Pierogis potato and cheddar with cabbage roll
    Gary R.

Well we were there 2 years ago and not impressed. Figured give it another try and it was better but still lacking something. The service was good and it's a big restaurant with multiple seating options. The menu is diverse but you go for the pierogis I would guess. The prices are fair but the add ons increase the price and let's face it having pierogis without buttered sautéed onions is just wrong. The pierogis are decent but since all are exactly the same you wonder if they are homemade fresh or frozen. If they have an automated machine than that would make sense but I'm not sure. All in all it was ok but not the wow factor we were hoping for.

Loved everything about this place. Stopped in on our way to Gulfport on a whim as it is hard to find true authentic Ukrainian food & I'm so happy we did. The food is as close to what my Bobby's cooking was. Pierogis were so clean tasting. You could taste every bite. Just the plain potato ones had so much character. Also, ordered the martini there and the bar tender was able to switch out gin for vodka. Omg! She made two martinis with two different Ukrainian vodkas both which complimented the drink so well. Dill heavy and tastey. The owner came out and talked as well which I always prefer. We talked about family roots and drinking stories. So much fun. Love the environment & love how true to the culture they make this food. Can't wait to take my family there to try it!

This place was so cool! The server was very attentive to our questions and made helpful suggestions. The pierogies are hand made and have a lovely texture and flavor. We can't wait to come back and bring family!

Oh my, the pierogis were so good. We ordered the variety plate...what a good decision. The dough chewey and soft, the fillings delicious. We also shared the Ukrainian meatballs with mashed potatoes words cannot describe the delight my palate had with each bite. Oh and don't forget the martini bar...the lemon drop martini so pucker good and our waitress/bartender Heather the most incredible! We will be back, maybe tomorrow! Oh the ambiance so pretty.

Loved this place!! Olena was the best!! She is fast and very accommodating!! Sweet upscale yet family environment. Pierogis are amazing!! Potato packages the best we've had!! My husband had the Potato pancakes with smoked salmon and a poached egg for brunch. Great brunch options, would love to do dinner too! Cheese filled crepes yum!! Awesome drinks too!! Go check it out!

Last night we were a party of 4. Found this place on Yelp and we love Pierogi's plus the menu items looked really interesting as well. My wife had the Pierogi platter which was 18 pierogis plus sides. Also she ordered the potato pancakes. I had the Lamb shank which was very nice with mashed potato's, vegetables and a fantastic thick sauce. We all really enjoyed the whole meal. Our waiter was very knowledgeable on the menu and how the food was prepared. On the way out we ended up having a very nice conversation with the owner and validated our feelings that we wanted to come back. Other items I will try include the pickle soup (yes and we did get a taste and it was excellent), the pot roast and the schnitzel. The portions were just right as well. Not a place to be skipped.

First time here. Meat pierogies were the only pierogies I liked. Potato pancakes were good. Chicken Kiev (hubby's dish) was really good! I had the Ukrainian Meatballs, which was ok but I wouldn't order it again. The kielbasa looked so good, but we unfortunately didn't try it. We have to go back again to try the kielbasa. The table next to us got it after we ordered, and we were like DAAAAMN.... those look good! Ambience is nice. Waiter was nice. We had a really sweet couple (Filipina & her American husband) dining next to us who ended up paying for our meal in secret!! If you're reading this, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I really wish I could thank them in person. I would definitely come back again to try more dishes.

Our first visit to a unique Ukrainian restaurant Pierogie Bar in St. Pete, owned by my wife's good friends, Ulyana Sabadylo-Voloshyn and Roman Voloshyn from Lviv, Ukraine. As you walk in, you are welcomed by a warm atmosphere of Ukrainian decor, soothing Ukrainian music and appetizing aroma of Ukrainian authentic cuisine. I enjoyed a Kozak platter with artisan sausage, potato pancakes, and farmer cheese & potato pierogies pan-seared to crispy perfection. My wife had Tart Cherry pierogies (her favorite childhood dessert) - both tangy and sweet, melting in her mouth. Also not to overlook a varity of crafted martinis. My wife enjoyed a "Mahia" martini made with beetroot and white pepper reduction which she stated was refreshingly one of a kind! I enjoyed the "Almond Joy" Martini. The wait staff and service was excellent! Very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and the culture behind the food. Highly recommend visiting this place for a unique cultural and gastronomic experience.

