We have now visited old city barbecue four or five times over the last couple years and I think I can safely suggest to you to go. What I have found over these years has been consistency. Each meal that we have had over the years has been very good. The same with the service staff and the appearance of the location. It has always been very good. We today where the place wasn't full with guests. Somewhere in between lunch and the dinner time frame. So between being seated, getting our drinks, ordering our food, and then receiving it was all very quick. We will be back again.

3.5 but our server, Bliss, was really great with my kids, so rounding up to 4. I had the pulled pork. It was kind of dry. The sweet vinegar sauce helped. The fries had a good seasoning. My son loved his tacos. The cornbread, he said, was tasty too. We sat outside and enjoyed the laid back atmosphere.

First time here. We'll start with the good. My daughter loved her chicken fingers and fries! My aunt said her chicken wings were good. I liked the taste of the cornbread!!!!! Now onto the meats. The ribs were decent. All of the food could've arrived at a better temperature. The brisket was tender. The greens.....need a total redo!!! They tasted burnt. Not edible at all. My uncle said once he put sauce on his sandwich it made a difference and it was good. Overall I'm glad we visited but I'm not so sure I'd revisit.

We had just left Busch Gardens and were absolutely starving when we stumbled upon Old City BBQ, and I'm so glad we did! The meats were amazingly tender, flavorful, and exactly what we needed after a long day. The pickled platter was such a unique touch and went perfectly with everything. It ended up being the perfect meal to finish off our day. We'd definitely come back!

2 meat plate, ribs, pork belly bites, coleslaw and pabloano mac and cheese. Probably some of the best mac and cheese I've had.

Excellent service, great food, and probably some of the best Mac and cheese I've ever had, poblano Mac and cheese.

One of my favorite parts of the plate was the brisket, it was so tender and well seasoned I highly recommend it. I also got an order of ribs and you know it's going to be good ribs once they fall off the bone. As for the sides, the coleslaw was refreshing and the fries were very crisp and fresh. Would definitely come back here again.

Me and hubby decided, to try some good ole BBQ for lunch since it's so hard to find a good spot in North Carolina. I got the chicken platter with a side of collard greens and poblano Mac n cheese. The chicken wasnt dried at all! Omg the Mac n cheese was Soo cheesy, creamy and delicious. Collard greens had piexes of bacon in it and the seasoning was on point. You will see some sauces on the table to use, vinegar, sticky patches and tide water. I love the sticky patches mix with vinegar on the pulled chicken. It's like a BBQ sauce but way better. The platter was a hit for my tummy and taste buds! I did had a side Arugula salad, the dressing they use mix with the crumble cheese, slices of applies, nuts was so refreshing after walking for a good 4 hours visiting the Jamestown Settlement. Hubby had The Big Hal sandwich ( sliced brisket, pulled pork, seared pork belly, coleslaw, red onions, soy pickle jalapenos, bread and butter pickles on a brioche bun) with a side of fries. Hubby was a happy man and finish his whole plate lol. There are some outdoor sitting, if that is your thing. Service was quick and our server was friendly. I couldn't eat all my food but trust I took it to go to enjoy later. We were very pleased with our lunch and would recommend this to new folks visiting in time!

We were craving BBQ after a long day at Busch Gardens and we came across Old City. A great little spot, the food is incredible and the servers are super nice and accommodating. I'm still dreaming of those pork belly bites, highly recommend!

When visiting Colonial Williamsburg, be sure to stop at Old City BBQ. The restaurant is only 1.5 miles away. Here's my rating: -Pork Belly Bites 5/5 The following rating 4.5/5: -Pulled Pork -Collard Greens -Banana bread pudding The following rating 4/5: -Brisket -not tender or fatty enough. -Smoked Cheddar Poblano Mac n cheese -Smoked Stout beans There's indoor/outdoor seating the outdoor had two fire pits. The service was great and restaurant decorated nicely. I definitely would come back especially, for the Pork Belly Bites! Happy Yelping :)

Their brisket was soft and you have 3 different bbq sauce to choose from. I ordered their seared pork belly bahn mi and it was huge for me. I wish they seasoned the pork belly more tho and I didnt really taste any sauce to the bread. Bread was crispy pn the outside and soft inside and same as their cornbread.

