Italian sandwich

GARDEN FRESH TOMATO ON MY SANDWICH I have only had one of their sandwiches but is was really good. The bread was really fresh and nice and soft on the inside and crunchy in the outside. I took one bite and thought why does this taste so good and remind me of my childhood. The bread was really fresh, the meats tasted great but it was something else. I thought it might be the tomatoes. I asked if the tomatoes came from the store and they said that the owner has a garden in the back of the restaurant and when in season serves fresh home grown tomatoes (at least on the sandwiches as far as I know). Can not believe the difference this made, I knew it was something but crazy how a hyper local tomato can be SO good.

Look at the garbage quality of that cheese

At first sight Pietro's looks like a great restaurant very modern decor inside, staff seems nice. Now what's great decor without great food. I ordered a pepperoni pie and a chicken frisco sandwich. Chicken was dry there was no honey mustard had to add more to it. Now the pizza is on a whole other planet. The mozzarella they use is absolutely shit. The sauce taste like they use prego marinara sauce. I definitely think they should give their pizzas away. Just to show you how much shit this pizza is I have a couple pictures of it. Pietros need to step up their game or get rid of their cook one of the other. Never eating this garbage again

This review is a week plus in the waiting but definitely deserved by Pietro's. I was craving a hamburger (not unusual for me) and my fiancé was in the mood for something from Pietro's so, I decided to give their bacon cheeseburger a shot. SURPRISE! It was actually really good - it could be pretty hit or miss from a place you go to for quality Italian food. I was not expected it to arrive on a pizza bread but that was probably exactly what put it over the top for me. The patty was thick and juicy and all of the accompaniments were super fresh and plentiful. They were not stingy on the bacon like I find many establishments to be either. The french fries were perfectly seasoned and of the proper size. I highly suggest trying it - you will be most pleasantly surprised. Ill be back in a few days to post about last night's dinner from here. We were beyond happy!

Grilled chicken fresh mooz roasted peppers wrap . Loaded with chicken!

Always get some sort of grilled chicken wrap. Love the fresh mooz roasted peppers grilled chicken wrap and my girl always gets the chicken francaise sub or the steak and mushrooms. Delivery is always on point. I just moved into town and looking for some more go to spots such as this one. Thanks! Update during snowstorm ordered and got my first bad wrap from there. Forgot my dressing and extra mozzarella I said I would pay for. Usually solid please don't get lazy on your regulars there are many places in Lyndhurst. Waitresses always on point.

Cute lunch atmosphere

Delicious ruben sub. I thought the chicken francese sub was pretty good too, but the ruben was better. I enjoyed the bread on the sandwich a lot. I also tried their house salad with balsamic...dressing was not good. I like the atmosphere here. It's a great casual lunch joint (cafe/deli sit down). They have a lot of booze for purchase, but only for take-out. Came here again and the sandwich definitely lacked. I ordered Grilled Chicken, Roasted Red Peppers, Balsamic, and Arugula. Barely any Arugula and Roasted Red Peppers...

$4 or this???? I dont think so.

The restaurant is a former residential property and the interiors is no frills. People come here for the food. We were comped an appetizer as well as a dessert and the service is fast and first rate! Tonight I had the Meatball soup, classic Lasagna and a side of meatballs along with a house salad and several Iced Teas. I was too stuffed for dessert and I love coming here because I know there isn't a poor selection on the menu. Located on Schuyler Avenue close to the Lyndhurst border, La Venere works for parties of two or large groups for parties or special events. North Arlington is changing, but there are constants and thankfully La Venere continues to impress and flourish. Love Italian old school? Check out La Venere and you be disappointed! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

