This place screwed my skates up and then tried to blame me!! I had some skates build by Pigeon and about a few times after skating on them I randomly noticed there were some screws missing in my skates and the house was totally lose. Long story short the screws missing were kingpin nylon screws and had come out because they were not properly tightened. I contacted pigeons about it and they TOTALLY tried to blame me for it saying " we have proof of quality before shipping our skates out". I ended up taking my skates to another shop who I won't name because I don't want then involved but they found MULTIPLE dangerous issues with my skates. They fixed them right and they have been perfect ever since. I will NEVER go back to pigeons. read more

Pigeons sucks. Between the scandals, mistreatment of employees and sexual harassment allegations, youre paying for the name. My first purchase here was a pair of impalas (that I soon stopped using because of the horrible quality and they were heavy to skate in.) That was an ok experience. Second one was a pair of moxi lollys that were too small and narrow. Third one was a pair of riedells that was also too small. Their return policy is absolutely horrendous. You have to send photos of the skates and then pay for shipping and a restocking fee. They also dropship their stuff, hence the often jacked prices. They don't update their inventory- i asked about a pair of scratch and dent skates but they were sold out - had the audacity to get me to order the same thing at regular price. Ugh. Id rather order from fritzys or literally any other skate shop than here. read more

This was a very cool shop. We stopped in while browsing the stores in the area and loved the variety of skates and accessories they had. You'll find a variety of colors in skates, socks, pads and helmets and they have adult and children's sizes available. They also had different merch available, like shirts, sweaters and hoodies. When we were in the staff was at the back table and didn't really talk to us. I first went in to buy in 2019 and then some wheels in between for myself. Customer service then was so amazing and kind back then. I recently went to finally buy my ten year old some skates last Saturday so I can teach her; however, the girl who was working wasn't so friendly. It was the other worker who rose up to the occasion to help me. I didn't know what size my daughter was but it made our skate buying experience a little sour when she asked "what size?" without really helping and sitting across the counter. I honestly wished she began with "let's size your daughter's foot to see". Sometimes buying something expensive can seem intimidating and she definitely wasn't helping and only added to the experience as a stressful one. I'll still come and support because I believe in supporting my home town skate shop but definitely saddened to feel this experience after having extra money to buy my ten year old a pair of skates so I can teach her. Single mom and funds are tight. My daughter did feel the aggressiveness as she looked at me quietly to reaffirm that she felt the aggressiveness and sour attitude from the gal working over the counter. I thank the other coworker who I didn't get her name but she saved the experience and sale with her amazing recommendation. Thank you for that coworker who actually went over the counter to size my daughter's foot!. Wish I took her name down because she deserves the recognition. Honestly, pigeons rollerskate shop is one of the best around. I was so excited to get a brand new roller skates. I got the seed pro roller skates highly recommend for the price and quality. I also got a jacket and a shirt. The selection was good however, I would totally do research, figure out what state you want, call and then go in Purchase it. Trying on skates is fun but bottom line you need to know what you want...spend some time figuring out what skate works best for you. Write it down then Go to pigeons to Try it on. I downloaded the app and it doesn't even work. It says that the status of my order is "currently unavailable". It's been About 1 week and I still haven't received my roller skates. I called the store pigeons roller skate shop to try to resolve the issue, but a representative told me she couldn't assist me because it was an online order and told me to email the company. I emailed the company and got an automated reply telling me I have to wait for them to reply to me. I emailed the app company "route" (they are in charge of delivery and they told me they can't find my package information. Even after I sent them a screenshot of my confirmation number, and gave them my name. They take forever to reply. **** Why make your customers download an app that doesn't work and wants access to your personal data??? read more

