Pierces is a wonderful place to get food as well as feel comfortable in your environment! All Covid safety suggestions are followed with politeness here! They also have very clean restrooms! You order food and pick it up similar to fast food style but nothing about this restaurant food is fast food style otherwise! Thier cornbread is phenomenal and personally a staple for visiting pierces, but also the consistency of food! Thier hamburgers are phenomenal and nothing tastes over processed down to the bun! I even drank the juice from thier collard greens because they are so delicious ! By far some of the best BBQ in the area. It's always a treat to be able to stop here when we are driving by. The staff are super friendly and the food is amazing. My one concern is seating. Sometimes, sitting can be very limited because of how many people are eating. It can take a while to get a table. This isn't a huge problem though because you can wait for your food while also waiting for your table at the same time. Overall, an amazing restaurant. I would highly suggest eating here. read more

This is some of the best BBQ I have ever had. I stop in every chance I get, when I am in the area. Am sure I have been there around a hundred times, and it was well worth it. You have to try the Jumbo BBQ with slaw on it, and a order of fries. You eat that and you will not want anything else. Only bad part is it is a little hard to find if you don't know where it is. Not impressed at all. As far as the food, my husband and I both got the pulled pork BBQ dinner - BBQ was soupy and not hot. However, the hush puppies were very good. The staff was not friendly and I felt like I was in an assembly line - I even overheard one staff member bark at a customer. Drove by this place last year while at Great Wolf Lodge. Good thing I yelped it this year and decided to give it a try. Very casual, good for kids. Order then find your booth, while waiting to hear your number. We chose to order items separately, like full rack of ribs, which were tender, whole smoked chicken and sides like kale which I liked, cornbread, fries. Everything was tasty and prices are not bad. No significant changes in the 29 years my wife and I have been eating here. Still mostly yellow paint, easy to spot. Still very clean. Mr. Mac is still the greeter and general all around helper. Probably the sweetest man who ever lived. The oversized pork barbecue sandwich has a little slaw on the bottom bun and big enough to feed two, the french fries are tasty and the serving adequate for three people. The beans are excellent. The chili, if you like small cubes of meat rather than ground beef, is OK but not spicy enough for me. The corn bread is a lot like my mother's, not too sweet like most in Virginia. The winter crowd is small compared to summer, so the service is quick. The owner, son of the original, is working in the kitchen, keeping things the way they have always been. I'll be back. While we have been homebound we have been making an effort to order take out and support local businesses during this weird period we are all experiencing. We decided to order from Pierce's even though it's a little further out but it was definitely worth the drive. We ordered the pulled chicken sandwich and the brisket sandwich which were both tender and delicious. The coleslaw and beans were also delicious. The only thing we didn't enjoy were the collard greens. It just wasn't my preferred taste but I'm pretty picky when it comes to collard greens. I'll definitely be back here again! read more

It doesn't look like much from the outside - and even the inside. It's like opening a door to the 70s with the retro (or maybe real vintage?) orange and yellow booths. The food however was great. My husband got the chicken and I got the brisket and both sandwiches were lovely. The BBQ sauce is different from what I'm used to (VA v. TX) but still delicious. Although this place came highly recommended and was busy when we arrived, the service at the counter was rude and flippant. Several of the guests who placed online or phone in orders , like we did, arrived but were not aware we needed to check in before they would complete our order. Even after checking in it still took another 10 minutes which was well over our pickup time. When I pointed out that there is no sign telling us to check in, the woman behind the counter said in a very sharp and rude tone that it said to on line. When I said I didn't see that and suggested a sign might be useful as so many of the customers had the same issue, she just blew me off and went on about her other business. I asked if they sell this by the gallon and got no response? I wish some day I could visit there as I love their BBQ Sauce and will not try anything else anymore and I have tried a lot of BBQ sauces. 5 star BBQ. If you are travelling I-64 or visiting Colonial Williamsburg from out-of state or out of country, you owe it to yourself to make this a meal stop. Skip the fast food and chains today. The pulled pork sandwich is piled high and a delicious meal, but you can't go wrong with the ribs. Mac and cheese and greens for sides. Sandwhich meal served with slaw on (my preference) or on the side, and fries. Delicious. Been 20 years btwn visits (well before Yelp) and still as good as I remembered. Pierce's is a staple of the area, and I've been coming here for years. Not sure why it's so low on Yelp, but it definitely deserves more than 3.5 stars. It's almost always packed, and the food is consistently awesome. The pork bbq dinner is the way to go, with 8 ounces of bbq, coleslaw, hushpuppies, and fries. Even Bill Clinton has stopped off Interstate 64 to grab a bite here, and rumor has it, he even picked up an extra pack of hushpuppies for his friend, Monica. read more