I will be honest the food is fantastic!!! The ambiance is fitting for a BBQ joint. I love the casual and fun design of the restaurant. They played up the local and BBQ mix. The service was good but pushy. I didn't enjoy how hard my server was trying ro sell dessert. I wanted to ask her if she got commission on it. Back to the food though. I got the brisket dipper and holy smokes. The brisket was juicy and flavorful and the dip made it even better. I got the sweet potato fries which were good but not great. But I'd return for the brisket any day. My date got the taco sampler and beans and said they were delicious. They disappeared quickly too.

Small portions high prices. Brisket had no flavor or smoke ring, more like pot roast. Robs were just meh.

Rocco's Smokehouse kept popping up when we searched for places to eat, so we decided to give it a shot. We weren't really in the mood for barbecue, and they only had ONE steak option, but the menu looked so interesting that we figured, why not? There was about a 15-20 minute wait, which immediately had me thinking, "Okayyy, maybe we made the right choice!" The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and had a great vibe. IMPORTANT: Navigation took us to the wrong location, so pay close attention to the Yelp directions. Rocco's is currently operating from a temporary location. Once we were seated, our waiter was right over to take our drink order. First things first--the sweet tea is MAGNIFICENT! And let me tell you what you NEED to order: Smoked barbecue wings -- MUST ORDER -- absolutely get it! Rocco actually brought it to our table and warned us that we would be hooked and he was right! I originally wanted the lump crab cakes, but I didn't see anyone else ordering them, so I took my waiter's recommendation and went with the brisket quesadillas. GREAT decision! They were juicy, flavorful, and downright scrumptious. My partner ordered Platter #3, which came with ribs, a quarter chicken, and pork barbecue. The chicken was his favorite--he could not stop talking about it! You could really taste that smoky flavor in the meat. The macaroni and cheese was pretty good too. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by Rocco's. We went in craving steak and left talking about smoked wings, chicken, brisket, and barbecue! Would I go back? Absolutely! And next time, those crab cakes are getting ordered! #WilliamsburgVA #WilliamsburgEats #VirginiaFoodie #RoccosSmokehouse #Foodie #YelpEats #BBQ #FoodReview #VirginiaRestaurants

First impression NOISY. This place is loud. High ceilings and open dining area makes the voices reverberate throughout the woke restaurant. The BBQ was ok, chicken dried out and the pork only average. Their sauce was the perfect blend of sweet with just the right about of spice. The place was clean and the service was decent. Not a bad bbq place but definitely has room for improvement.

The German Dog had a great combination of sauerkraut and spicy brown mustard, with plenty of topping in every bite. The corn dog was golden and crisp on the outside with a juicy hot dog inside. The real surprise was the pickle fries. They were crunchy, tangy, well seasoned, and especially good with the dipping sauce. The menu has a lot of creative choices beyond ordinary hot dogs, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. The restaurant also has a welcoming, family-owned feel that makes the experience even better. A fun local spot with great food and plenty of personality. Let's see how this stop turned out. We were able to get a table during lunch time where there was a good crowd on hand. Since it was the 4th, I expected there would be a few more. The staff was pretty busy taking care of diners and orders ready for takeout. It was a little warm inside, but it wasn't a surprise given the weather was really hot. And there was a fan literally behind is blowing out much needed air. The special they had for the 4th was $2.50 corn dogs and $2.50 PBR beer. We said no to beer, but couldn't resist corn dogs. My order consisted of two of them and a small order of cheese curds. Sophia ordered two corn dogs and a Roadhouse hot dog. This was the first time in a long time I'me had corn dogs so I couldn't resist given the special. And boy did they deliver. I actually started to get full after eating my first one. They were really good and well cooked. And great call to add cheese curds to the meal. Tasted great especially with the sauce. Sophia enjoyed her selections and had leftovers to take home as well. There you have it. Another great lunch for the two of us. We'll be back soon :)
