Ribs corn bread Cole slaw! Good!

Fantastic BBQ! Fun little atmosphere with a great menu and really really good ribs! Corn bread was just a bit on the dry side but ok. Cole slaw was excellent! Loved this little place near the university!

    Jr. Pig Out Platter (46.95)

Ordered the Jr. Pig Out Platter (46.95) which included half rack of ribs, 1 lb wings, 8 oz beef brisket and we chose mac n cheese and sweet potato fries as the 2 'trimmings', the platter also comes with coleslaw. First off, it's a ton of food. Everything is super filling so it's definitely enough for 2-3 people depending on appetite. I really liked the brisket and ribs both were packed with flavor and tender. The wings were ok, I would've liked it to be tossed with more sauce. Mac n cheese and sweet potato fries were very very good. I'm a sucker for good BBQ and this place definitely satisfied my cravings. Highly recommend!

I decided to try their bbq. I was hesitant being I am used to southern United States smoked bbq and Toronto is as far north as you can get from Texas. The meat was a bit dry. I can tell they don't leave their meat wrapped after being cooked. The brisket was cut with the grain which gives it more pull with your teeth vs. being cut against the grain and easy to pull apart. The ribs were average. Across-the-board their meat could use more flavor but it was a filling lunch. The mac and cheese was decent. It's not velveeta cheese sauce! Last but not least the staff are very friendly.

Now I have a place to go for a delicious beef brisket sandwich! The beef brisket is very tender, can be a bit fatty, but just delicious. I also tried the wings and ribs. My recommendation would be the wings and beef brisket, the ribs isn't the fall off the bone type which I prefer. The wings however is juicy, and the flavor we got (it's garlic something) was really good. Don't let the exterior of the building fools you, the restaurant is renovated and spacious enough to fit quite a number of tables.

    The Pig Out Platter ($74.95)

With finals coming up, why not relax by pigging out on some delicious food? Pig Out BBQ is a bbq smokehouse that is located in the heart of UofT, and has been opened since 2014 by owners Chris & John! They serve delicious platters that will definitely get you to pig out and feeling satisfied Honestly, a very nice place to visit for students! If you're looking to feast with friends, I recommend their Pig Out Platter which contains: Full Rack of Ribs, 2 Smoked Sausages, Pulled Pork, 1lb of Wings, Beef Brisket, Coleslaw and Pickles. Choice of 3 Large Trimmings (Corn Bread, Fries, Baked Beans, Mac n Cheese, Potato Salad, Salads, Nacho Fries, Poutine, and Pulled Pork Poutine) for $74.95 that can serve up to 4-5 people. Too much? Fear not, they also have their famous Piglet Platter that is just as delicious and filling. The piglet platter contains: 2 ribs, 4 wings and pork, choice of 1 trimming for $19.95. They offer 4 different sizes of platters depending on your needs :) I recommend checking this place out if you're in the area!!

Pig Out is a fast casual restaurant that serves affordable southern style barbecue. This might be the best deal for barbecue in the Toronto core. Orders are placed at the front cash and the cashier delivers the food to your table if eating inside. I split the Jr. Pig out Platter with a friend. It consisted of Wings, Pork Ribs, Brisket (upgraded for a few bucks), Slaw and choice of two sides we went for Baked Beans and Mac and Cheese. The food came out rather fast as we only had a few sips of beers (unfortunately only basic bottled beers i.e. Coors, Molson etc.). Ribs were good but, not great. They were meaty and tender. I'd prefer the meat to be more moist. The brisket could have been served warmer. It was still tender with a decent amount of fat. It was good brisket but, could be more moist. The wings on the other hand were really good, meaty, non-breaded and the buffalo sauce was on point with a lil kick. The sides were also the highlights both the Beans and Mac and cheese were full of flavor. The Beans has a nice boozy punch! It was a very generous portion of food. I felt I had to waddle out of the restaurant clutching my leftovers in my hands. All in all, I recommend Pig out. There is definitely better barbecue in Toronto but for $42 the Jr. Platter is definitely the best bang for your buck/the best choice. You definitely get your money's worth (it fed 2 guys and there was leftovers) and allows you to sample all the classic barbecue meats.

Tons of food. Brisket and the ribs were my favourite. Prices are average. We had the pig out platter. definitely good for 5-6 people. Mac and cheese was good. Cornbread had good flavour but it was kind of dry and there was no butter. I was surprised by the reviews of the ribs being dry b/c I found them to be quite juicy. Wings good as well. The pulled pork was good, but tbh I'm a bit over pulled pork. Fries were good and crispy. Mac and cheese not the best I've had, but good. Coleslaw was the only thing I didn't really like. It was really acidic. BF had the brisket melt. Didn't care for the onion rings, and the sandwich could have had more meat, but overall was tasty. Good service.