This place has become a staple during our St. Pete visits! Great food, specially the pierogis and sausage, although a bit on the pricier side. During our last visit I was little dissapointed in the Cabbage Roll as I found them bit sweet. I'm used to cabbage rolls being much more savory and sour from other european restaurants. Both the meat stuffing and sauce could have been a bit more savory. Other than that, everything was great! Friendly staff too! Will keep coming back!

    Best martini I've ever had!

AMAZING everything! Food is fresh and from scratch, so delicious. Our server Olena was sweet, kind, and helpful. She made this first experience certain that we will be back.

Pierogis, onions, kovbasa sausage, Ukrainian dirty martini, and Southern Cucumber drink are pictured here.

I also tried the Georgian Eggplant Roulett which surprised me when it came out cold, as I've always had eggplant in warm dishes in the past, but I just loved the fresh, flavorful experience of this dish. What a unique and tasty dish! We were the only ones in the restaurant when we dined, as we went at an off hour of the day, with another table joining later. Thus, the service was top-tier and extremely attentive, and I found everyone we encountered to be friendly and helpful. Overall, this was a great experience and I will 100% be back again.

It had an authentic…read morefeel to it and the menu was full of different wines, beers, entrees and desserts from different regions. We started with the Potato Vareniki which are Ukrainian homemade pierogis, filled with potato & dill then topped with caramelized onions. Very similar to Chinese dumplings in texture. Served with sour cream and trust me it makes a difference to eat it with the condiment. I ordered the Duck At Dusk and it was absolutely delightful. Cooked medium rare, the pan-seared duck breast was tender, juicy and full of flavor. The pieces were small but the skin to fat to lean meat ratio was great. The presentation was beautiful with the pearl onions and tri-color carrots on top of mango-apricot gel, cilantro oil, date jus. My husband ordered the Sample Platter which includes sample-sized Beef Stroganoff (sirloin tip steak, onions and white mushrooms, served over egg noodles), Lamb Plov (jasmine rice, Australian lamb, carrots, onion, barberries, cumin), Chicken Kyiv (breaded boneless chicken breast, filled with mozzarella cheese, butter and herbs) & Golubtzy (cabbage leaves wrapped around ground beef and rice filling). Our favorite was the Golubtzy for the unique flavors and the nice consistency of the wraps. The mashed potatoes in the center was also fluffy and delicious. The parking can be a bit tricky but there's extra parking in the back. The service is friendly and informative but you may have to flag them down to place orders and get your check. Great place for a date night or group meal to share the dishes.

My first visit was with an event and not a normal set up, but wasn't impressed during that visit...and it really set the tone for the next visit.. I really didn't want to come back. But I did, it deserves a second chance, but unfortunately it fell short yet again. The service was friendly enough, but not great. When I ordered an item off the menu, they told me it wasn't available. So I then needed another minute to decide what I wanted. When the server returned I ordered another item and again, they didn't have it. But then proceeded to tell me all the items that were not available that evening. WHY wouldn't he have said when the first item wasn't available, all the other items that weren't available. I really wanted some vegetables....so when I couldn't have really much of anything but the dumplings, I asked if I could have some of the vegetables from the entrees that were all unavailable with the dumplings but he said he could not do that. I think the language barrier created some issues in this case. They couldn't accommodate much of anything. That's too bad. I won't be back to this location.

Very flavorful red broth, with beef, veggies and of course those homemade pulled noodles. My wife and I split a bowl and both of us had plenty of soup. Next came the Beef Stroganoff, and this is where I should defer to the other reviews that speak very highly of the authenticity of the dishes at Garden of Joy.
