A hidden gem nestled in Downtown La Mesa's Public Square Coffee, Pierre's Pizza Place is a MUST try. But try it quick, as they are KNOWN to sellout - and for GOOD reason.

A great new pizza addition to the La Mesa village. They are only open some nights of the week so check their site! I stopped in on Friday right when the opened at 5pm. They are currently inside Public Square coffee and I've heard there are plans to expand into the old Hoffers. The wait time was 15-20 mins but I am sure that gets longer the busier they get. They had lots of drink options and good recommendations coming from the staff. I wish this place was open more often!

These pepperoni are experiencing what academics often refer to as "the curly crispies".

Let me speak plainly and clearly: I can NOT sing this pizza's praises enough. Pierre's Pizza Place operates out of Public Square Coffee House in downtown La Mesa. Now, I could go on and on about Public Square: the quality, the ambiance, the absolute star cast of friendly and compassionate staff. And I will! But that belongs on the Public Square yelp page (https://www.yelp.com/biz/public-square-la-mesa-3?uid=mu0L8OIXeNK7tckITy3mJw). Here, I just want to focus on the meat and cheese of the matter. Y'all, the pizza is just to die for. Exhibit one: quality. Beautifully crisped crust with a soft, chewy interior, cheese that is so flavorful but not overwhelming, and--if you're a sophisticate, like me--you can get pepperoni and jalapeño on that sucker and have your life permanently altered. The menu lists pepperoni, pepperoni & jalapeño, and cheese as your options, but they also have weekly specials that are very much worth keeping your eye on. I'm not a person who's keen on holding back, so once the plate has been delivered, I'm jumping right in with a big bite, but be warned: that cheese is gonna come out PIPING hot, fresh from the oven, so do exercise caution and restraint. Let's talk value. At time of writing, a slice costs between $6 and $8, but if you're picturing a sad, limp slice of lukewarm grease bread from your nationwide pizza franchise de préférence, then you have another thing coming, my dear. First off, it's Public Square, not Public Circle...so I hope you like your slices in quadrilateral form. And second, these slices live very much in three dimensions. We've got length, we've got width, and boyyyy do we have girth. These slices are thicccc. That's four c's, if you weren't counting. One slice might not be enough to satisfy your taste buds, but it'll satisfy your stomach with unexpected gusto. For a full pizza, you're looking at around 25 bucks before tax and tip. Again, the form factor is not what you would expect from a Pizza Hutch or a Dominique's or a Poppa Ron's. You could feed three people easily, and might even squeeze in a fourth. It's a great choice for a nice sit-down (maybe to enjoy the open mic night they host every few Wednesdays?), though bringing one home for a game night or sports event will earn you the utmost respect and adulation of your friends. That's a guarantee. And why would I lie to you? I love you. Guys, jokes aside, I just can't encourage you hard enough to give this place a try. As of right now, pizza is 5pm-8pm, Wednesday thru Sunday. Give these good folks the love they deserve so they can continue to do their amazing work, and to inspire people like me to write...whatever the hell this is. Five stars, only because Yelp won't let me do six. But that's just me being extra. Can you imagine??

So far, I've tried the pandan, the brown sugar, and the sesame latte all iced w/ oat milk and they've all been a hit. The pandan is easily my fave, but if you're trying the brown sugar and don't love super sweet drinks I'd recommend adding an extra shot to balance it out. The drinks are consistently good and you can tell they really care about the quality. It's one of those spots you keep thinking about and end up going back to without even planning it. Customer service was solid and there's plenty of seating, which makes it a nice place to hang out or get some work done. Parking was also easy, which is always a win. Highly recommend checking this place out especially if you're a pandan lover like me!

It would usually take a half hour to get a simple drink order. Food that was previously wow turned into meh (I'm looking at you, shashuka). I don't blame the baristas. I don't think the business owners ever properly streamlined their ordering process / menu to get items out effectively. I hope we get something nice to replace this space.

Ordered two coffees, the coconut coffee & the Turkish hazelnut coffee. The coconut coffee has real coconut flakes in it,which makes the overall taste come through much better. Looking forward to coming back to try other drinks.

Update after the owner's response:…read more I appreciate the response, but I stand by my experience. Whether the wait was 5 minutes or 20, we were standing at the pickup counter after receiving a notification that our order was ready, and no one acknowledged us until we spoke up. During a rush, communication still matters. I also want to clarify that I never claimed to have a dairy intolerance or allergy, because I do not. I simply stated that all of us became sick shortly after consuming the drinks and pastry we purchased there. I never claimed to know the exact cause -- only the timing of what occurred. What disappointed me most was not just the experience itself, but the defensive and dismissive tone of the response instead of a more professional acknowledgment of a customer concern. I genuinely wanted to enjoy this place because it is cute and came recommended to me, but unfortunately this was my experience.

I was on my way to church and needed an early cup and was surprised how many shops were not open at 7 AM. I'm sure I could have found a Starbucks but that's always reserved for a last resort. The barista opened right on time (7 AM) I loved how friendly she was for it being that early, and she got me my drink within 3-4 minutes. I am not a big coffee drive-thru guy, but if I lived in the area, especially knowing it is veteran owned, I might become one. Thanks guys and best of luck!

The la mesa latte was super yummy and while I'm not the biggest fan of cold foam on lattes this one was pleasantly good! I had also gotten a bagel with cream cheese which I don't believe was toasted and would say that was the only downside but the delicious amount of cream cheese definitely helped.

So much space, friendly staff, reasonable prices, with a bunch of gluten-free and vegan options when it comes to food. Plenty of parking, outdoor seating as well, and even when they were busy, I think I did not wait more than five minutes for my drink. I chose to use their honey syrup instead of regular honey, and was not disappointed with my iced oatmilk latte also, I have to point out something you don't typically see at a lot of coffee shops.