I am so excited to share that I have brought back my childhood passion of skating back into my life, it has been on my mind for a long time. I am now a proud owner of Moxi skates! My sis just recently bought her skates here and had a great experience so this past weekend, it was my turn lol Parking can be tough here as it is a popular area surrounded by vintage shops and fun eats. Mask is required upon entrance and there is a limit to how many can enter. Super cute shop inside and lots of pretty skate eye candy. My eye was on the Moxi lollys. Lots of colors to choose from, but my final decision were the lavender lollys. Beautiful in color and fit. The suede is gorgeous and soft. The skate beautifully made. Olivia, the general manager, was fabulous, she was very knowledgeable, informative, patient, and nice. She helped guide me to the right size and fit, they want to make sure you are happy with your skate. It's an investment lol Everyone at this shop is super friendly and knowledgeable. They also sell some gear, socks, and extras. Make sure to bring socks to try on with your skates, although they do have laundered socks for try on with skates. FYI- Only one skate at a time can be tried on for safety reasons. I also but the super soft suede toe stoppers $40 dark purple, beautiful contrast with the lavender and had them apply them on. This is a cool Lil kick back spot for friends and family. Unlike other skating venues I've visited, the far most is one of the safest. I love the fact that this spot has a mixture of different cultures of people. And the best part if you don't want to skate there are so many other things you could do while your family and friends are enjoying the skate world. I just had an absolutely atrocious experience here yesterday. I accidentally left my gift card on the counter when I left and the manager tore it up and threw it away. I had also just spent over 100 dollars, just to get that treatment? Honestly, this is the only in person rollerskating store in the LA area which is super disappointing because very time i'm here the workers have the ugliest, nastiest attitudes. I've talked to my skater girlfriends and they all think the same. Every girl I know who skates park actually avoids this place because the girls that work here are so, so rude. Super disappointing. My fiancée and I came in to buy her a pair of Boardwalk skates, but did not experience good customer service. I've worked in customer service for over ten years and even on my bad days I wouldn't have dismissed or treated a customer as if they were stupid. Fiancée asked what the difference was between the Moxi and Boardwalk skates, and what was a better brand. Instead of informing us in nicer tone, it came off very condescending. We told "it's an entirely different boot and bearing, so of course it'll be different." Even asked about a certain color that was displayed online to see if they had it in stock but right off the bat it was a no response. Being a footwear retailer by the beach, you would expect to have a try on sock incase a customer didn't have a sock. We were told that they require socks, and suggested I give my sock to my fiancé. Understandably, we bought a pair to try the skates on. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this skate shop. read more

Great experience here yesterday- very knowledgeable sales team. They're very focused on safety- masks required, and a box at the door if you didn't bring- and you try the skates on one at a time. The shop is super cute and I never felt rushed, when customers came in they were greeted cheerfully by the sales team. I skated in college years ago- nothing fancy but was confident and I want to start again, just looking to cruise for recreation and exercise. After a lot of research, I knew I wanted a suede skate and had tried on several models at another recommended skate place but wasn't sure about the fit. Came to Pigeon, they pulled out the next smaller size (I wear a 7.5-8 womens shoe and the other shop was putting me into a 7 which was bucking when laced and they said it was the right size.) This team explained how they will stretch, and Hook sat on the floor in front of me and showed me how tightly to pull the laces as I laced up and it slipped my foot into the right position and the boot felt supportive and stable. They gave me some tips on stopping and safety gear and were especially attentive. The whole vibe was very friendly and inclusive (I suspect I have a few decades on their usual customer) - never felt a hard sales push, they were answering questions and available but not hard sales push. I don't like to be crowded when making decisions and they gave the perfect mix of availability and space. I figured while the credit card was out I should get the toe caps to protect my new boots, and who can resist mermaid laces? Very happy with my purchase. Thanks again! read more

