Let's just go about this in chronological order:
Parking in Charleston is a hot mess. Not to mention it was rainy and a Friday night. We literally had to loop around 3 times, waiting for someone to pull away and leave, so we could snag their spot. Even near-by side streets were full! Also, Charleston meters only go up to an hour? We had to put more coins in before we were even seated... not that I noticed anyone giving out tickets for expired meters. Maybe I'm only paranoid because they are Nazi's in Columbus w/ that stuff.
Now, off to the actual establishment. First impression, how cute! It is a nice spot to take a date, or a hang out spot with the girls. However, once we entered, we were told a wait would be 10-15 minutes. Try 45 minutes later, after people arriving after us were seated before we were. Annoyed x10. What kept the wait bearable? This 8 yr old who kept putting stickers on her face. Obviously I couldn't stop laughing, and my friend I was with felt very uncomfortable, but I thought she was hilarious, and she thought she was, too. Hence she kept looking at me and sticking more stickers on her face. Winning.
It did seem like the customer service was attentive, however. One of the hostesses even went outside to give menus to waiting patrons, but seriously... just learn how to properly sit people. Even our waiter was knowledgeable and offered great suggestions.
We were finally seated at a cramped two person table pushed up against a wall, down a narrow hallway. Which was fine, but obv. couldn't hold the pitcher of beer and all the food.
Beer: Umm, aren't you called Pies & PINTS? Why only approx. 4 beers on draft with 2 kegs empty? Yes, the bottle selection was impressive, but really? Pies and PINTS!
Appetizers: We ordered Cheesy Flat Bread and the Small Spinach Salad to share. I died and went to heaven with that salad. The dressing balanced the flavor so well, and the portion was way more than enough.
Pizza: Thankfully, the pizza came out after a few minutes of letting our stomach's settle and prepare. The small, 10" was plenty enough for two people, and because of our appetizers, we took some home to share. (Which we even forgot at the table, but the hostess came chasing us down in the rain to give us!) I let the birthday girl choose the pizza, Chicken Gouda. OMGGGGGGGGGGGGG, I don't even know how I can explain the goodness that existed on my plate. Huge chunks of chicken drizzled lightly with sauce and cheesy goudness (see what I did there). It balanced perfect with the crust.
Overrall, it is a tad pricey, but no more than the fancy-shmancy pizza places in C-bus. I want one here in Columbus. :( Please and thankyou.
$50 total for a pitcher of Oktoberfest, 2 app's, and a small pizza. Not too bad for a celebratory evening. read more