I got 3 sandwiches for me and my family (4 people including me). What we ordered: Mona Lisa: 8/10 For both of the sandwiches the bread was very fresh and delicious! They make them fresh for each order and you can taste the quality. The flavours in the Mona Lisa worked really well together, I loved the truffle cream and burrata. Torino: 7/10 This sandwich was also good, but the I felt like it was lacking something, especially compared to the mona lisa. The spicy eggplant just tasted like plain pickled eggplant and wasn't that spicy. I feel like both sandwiches were a bit salty due to the prosciutto, and were missing some sweet or acidic element. I added some balsamic glaze and hot honey at home which was great! The portion sizes are HUGE, the 4 of us were quite full after splitting the 3.

This small little bake shop had a menu hanging up, but I completely ignored it thanks to the baked goods right behind the counter that I was too busy staring at. I knew right away that I was going to order a Chocolate Croissant because, well, I always order a Chocolate Croissant if one is available. After making my first choice, this strange little baked good caught my eye, and it turned out to be something called a Cruffin.......a Cruffin you say? What is a cruffin? WELL, let me tell you. The cruffin is basically like a muffin, but like, with cheese and pepperoni on it so obviously I hate to order that sexy little bad boy right away. This thing wasn't big, but it was very dense and basically tasted like pizza crust which was absolutely delicious. After eating the cruffin, the Chocolate Croissant seemed way less cool but I ate it anyway. It tasted good and the chocolate was actually spread across the whole thing so they get an even bigger thumbs up for doing it right. Overall, COBS Bread was the spot! I had no idea this was a chain, but who cares, this place was great. I really liked the Cruffin I got and the croissant was really good as well. I will absolutely be revisiting COBS Bread when I come back to Canada and devouring a few more cruffins while I'm at it!

The cashier was friendly and asked if I wanted either a cinnamon bun with icing or plain. I opted for a cinnamon bun with icing and she put it in a box for me before handing it over. During my time at the store the place had a steady flow of customers, coming in to buy baked goods. My cinnamon bun was big and tasted great! I heated it up a bit when I got home. You can really feel the care and personality behind the space, which added so much to the overall visit. We tried a variety of items, but the Pizza Caesar Wrap was easily the standout and our favourite thing we ate. Crispy, cheesy, messy in the best way, and packed with flavour. Even better, $3 from every wrap goes toward supporting Daily Bread Food Bank through their $30,000 fundraising campaign, which made ordering it feel even more worthwhile. We also really enjoyed the Spicy Ham & Cheese, which had the perfect balance of spicy, creamy, salty, and savoury flavours. The Gourmet French Hot Dog was another highlight with its sweet and savoury flavour combination wrapped in a buttery, flaky croissant. The Four Seasons sandwiches were a fun concept inspired by the Blue Jays, and while the Chef's Choice wasn't our personal favourite, some people at our table enjoyed it more than we did. For dessert, all of the cookies were freshly baked in-house and surprisingly good for a grab-and-go style spot. The double chocolate chip was rich and soft, and the white chocolate cranberry and macadamia cookies were both solid classics. The iced matcha latte with oat milk paired especially well with them, and the iced vanilla latte was smooth and easy to drink. The space itself is bright and open with big windows that bring in lots of natural light during the day. Seating is cozy, but the layout still feels spacious and comfortable overall. Overall, a playful comfort food spot that offers catering with genuinely friendly service, creative menu items, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to come back.

I'm going to continue with my overtime take out review series with Sandwich Box. You would think making a sandwich is probably not the most complicated task out there, but this place seems to get it all wrong. My order consisted of an egg salad sandwich on whole grain bread with a side salad. When I received it, I only got the sandwich and the restaurant failed to tell me the salad was no longer included in the combo (yet the price remained the same). That's great that the online menu was not updated to include items no longer available, a simple update would address all these problems knowmsayin? Now on to the actual sandwich, the bread was thick. I mean so thick it looked like there was about a half an inch of eggs inside of two encyclopedias worth of bread. The eggs themselves, totally flavorless and bland. Kinda hard to mess up an egg salad sandwich right? Even Tim Horton's can get that right! To make things short and sweet, I'll be looking over this option the next time I'm working late or considering a sandwich in the downtown area.
