Pierogis potato and cheddar with cabbage roll
    Gary R.

Well we were there 2 years ago and not impressed. Figured give it another try and it was better but still lacking something. The service was good and it's a big restaurant with multiple seating options. The menu is diverse but you go for the pierogis I would guess. The prices are fair but the add ons increase the price and let's face it having pierogis without buttered sautéed onions is just wrong. The pierogis are decent but since all are exactly the same you wonder if they are homemade fresh or frozen. If they have an automated machine than that would make sense but I'm not sure. All in all it was ok but not the wow factor we were hoping for.

Loved everything about this place. Stopped in on our way to Gulfport on a whim as it is hard to find true authentic Ukrainian food & I'm so happy we did. The food is as close to what my Bobby's cooking was. Pierogis were so clean tasting. You could taste every bite. Just the plain potato ones had so much character. Also, ordered the martini there and the bar tender was able to switch out gin for vodka. Omg! She made two martinis with two different Ukrainian vodkas both which complimented the drink so well. Dill heavy and tastey. The owner came out and talked as well which I always prefer. We talked about family roots and drinking stories. So much fun. Love the environment & love how true to the culture they make this food. Can't wait to take my family there to try it!

This place was so cool! The server was very attentive to our questions and made helpful suggestions. The pierogies are hand made and have a lovely texture and flavor. We can't wait to come back and bring family!

Food was amazing. Stopped on our way back home from the beach. Cannot wait to come back here. We got the borscht, pickle soup, potato pancake appetizer, 3 different pierogi platters with the cabbage roll and added the kovbasa link. 10/10.

Oh my, the pierogis were so good. We ordered the variety plate...what a good decision. The dough chewey and soft, the fillings delicious. We also shared the Ukrainian meatballs with mashed potatoes words cannot describe the delight my palate had with each bite. Oh and don't forget the martini bar...the lemon drop martini so pucker good and our waitress/bartender Heather the most incredible! We will be back, maybe tomorrow! Oh the ambiance so pretty.

Last night we were a party of 4. Found this place on Yelp and we love Pierogi's plus the menu items looked really interesting as well. My wife had the Pierogi platter which was 18 pierogis plus sides. Also she ordered the potato pancakes. I had the Lamb shank which was very nice with mashed potato's, vegetables and a fantastic thick sauce. We all really enjoyed the whole meal. Our waiter was very knowledgeable on the menu and how the food was prepared. On the way out we ended up having a very nice conversation with the owner and validated our feelings that we wanted to come back. Other items I will try include the pickle soup (yes and we did get a taste and it was excellent), the pot roast and the schnitzel. The portions were just right as well. Not a place to be skipped.

Loved this place!! Olena was the best!! She is fast and very accommodating!! Sweet upscale yet family environment. Pierogis are amazing!! Potato packages the best we've had!! My husband had the Potato pancakes with smoked salmon and a poached egg for brunch. Great brunch options, would love to do dinner too! Cheese filled crepes yum!! Awesome drinks too!! Go check it out!

First time here. Meat pierogies were the only pierogies I liked. Potato pancakes were good. Chicken Kiev (hubby's dish) was really good! I had the Ukrainian Meatballs, which was ok but I wouldn't order it again. The kielbasa looked so good, but we unfortunately didn't try it. We have to go back again to try the kielbasa. The table next to us got it after we ordered, and we were like DAAAAMN.... those look good! Ambience is nice. Waiter was nice. We had a really sweet couple (Filipina & her American husband) dining next to us who ended up paying for our meal in secret!! If you're reading this, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I really wish I could thank them in person. I would definitely come back again to try more dishes.

We started with the Potato Vareniki which are Ukrainian homemade pierogis, filled with potato & dill then topped with caramelized onions. Very similar to Chinese dumplings in texture. Served with sour cream and trust me it makes a difference to eat it with the condiment. I ordered the Duck At Dusk and it was absolutely delightful. Cooked medium rare, the pan-seared duck breast was tender, juicy and full of flavor. The pieces were small but the skin to fat to lean meat ratio was great. The presentation was beautiful with the pearl onions and tri-color carrots on top of mango-apricot gel, cilantro oil, date jus. My husband ordered the Sample Platter which includes sample-sized Beef Stroganoff (sirloin tip steak, onions and white mushrooms, served over egg noodles), Lamb Plov (jasmine rice, Australian lamb, carrots, onion, barberries, cumin), Chicken Kyiv (breaded boneless chicken breast, filled with mozzarella cheese, butter and herbs) & Golubtzy (cabbage leaves wrapped around ground beef and rice filling). Our favorite was the Golubtzy for the unique flavors and the nice consistency of the wraps. The mashed potatoes in the center was also fluffy and delicious. The parking can be a bit tricky but there's extra parking in the back. The service is friendly and informative but you may have to flag them down to place orders and get your check. Great place for a date night or group meal to share the dishes.

Hidden gem takes on a new meaning when the restaurant is in fact, hidden. We received a friendly welcome when we walked in and shown to a table. I knew they offered Beef Stroganoff and did end up ordering it as my entrée, but started with their Lagman soup. Listed as a noodle soup, it was much more than that. Very flavorful red broth, with beef, veggies and of course those homemade pulled noodles. My wife and I split a bowl and both of us had plenty of soup. Next came the Beef Stroganoff, and this is where I should defer to the other reviews that speak very highly of the authenticity of the dishes at Garden of Joy. I believe everyone in the restaurant except us, staff and customers, spoke Russian, so you know this is the real deal. As for me, I admit I like my wife's stroganoff better, but I suppose my expectations were not fair and biased. We completed our meal by sharing a Napolean Cake, a layered treat that was an excellent finish. I forgot to ask if it was made in house or brought in, but either way it was I'm glad we tried it.
