Huntsman has great food and wonderful service. Their menu is a bit Southern sportsman if you want something a little different.

Four of us went to Huntsman Grill for burgers, and it was a good experience. Huntsman Grill is located near Great Wolf Lodge. It has a large dining room with a hunting theme. Our burgers were large and very good. They also came with delicious fries. One of us ordered the Elk Burger, and liked it a lot too. Burgers were cooked to requested temps. Medium was pink and medium well was only slightly pink. Service was friendly and efficient. Parking is free and plentiful. read more

Had a wonderful Galentine's dinner this past Valentine's Day! The food was delicious! I had the red snapper with shrimp. Fabulous!!! Dessert too was amazing!! We had dinner here this week and there was NOTHING that was less than A+! The welcoming when we arrived foretold the great service we would have from our waitress, Alina. And the barbecue meal I had was fabulous and enough that I could take home my remaining portions and greatly enjoy it at home the next night. We also love the friendliness of the owner, his family and all of the staff. And if you haven't been there, the unique decor will be a surprise and always (on return visits) a joy. This one surprised me. We went to Williamsburg and we were looking for a place to eat on the way home. Stopped here. Service could not have been better, from the hostess, to the person that brought us our drinks to our waitress Bridgette. We would visit again, and ask to be seated in her section. Food was delicious. We ate here for dinner upon our arrival at Great Wolf Lodge. My husbands steak was cooked perfectly included broccoli & mashed potatoes. Just left from dinner and am so glad we tries this place. Great menu with options you don't get at most places. We got frog legs for an appetizer. Several of us had the elk burger and it was amazing. Flavorful and juicy, bun toasted to perfection. Onion rings and fries were perfect. My daughter for the fettuccine with garlic cream sauce and it was too notch. Desserts were decadent and delicious. I would come back again, and again, and again. We came here two days in a row. ***The menu isn't that large but I believe that's the reason the food is SOOO good!!! The restaurant was very clean, and they made sure to seat its customers meeting standards for COVID prevention. The staff was very friendly, and informative on the menu items. The drinks from the bar were Delicious, and the food Nothing short of AMAZING. I have been out to several restaurants since this pandemic, and the quality of food I received here tops them all. (Yes......I tasted everything from everyone's plate don't judge me!). I also normally don't order dessert but we did here and I was so pleased with those selections as well. The kids had the brownie sundaes (both days) and I had the cheesecake, and the peach cobbler. I really wish I had the opportunity to take pictures of how pretty the brownie dessert came to the table but the kids devoured it before I got the chance to. Staying close by and this seemed like a good place to try. I had broiled cod and shrimp special and it was tasty. My husband had BBQ platter which he said was "ok". Got peach cobbler for dessert which was good not great - didn't taste like peaches at all but the cobbler part had a nice flavor. Overall nice atmosphere, friendly service and decent food. read more

We went for lunch today and I was very disappointed in my meal. I ordered fish and chips and what I was served was fish that was so salty I couldn't eat it. I took the fish out of its fried exterior and the fish itself was not fresh and had been in a salt brine! I will not order that again! Had a nice meal here while staying at the GWL and it is indeed a short walk across the parking lot to this restaurant. You can head out the main entrance or door 2 and you'll be here quicker than driving. I'm not sure if the food was better/worse or higher/lower priced than GWL. It was a fine meal off the menu but didn't blow me away. It's very nice inside with a great fish tank to keep kids and adults entertained. Speaking of fish, the fish and chips was very good. Note that the serving wasn't that big and the chips were potato chips, not fries. I suppose I was expecting more of a steakhouse feel based on the name, but I think they can get by serving good (not great) food due to the amount of business pulled over from the lodge. I doubt locals in the area frequent it. I got the mussel/shirmp pasta dish. Seafood was good over a very small serving of pasta. Peach cobbler was good for desert. Service and management was very friendly. I'd consider it as an option if you are staying at the Lodge multiple nights. Nice bar area. read more

It was a very good restaurant! I ordered the mussels, and was impressed. The mussels were flavorful, but there were a few closed mussels, signs that it was already dead. Overall, the waitress kept my drink filled and was kind. I would truly recommend this place! read more

Hubby and I went to The Huntsman's Grill in Williamsburg (adjacent to Great Wolf Lodge) Friday evening for a date night. He had barbecue pork with an amazingly delicious mac 'n' cheese with cole slaw...but when I shared one taste of my pork shank ("Osso Bucco") with rigatoni and stewed veggies, he was sorry he didn't get the same. It was amazing but more odd was how I uncrowded the place was with such incredible food. (Maybe the 8pm closing on a weekend night?) The broth/sauce of the stew tasted of a wine base (forgot to ask what sort though) and I had to get some garlic bread to soak it all up. Tea and soda were only $1.75-coffee (to go with dessert) at another place later in the evening downtown was double that or more! I plan to give them 5 stars soon as I can get over to Yelp for a review. If you haven't been yet, you owe it to yourself to go. You'll probably make it a regular hang out like we plan to. read more

