My son has been going to Tangles and Knots since he was one. Every time has been a great experience. Mrs Lavonda knows how to make a child feel comfortable when getting there hair cut. They get to watch tv while they get the hair done. Then they get a sweet treat afterwards only after the parent says it's ok. If you have a smaller child they also have a cute fire truck that they can sit in and ring the bell too. I drive about 30 minutes to get to Garland and it's well worth it. 10/10 would recommend!

Trish was very patient and flexible with letting us get comfortable, and you can tell it's not her first rodeo working with kids. I ended up having to hold my son on my lap while she worked, and he ended up leaning his head on my chest during the entire appointment. The cut isn't completely even, but I understand his head was tilted and I was in the way due to holding him, so I'm not too bothered by it. I had to reduce a star because she was behind schedule and there was hair everywhere from previous customers. All slots are 15 min long, and she was behind schedule due to earlier cuts taking longer from rowdy kids and the fact that many of the appts were first time cut packages where she has to make a balloon, take a pic, print the certificate, etc etc. Trish definitely did her best, in my opinion, but there was a backlog of appointments due to this. They should really allot more time for first cut packages. She definitely looked rushed in cleaning the car chairs between customers. The print quality of the pic was also grainy on portions of the pic, unfortunately. They might just need to refill their ink.

My technician, Tia, started my appointment right on time. She was quiet but checked in with me to make sure she understood what I wanted. While the service itself wasn't bad, there wasn't anything that stood out. At other salons I've visited, the experience typically ends with small finishing touches--like applying lotion or a brief hand massage--but this service felt very basic. I still tipped Tia 20% because Honey worked me into the schedule during what would have been Tia's break, and I appreciated that accommodation. Unfortunately, once I got home and removed my contacts so I could see my nails more clearly, I noticed several details that became more apparent over the next few days. It appeared the polish wasn't properly sealed, and one nail had missing polish along the side before I ever left the salon. Since my nails were completely dry when I departed, I believe those issues should have been caught before the service was finished. For me, the overall experience wasn't worth the drive or the price I paid. The video of my nails tells the story better than this caption ever could. That said, based on my interaction with Honey, I genuinely believe booking with her could result in a different experience. She made a great first impression, and if I were to return, I would specifically request an appointment with her.

I had a very concerning experience at Pigtails & Crewcuts and feel obligated to share it for other parents. During my son's haircut, the stylist scratched him badly enough that it left a visible mark from his behind his ear to his forehead. He was visibly upset, and instead of acknowledging what happened or checking on him, the stylist denied causing it. At that point we left. What's even more frustrating is the lack of follow-up. We emailed the location on Saturday asking to speak with a manager, and as of Monday afternoon, we have not received any response. Accidents can happen, but how they're handled matters. In this case, there was no accountability in the moment and no communication afterward. That's not acceptable, especially for a business that works with children. I would strongly encourage other parents to consider this before booking here. read more