I was a little nervous because it was our first time buying skates, but Ezra who helped us was really patient and helpful! My daughter is a aggressive park roller-skater. We are not local, we came from over 6 hours away just to visit this shop. Of course they offer online shopping and we have gone that route many times before, but there is nothing like in person shopping for something so specialized like this place! My daughter found so many things she loved here it was hard to walk out without spending tons of money here. Everyone that works here was super knowledgeable and super helpful. We stopped by the store Sunday 3/9 in the late afternoon looking for a helmet. We asked for assistance in picking the right size to buy it. Both ladies at the store where extremely rude, they kept asking me in a rude way which one I was interested in. Since the beginning we asked for black mate and pointed to the style we wanted. All we needed was help in selecting the right size and pay. They both kept treating us in a demeaning way. One of the ladies went to the back to get the helmet and I said to the other "why is she being rude" and in a disrespectful way she said "she is not being rude". We decided to walk out and will purchase somewhere else. On our way out they were even more mean and disrespectful. She was very patient with my questions about only wanting roller rink skates within my " medium" budget. Tried on a couple and found a match. Four months into this pandemic and all anyone wants is to stay active while social distancing. I have been in search for some quad skates for quite a bit of time. But because of the pandemic, sales have been wiping them out everywhere and 3rd party sellers are selling them for 2-4x the actual cost. I was hoping to make the grand opening of the skate shop but because of the second wave of COVID-19, it pushed back the opening of the store. Instead, they decided to do a last minute counter sale at the door for the inventory they saved for the grand opening. The day of opening, my hubby, my sister, and my best friend waited in line while social distancing for 7 hours just to get us some Moxi & Impala skates. Even though I didn't get the style that was my first and second choice, I was able to get my skates and hit the streets with happiness. Thank you to the business for releasing your inventory and thinking about us little people who just want to enjoy the outdoors and only allowing one pair of skates per person. And special thanks to one of the employees who remembered my hubby the next day when I got to come to pick up a pair of skates for my sister. She remembered my hubby and noticed his injured finger which he ended up in the ER maybe an hour after getting me my skates from a knife slip in the kitchen resulting of him slicing a chunk of his finger off. lol she wished him all of her healing and positive energy toward him. I truly felt discriminated against during my visit to Pigeons! First off I want to say that Jacob (I believe that was his name) was such a great help! He really knew his stuff. Everything he said was on point. Even though he ultimately knew I wasn't going to purchase something because the skates I wanted were not in stock he still made suggestions, recommended & showed me other comparable skates & took the time to answer all the questions I had. Had I just dealt with him I would've given 4 stars (not a full 5 stars because all the skates I was interested in were out of stock.) Earlier this year I was working in Chino California & I past by Skate Express! It brought back so many wonderful memories of skating there. I grew up in foster care & group homes. In the 90s I was in a children's home in Chino & they would always take us skating there. Naturally I got the overwhelming urge to start skating again. I knew I wanted my own skates & wanted to try them on in person so I was happy & excited to find Pigeons. My husband & I went in on a weekend. There was a sign posted up on the window saying something like "wait outside for an employee to come get you" can't remember the exact wording but something like that. There was another sign that said you have to wear a mask. I had already seen a black couple inside with no masks on talking to an employee so I was thinking they're not enforcing masks. I thought they probably just left this sign up as many other businesses do even though they don't enforce masks. As I was reading the signs that same employee came & said for us to wait outside & they would come get us in a bit. That employee was face to face with the couple looking straight at them & without a doubt she could clearly see the couple had no mask on. After about 5 minutes some people left the store. That employee did not come to get us. About 10 more minutes past & she finally came out & just like this said, "Ok put your masks on.... you can come in now." She skated right back over to the couple who did not have masks on. I was shocked! I looked to my husband & said "am I missing something here... did she really just tell us to put our masks on... why is she not tell her customers that she's been helping face to face to put on a mask?!?" I almost said something but I held my tongue because I just wanted to get my skates & get up out of there so I could go skating. Thankfully Jacob was assigned to help me. Anyhow as time went on it was bothering me that I had a mask on while leaning over tying up the skates I tried on & my face was getting sweaty underneath... meanwhile the employee was still chatting away face to face with her customers that had no mask on. The manager ended up coming in & like 10-15 minutes later she walked over to the couple & asked them to put on a mask. That was like few minutes before the couple left the store. We ended up leaving at the same time the couple did & I straight up asked them.... "did the employee that was helping you the whole time you were in there ask you guys to put on a mask at any point?" They said "no, why did she tell you guys to?" I said "yea! It's weird she was talking to you face to face for all that time & didn't even suggest for you to put on a masks but told me & my husband before we even walked in the door we had to put one on." The couple agreed & said it was weird too. Neither one of us made a purchase cause the skates we wanted were out of stock. I don't know the employees name but just incase management reads this so they know who I am talking about it was the trans women. I am Chicana and my husband has white skin & blue eyes but he is Michoacán to the bone. Had we been black that employee would not have told us to mask up. I felt bad for the black couple too because they shouldn't be treated differently then everyone else because of their skin color either! That may be something you want to talk to your employees about. That employee can come up with all the excuses they want. I was there & my husband & I experienced that kind of treatment. Moral of the story don't treat people differently or single them out soley because of their skin color!!! I had to get my skates somewhere else. I'm glad I did because I don't want to support a business that has employees that act this way. I need some accessories but I will not be going to pigeons because I don't want to deal with that kind of discrimination again. read more