I'm honest and fair. By no means will I ever expect a place to blow my mind. But when I saw the reviews of this place, and after my experience, I was bummed out. First off: we pulled in the parking lot (with the 4.5 star rating in mind) and told ourselves "heck yea, we missed the dinner rush". Mind you, we got there at like 6:45 pm. When we walked in, we were asked "Do you have a reservation?" I looked around and there were about 70-75% tables empty. We ignored that and said we were Omar with their 25 minute wait. The host did say that reservations were highly recommended, but we waited because we figured it was that good. We got our table at around 25 minutes. Good on the host. But we sat down and waited another 10 minutes for our server to ask what we wanted to drink. (Still no "busy" vibes, but she couldn't come ask us sooner?) We got our food. For the price, (average $16-18 for a burger) I could've gone to a burger joint and got what I was served. A pre-packaged bun that was cold, a patty that was ehh, and condiments that were from an elementary cafeteria. I guess I would say that I would not recommend this place to anyone that I know that was going to the same area. Really disappointed. I ate my second half of my burger with an empty glass of tea since the server never got around to fill it up. I'm not extra, but I wouldn't come back. Sorry. Maybe this "local place" is for some, but not for me and my family. read more

Stopped by for an early dinner one night while staying with the family at Great Wolf Lodge. Pretty empty at 5pm. People started to trickle in around 6pm when we were finishing. Good kids menu. The online menu doesn't match their onsite menu, unfortunately. There was a huntsman platter on the online menu featuring venison, elk, and wild boar (I think?) that I was looking forward to trying. This is the go to place for my husband and I and when my family comes here from Short Pump. The food is consistently delicious. Over eight years in going there and we haven't had a bad meal or had to send anything back for correction. Andrew, the owner, is a wonderful person and treats us so well as does his son Tristan who manages the restaurant. They always come over for a chat and they are so warm and caring it makes your evening even better just to go there. It's in front of the Great Wolf Lodge so it's convenient for a lot of people staying there. They always take very good care of us whenever we're there, always! We have never had a complaint and I don't think we ever will. The people are great there and the food is always really good. read more

Conveniently located right outside the great wolf lodge. They accommodated our party of 7 and food was prompt and tasted great. I ordered the huntsman's chicken which was breaded chicken breast with a side of pasta. My husband ordered the market steak which was a NY strip that came with broccoli and mashed potatoes. The decor is a lot of taxidermy but it kept the kids entertained while we waited. Kids meals where perfect size for my crew. read more

While we stayed at Great Wolf Lodge we walked over for to Huntsman's Grill for dinner. They didn't look too busy, but I know that looks can be deceiving. We were a party of 7 and anticipated some sort of wait. We were quoted 15-20 minutes, though the hostess didn't bother to even write down that our group was waiting, she just claimed that she know. We understood the wait, said it was fine with us so we sat done in the little entry/lobby area to wait. After the 20 minutes my husband went to the hostess and asked if she had an idea on how much longer. 3 people in our party are kids and getting quite hangry. The hostess told my husband 5 more minutes, which again we accepted and continued to wait. A few minutes later the same hostess came out and told us that we could not be accommodated and that we need to leave. No apology for wasting our time or anything, just that we needed to go since we obviously wouldn't be eating there. My first thought was to speak with a manager but then I quickly opted to not give this restaurant anymore of my time and especially none of my money. Only gave 1 star because 0 stars isn't an option. Who knows if the food would have been good but the staff interaction my family had was horrible. read more

I tried the Huntsman grill this evening off of their relatively strong reviews on google. And below was my experience: I brought a group of 7 (2 adults and 5 kids) to this restaurant on a Saturday. It wasn't crowded when we arrived, and the place was clean, and anyone who had been there knows the decor and ambiance are befitting being located right outside the Great Wolf Lodge. Pro's: -The kids dishes are what you would expect for children's food, and for the price, the portions are large. None of my kids complained. -They have a large alcohol selection, lots of cocktails, and a separate and rather ambient bar for those just there to drink. I suspect this would be a nice place to do that (perhaps after reading the rest of this review). Con's: -I had the Huntsman's Chicken platter, and I was a little confused by this name; essentially it was fried Parmesan chicken, with two pieces of home made toast, and a rather abysmal pasta with a tomato sauce? Definitely tasted like something you got from a can. Maybe they call it the Huntsman Chicken because the tomato sauce on the chicken makes it look like it just got shot 5 minutes ago? Or maybe it's called the 'Huntsman' because that sauce is all they could find in a World War II bunker while trying to fend for survival in the middle of the forest. Who knows. But it was terrible, flavorless, and lacked any imagination. -The service was not great either. Our server (although very friendly)refused to write down most of our order, and my significant other predicted he would get her order wrong (she asked for no bun on her elk burger). It was pretty clear they just took the burger off the bun and brought it back out to us, which we could have done ourselves. The bread made the elk burger a little dryer, since they didn't cook up a new one. Had to give her a high 5 for predicting correctly. Also couldn't lock down the correct number of refills for us either, but I get it; five children is a lot to keep track of. I was not impressed with the food here at all. I'm not sure why it has such high reviews, and the cost of this unimaginative food is a bit of a reach. The menu could use a revamp, and the staff could use a reminding about attention to detail.