I didn't deduct any stars for the BBQ sauce but I prefer a more vinegar based sauce, but everyone is different! Wish I had a choice/variety of sauces. The food was amazing. I can honestly say that I have not had better BBQ! Tender, fall of the bone, smoky, with just enough char. The quantity of food for the price is spot on. We came in hungry and couldn't even get half way through the tray. It was packed in the restaurant so be prepared to be sitting practically on top of the patrons next to you. I used to absolutely love this place, but it seems to have gone downhill. The sandwiches are extremely small and the sides are mediocre. I had the green beans as a side and they were straight out of a can. phoned ahead for my order and they forgot some of the order and it wasn't ready for at least 15 minutes despite calling in the order a hour in advance. After living in Texas for 5 years, I learned that the best BBQ can be found in small, off the main drag places that don't look like much on the outside. Pierces fits the bill and I thoroughly enjoyed my pulled pork sandwich! The service is great, there's plenty of seating even though it looks small from the outside. They have smoke rooms on site and you can smell the fresh BBQ! I highly recommend making this a pit stop if you're near Williamsburg! read more

This has got to be the worst Bbq place I've ever been to. Many people had recommended us to visit this restaurant while in Williamsburg, I also saw good reviews on yelp. Maybe we got there so late (8:30pm) we all ordered racks of ribs and they were so hard to chew on. There was no" fall off the bone" like my imagination. Not sure what went wrong but it was a horrible meal. We also got fries and chicken fingers: also bad. I think the only thing that we liked was corn on the cob. Great service but horrible food. It's been a few years since I've been here but they definitely don't disappoint with BBQ other than I feel like portions are a bit smaller than I remember but that didn't stop us from enjoying it. The pulled pork BBQ and Chopped chicken BBQ were delicious and the fries I'm a sucker for those and couldn't help myself . The ribs were good but definitely on the small side . We stopped in on the way to bush gardens and had a really great mean, the service was incredibly fast and friendly and we were able to find a seat even when there was a packed house. We had ribs, brisket and MAC and cheese which were all great. The hush puppies were also awesome. They only thing that was just "meh" was the fries, they weren't awful but nothing special. read more

We hadn't been in almost 20 years so decided to stop for an early dinner while visiting Williamsburg. Their burgers are outstanding and well worth the wait! The ribs were meaty and tasty. The pork was just ok - but I'm from eastern NC so it is hard to eat it anywhere else :) the sides were all hot and fresh - and plentiful! Check your bag well before you tell them something is missing because chances are you are wrong and it's there (how I missed seeing an entire Brunswick stew is beyond me LOL). You'll see this oasis on the service road to your right, and your eye will be caught by the bright colors. Go ahead and stop on in. The brisket is fork tender. The pork barbecue is equally delicious. The slaw is of the finely minced variety and does not disappoint. My only suggestion would be to switch over to fresh cut fries. The crinkle cut ones served here are good, but fresh cut would really make the food presentation that much better. Walk in, place your order, hang onto your ticket, and prepare for an extremely short wait as your order is served up piping hot.
