We came as a family for my birthday. We've been to YROC countless times. This time they put us up in the 'new addition' It was horrible! One fan. No acoustic panels anywhere up there. No restrooms. We couldn't even hear ourselves talk. The wait staff was amazing, but you could tell they were stressed beyond max. They had to bring our food up a very narrow staircase and one of our trays filled with 5-6 dinners was dropped. My scallops were raw. Together we numbered 18 people. My husband and I paid $300+ just for us. It was hot and miserable. I wrote the very next day expecting a rely from the management or owner. Not once was I contacted. If you're going to expand without thought of your customers experience, that's unbelievable and disrespectful. It'll be a good while before we even consider coming back. read more

Wow! What an amazing experience. We were visiting from Texas and decided to find a restaurant near the waterfront. We stumbled upon this place by accident and we're so glad we did! The hostess was friendly and seated us by a window with a great view. Our server, Jessica S., was fantastic--friendly, upbeat, attentive, and genuinely made our visit enjoyable. An unexpected bonus was that we happened to be seated next to her parents, who were having lunch there as well. They were incredibly warm and welcoming, which made us feel right at home. The food portions were enormous! We thought Texas portions were big, but these were even larger than what we're used to back home. Best of all, the food was absolutely delicious. Our chairs were back to back with other people around us. It made it hard for people to get in and out and the staff had to find other ways around all of us to bring out food, drinks, and just to take our orders. That part really sucked. I hated that the person who was behind me kept bouncing around in his chair, which kept hitting mine, and getting up and down over and over. Went out last night to do a girl night out to close out the summer official with this hidden gem it's off the coast where you have two story outdoor patio to lounge and gets some good bites with a view of the pier with all the boats. Parking was kind of confusing at first there was reserved parking for people are sailing and park but towards the actual restaurant there was parking lot but it seem like there a lot more people than spaces to get in. Wait time is definitely longer than what I would be willing to wait for but since we travel so far and want to try there food it was worth the wait we waited about 40 minutes due to them having a a long waitlist and being super busy they do the text system to let you know when your table is ready but once they send the message be aware that you only have 5 minutes to get to the server that will be my only thing the wait time to get to the server should be longer. We Dine indoor was nice and comfortable with booth and chair option with a nice view to enjoy our drinks and food and just be able to enjoy the night without having to worry about noise control. They did have a live band as we are leaving perfect for entertainment for live music lovers. There food was very good I got both there oysters bienville nice warm and buttery with the right amount of acid from the vegetables they mixed in and ahi tuna tower is my favorite presentation and flavor profile was absolutely fresh with some kick to it but a good amount and the wonton chips are perfect combo to add on with richness . read more