To start: there's a small parking lot in the back but otherwise appears to be street parking. Both of our cars found spots in the lot since we got there a touch before 5pm. When we got in there, there was only 1 table of two people occupied but we were asked if we had a reservation which we didn't have. Admittedly, it was a bit of a last minute decision to go out so it completely slipped my mind to look to see if I would be able to reserve something but it was before 5pm so I'm surprised we were met with such resistance. Luckily, they were able to take us with warning we would need to be out by 6:45. For reference we left at 6 since we only got entrees. The place itself is somewhat small and has a little covered patio which saw had some tables. It's no frills and the menu wasn't all that extensive. I swear there is more of a menu on their Slice app for takeout ordering. Bread was placed on the table as well as a water pitcher. To be honest, I didn't think the bread had much flavor and my husband and parents agreed. We were pretty hungry so we did finish it (even when bread isn't great, it's still good in my book) but we weren't offered any more than the first basket. All of our entrees came with salad which were typical pizzeria salads-not bad, not amazing. My mom and I both ordered the Chicken Avellino (chicken breast sautéed with chopped red onion, red peppers, sliced hot cherry peppers, shitake mushrooms in a white wine sauce with a touch of plum tomatoes) which came with roasted potatoes. I'm not the biggest fan of spicy but I thought I could just take off the sliced hot cherry peppers and be okay. Wow was I wrong because the entire dish had a kick to it. Even my mom who gravitates towards spicy food admitted it was hot. That said, the quality of the chicken was phenomenal. It was thin sliced and very good. My husband very much enjoyed his Scaloppini Marsala and my dad liked the Pollo Francese but did wish the sauce was a touch thicker. I will say I think the quality of the food served is very good but the portions are not plentiful. I'm guilty of always taking home and making another meal or two out of what I get out somewhere but all 4 of us cleared our plates. At a $30 price point I just wish there were larger portions.

TLDR: a great Italian spot located in Lyndhurst serving affordable and fresh food. Highly recommend…read morecoming here for dinners, dates, events, etc. Came here on a Sunday night around 7 and it was busy. You could tell that this is THE spot for all the OG residents and you can tell that they are loyal to this place. I can see why as I was pleasantly surprised as to the quality of the food. The restaurant is very simple. It doesn't overwhelm you with too many decorations and really helps show how long it has been around. Not saying it dingy but saying that it shows its tenure in Lyndhurst (in a good way) Caesar salad: one order is big enough for two people. Salad is crisp, croutons are perfectly sized and dressing is light. You do not feel extremely thirsty or overwhelmed from the cheese here. 5/5 Calamari: although not crispy like other places (which is the way I like it) it was still very good. The calamari was fresh and not overly battered and it was a very generous portion. If you like your calamari extremely crispy, you will not like this place. If you like your calamari with a little batter, you will love this place: 4/5 Penne vodka: not to toot my own horn but I don't think their vodka sauce is as good as mine.... BUT still one of the better sauces I've had out at a restaurant. Once again, generous portions and fresh. 4/5 Filet mignon and shrimp (ordered medium rare): the filet mignon was extremely soft and tender. It came in an amazing gravy with a side of vegetables doused with a generous portion of garlic. I devoured everything, even the gravy and wished I had more. 5/5 Tiramisu: their tiramisu is on the sweeter side and you don't taste much coffee. If that's the way you like it, you will love it. I liked it regardless because it was on the house.

First visit was a few summers back and we absolutely loved it…read more "I think we found our new favorite place to keep coming back to!" (But time can be slippery and it took a bit longer than expected for a follow-up visit.) I'm happy to report that first time was not a fluke and this place IS worthy of putting into steady rotation*. (* - if money's not an issue) I'm boring - both visits I went with the (homemade) pasta specials and they were incredible. The Mrs. is equally boring and got the branzino each time. (And loved it both times.) One kid tried the (gulp, $60) steak special and kept raving about it. (Well, he wasn't keen on the zucchini but what teen really digs that veg, right?) The other kid loves bolognese and was happy with their version. A lovely small and warm restaurant. Limited menu with a handful of specials. It's not cheap. (A wee bit over $50 a person and we didn't get appetizers or dessert and only had sparkling water.) BYOB. (Limited) street parking. The host/owner - you won't find a more inviting and personable figure who is clearly proud of what he's created. Is a part of me tempted to dock a few stars because the owner was happy to see one of my kids wearing an AC Milan jersey the day before they were set to clash with my team, AS Roma? Of course! (But that match ended in a 1-1 draw so I'll be nice... this time!)
