vacate the judgment because they did not receive the initial suit. I truly doubt that. When the judge agreed on the basis that a business has to be represented by a lawyer, I was suspicious I couldn't trust the judge. I therefore got a lawyer to move the case out of small claims. I think their tactic was to just keep my money (essentially steal it) and so frustrate my efforts to get it back that I'll give up. Surely that's no way to do business or lead one's life is it? My College age son was looking for a 6 month rental for a co-op located in Johnston, RI. Since we live in CA he was looking for something furnished that he could share with two other colleagues. We hit the jackpot when we found Pier Realty which offered Student Rentals. When I spoke to Sandra everything seemed too perfect that it made me a little nervous. When my son arrived the apartment was clean, furniture was in good condition, could not ask for a better place for him to spend the next 6 months. There was also a dollar store within walking distance and an Aldi's. I would definitely recommend speaking to Sandra at Pier Realty for your rental needs. read more