Tonight we had dinner at YROC (York River Oyster Company) located at 8109 Yacht Haven Road in Gloucester Point. This is a beautiful location for a seafood restaurant, it's right on the York River and the view is stunning. We arrived about 5:30 without a reservation but we were lucky enough to score a couple of seats at the downstairs bar. There is also an upstairs bar but it was packed to the gills with people. The bartenders, Candace, Chris and Nicole were fantastic. They were super busy, but they still managed to keep our drinks filled, offer us recommendations for food and chat with us about many different things. We tried several items on the menu starting with the Bangin' Shrimp for $14. This is a Crispy Fried Shrimp coated with Bang Bang Sauce. It was cooked perfectly and delicious. We also tried the Ceviche with Mahi Mahi, Pineapple, cucumber, and onions. We really enjoyed it. For dinner my wife had the Ahi Tuna Tower for $18. Everything was fresh and delicious. I had the Crab Cake Sandwich served with shoestring fries. This was a fantastic rendition of the classic sandwich. It's was served piping hot and it was really good. We had a great time at this wonderful restaurant. For us, it's well worth the drive from Chesapeake to get here. I think I will always recommend this place to anyone that's in the Hampton roads area. The overall ambiance of the restaurant is great. It's on the water with indoor or outdoor seating. They have a great selection of drinks and have also updated their menu. The price surprisingly hasn't changed much, for a party of three including my little one I paid 101$ that's with having alcoholic beverages with our lunch and getting dessert. We had planned a trip to the YROC to celebrate my mom's 82 birthday. We knew it would be busy on a Saturday night but as it's winter not summer, I don't think we grasped HOW busy it would be. Not really. It took us about 40 min to get our drinks...and the order was wrong. Our starters came shortly after and we had barely finished when our mains came out. Now, I can fully appreciate it was a busy kitchen, but there were some boo boos. To start, I ordered a Southern Revival. It comes in a whiskey glass. The thing is, I saw several of these being served and they were all full serves where mine was about halfway. If I'm paying $12 for a drink..give a full pour right? The wings that my brother in law ordered were the wrong ones. He asked for the mild buffalo and got super hot. Poor guy has Parkinson's so it was a rough go for him. We were all so hungry though that we just kept our food/drink. I ordered the YROC salad and wow. What a fantastic salad. Spinach, walnuts, apples, cranberry, and red onion with a raspberry vinaigrette. YUM! My sister got the cheese curds and from the way she devoured them I'm thinking they were pretty tasty. We all ordered a range of dishes as mains. I got the Mahi tacos (since the Huli chicken wasn't on the menu), mom got the captains special, her friend got the Trifecta, sis got the bang bang shrimp tacos and b-i-l got a burger. With the exception of the burger it was an amazing meal. We were so very full by the time we left we could barely walk to the car. We took a few moments to admire the view before heading home. This is a very casual, come as you are place for a good meal. Not sure about conversation if you eat inside, bring a sweater for eating out. If you don't like crowds but dig the vibe try lunch. Parking can be a challenge especially when they are really busy. There is a run off lot but it's a bit of a hike. Still...so worth spending a Saturday night with good food and great ambiance. Food was very good. We went on a Saturday at 4:00 not busy when we arrived. We were told it would be a 15 min wait for outdoor seating, which was fine. As we sat there waiting to be seated we watched as they seated over 30 people to other areas of the restaurant. This would have been fine had the open outdoor area not had 6 tables that emptied out, just sat there waiting to be cleared. The 3 people that were seating people were more interested in seating the new comers then clearing tables for people waiting for tables. There were 7 parties waiting for outdoor seating. We ended up waiting 40 min and then were only seated because I walked over and made a point of looking at all the empty tables. One of the greeters noticed, went and cleared a table and then seated us. Really should take care of the people waiting if tables are available, before continuing to take new guests. read more

We were visiting from out of town and this spot was recommended by our friends who are locals. The restaurant has a casual, yet beautiful and relaxed ambiance while overlooking a large boat marina. Our group of 6 was able to snag a table right along the edge of the patio overlooking the water. We both had the Mango Orange Crushes that were really good and a Happy Hour special. We ordered a dozen raw oysters not knowing what the price was as they came highly recommended and we received a bakers dozen. Turned out to be $27/dozen, but we had been on a sail with Captain Bill and when we presented the card he gave us our server kindly took off 10%, $2.70. On 19 September 2025, my sister and I treated our brother to dinner at YROC on the bank of the York River. Maaaannnn, that was some good eats!!!!we got there in time for happy hour which included 20% off appetizers and half off select cocktails. My brother and I ordered the seafood trifecta dinner and our sister created a meal with blackened fish bites, Gouda grits and a house salad. Of the three appetizers, I enjoyed the crabby bird snd shrimp the most...maaaannnnI was humming and dancing in my seat. Then my dinner arrived. You talk about GOOD fresh seafood. The trifecta was broiled shrimp and scallops topped with crab meat in the lemon butter sauce with mashed potatoes and asparagus. My sister said her fish bites were tasty and the consistency of steak. Food presentation is wonderful, and our server was top notch, even on a busy night. Family got the tuna steak, which was huge, and sweet potato fries. They were a little undercooked. Steamed shrimp platter was $20 with no sides, but did have 20 shrimp. Chef salad was huge. I had the fries and they were super crispy-too hard to eat. Mixed feelings here. Came on a Sunday after Daffodil festival around 5 with a party of 4. We were told it was about a 25-30 min wait. To our surprised the wait was only about 5 mins so we got seated. We sat for about 15 mins and no one came to us, not even for water. There were tables seated after us who got water before us. I asked one server serving the table next to us if he was our server and he said no and kind of said tuff luck. After about another 5 mins, I asked another server and she actually got help and ended up taking over our table. A manager came by and apologized and comped us an appetizer. Service after that was great! Food came quick, server was attentive, checked on us frequently but when it was time to pay we had to hunt them down again. So service was very mixed. The food was good. Crab balls were delicious, calamari could use some more seasoning, Baja fish tacos could use more seasoning but the sauce was good. My daughter killed the kids pizza so guess that was good. My friend's kids chicken tenders came out burnt but we didn't bother saying anything about it. My friend said her mahi mahi fish tacos were too.