Ordered a pair of moonboots online a while back. Live 30 min away but that was the only option at the time. Received them with one toe stop impossible to get off. (Threads were fused) Even took it to another shop for professional opinion/ advice. They said it would have to be sawed off. Reached out to Pigeons for a return/exchange and was told I'd have to come and wait in a 3 hour long line and then virtual line to just drop my skates off and hear from them in a few days. Pretty frustrating when you spent $300 + on a pair of skates you can't even use and then told you have to wait hours to have something done for them when they should have had more thorough quality check on the skates before sending them out. read more

Don't let the bad reviews scare you. They no longer have a store capacity as far as I could tell, you just need to wait to be helped inside if they're busy. I don't doubt other customers have had bad experiences but I suggest at least giving this place a try. I was helped right away when I asked. The girl who had helped me buy a helmet and protective gear was super nice and helpful without being overly pushy or aggressive. I have NEVER done any type of skating before, so I had no idea how sizing worked on the pads and helmet. The girl was very concise in explaining how the sizing worked and what I needed to know, and didn't overcomplicate it. I DEFINITELY recommend coming in and talking to them about sizing, fit, type of equipment, etc. if you've never skated before. I literally know NOTHING about roller skating except a few Google searches, but someone mentioned they were overpriced but their prices seem pretty on par with similar products I saw online from other places before I came in. I will say though, there were 2 girls at the counter when I came in, and one of them went to the back when the other started helping me. Two other customers came in a little bit after me and the second girl didn't come out of the back (she knew they were there), and the girl who was helping me said she'd help them after me. Not sure if there's a reason why the other girl couldn't help them but I can see why customers might get impatient. I went on a Thursday afternoon so there might definitely be a wait over the weekend, especially because you NEED to speak to an employee if you plan on buying any of the essentials (skates, helmet, protective gear). read more

We were clear that we wanted to buy two pairs of skates and how enthusiastic we were to be there. 10 minutes later, we were so fed up with the poor treatment, we just had to leave. I paid over $250 for Moxi skates that arrived very different from how Pigeon's advertised. The price of the Moxi Panther skates were already marked up higher than advertised on a Pigeon's blog post and other competing vendors, but these were my dream skates, so I tried to get them ASAP. (The blog post also features Moxi toe caps that no longer come with the skate that I had to personally inquire about in order to get a straight answer.) When the skates finally arrived, they came in poor condition as shown. When I contacted the shop, they were very dismissive, stated this is simply how suede looks (I own several pairs of suede skates and this was the first pair to look of this quality), kept insisting they were in perfect condition, shifted the narrative to state it was Moxi (the distributor, suggesting any fault be in their part), and then later kept making points to undermine my concerns/ignoring my inquiries as to why their advertised photos looked different than the sold product. Rather than apologizing or acknowledging any frustrations, they kept insisting they weren't "trying" to deceive me (emphasis on trying), and only after I posted on social media did they offer to refund the $25 in shipping it took to return the skates. Many Moxi skater friends who own these skates, as well as a local skate shop, affirmed my concerns that these were not in perfect condition. Even when supplying Pigeon's with this info, they refuse to acknowledge it and just keep shifting and avoiding any sort of accountability. Yet ironically they did acknowledge that after this interaction, they have changed the Moxi Panther product description to include something about how product may look different (basically to save themselves from future quality issues like this). In fact, the person went in a back-and-forth (continuing now) in attempts to minimize the issue, e.g. literally creating a diagram of skate photos I sent her of Moxi unboxings that show the skates they received look completely different from mine and them trying to refute it in all ways possible instead of just accepting accountability. I own several pairs of skates and have had a great experience with every local skate shop I have worked. This is the very first poor experience I've had with a roller skate shop... Pigeon absolves themselves of blame and refuses to be helpful; when conceding, they still do not admit the situation being less than ideal and instead go off on their customers. They are taking advantage of the situation and I suggest taking business to local skate shops that aren't exploiting customers that are more transparent and accommodating, especially when their advertising is misleading. read more

This woman made me measure my foot and was like "okay our skates run a little large so I'm going to give you a size down" and I was like "sure whatever" Then she tells me I can't try them on and there are no returns (covid, I get that) and so I asked her if she was sure about the size difference and she told me yes. This woman gave me a size EIGHT that does NOT fit and now I can't even freaking exchange them so I'm writing a Yelp review so you all know not to listen to the sales reps and get the size you know will fit because they just want to sell what they have and make their money. We weren't greeted once we entered the store, yet the cashier met eyes with us (keeping in mind that there were no other customers in the store).
