I'm surprised at the low star reviews for Pigtail's and Crewcuts because I've never had a bad experience over the several times I've come for my kids' haircuts. Each time the hairstylist has been very friendly and attentive to each kid. We're still working out how we want our son's hair cut but that comes with the territory. I've never gone at a busy time but they've always gotten us swiftly taken care of. I recommend making an appointment online because calling isn't the most reliable. Thankfully they have plenty of lollipops for the kids because my kids go through at least two every visit. If you're hesitant because of the other reviews, make an appointment online and make up your own mind. I've not yet been disappointed. read more

Did good with my toddler for her first haircut but I will say my daughter is not fussy and does not like strangers so she stood still for most of the haircut and didn't put up a fuss about anything so wasn't much soothing or reassuring needed. Haircut was simple but the ends were cut crooked and bangs were not a straight line at the top where the part is created for it. Wasn't a terrible experience but also wasn't great. Wouldn't tell my friends to take their kids here but my daughter enjoyed the cop car chair so probably the only actual upside to the place. I guess I'm more neutral - I'm also not super picky about haircuts since my daughter's hair grows fairly quickly. read more

We walked in and were never greeted by the girl at the desk, she was just staring into space. I asked if they needed our name and all she said was "Do you have an appointment." We said no and she said "No appointment?" I was going to ask if we needed an appointment but one of the other women came to the desk and I thought maybe she would be looking to see where we could be fit in but instead she said "We don't have anything until 2.40pm..." and walked away - her tone was dismissive and rude. When we arrived, I was checked in fairly fast. However we waited around a few minutes while the ladies played on their phones. But it's a nice atmosphere so my kids enjoyed playing for a minute while we waited. It was my sons first haircut. I asked for the back of his hair to stay the same length, as I loved his curls. I asked for a mullet. I know, I know. But his curls were beautiful. They didn't listen and cut his back curls off. I'm pretty upset even as days pass. FIRST HAIRCUT FAIL. The lady completely didn't listen to us and gave my son a much shorter cut than I wanted. We asked for a trim and and we got a fade for my son's first haircut. She also left a lot of uneven parts. Thankfully my husband told her exactly where she had to go back and correct it, but she ended up needing to take off more hair. Not going back there ever again. Today my son was scheduled for his first visit at this location. When my Mother arrived to the appointment she was told she was not on the list. My Mother called and made an appointment the day before. There was only one person working named Esmeralda. She was sitting down watching her phone. She had no customers. My Mom told her about the appointment and she said she had someone else scheduled during that time. My son is 8 and a haircut doesn't take long to cut. My Mom explained we had an appointment and if no one was there could she cut my sons hair. Esmeralda continued to play on her phone. My Mom asked her again if she could just cut his hair and she had driven 20 minutes to get there. At this point Esmeralda says " you can talk to my manager, and hand hands my Mom the phone. My Son felt extremely uncomfortable and sad. As my family left the employee told us we could call the Manager who is never around. As my Mother was leaving she called my Mom a bi**h. My Son heard. I called and spoke to Esmeralda and she told me she doesn't answer to a distinct manager or anyone so I can complain and do what I need to do. Needless to say the manager is absent in her business and the employee runs that store. Do not go there! They are all about money and disrespect. Just because this business is reviewed highly it's owed by location. Be careful when an employee can tell you that a manager is hardly around and she doesn't answer to anyone. For everything this place should stand for they really left my Son upset. Advertising that you are a family salon for children is BS. I will tell everyone I know because word of mouth is better than any platform as my family owns many companies. read more

Honestly, I'm not sure how or where the folks working here got a cosmetology license. Have been here twice (gave them a second try just in case it was my squirmy kid the first time) and got the same result both times. Chop job haircuts, nothing blended, and now have to go somewhere else to fix what they messed up. Additionally, today the woman cutting my sons hair dropped her scissors on the ground, picked them up, and continued cutting his hair. A complete violation of health and sanitation requirements. Disappointed! Don't expect to be greater first of all and given any explanation of what you will actually get! I asked for princess package which included braid, glitter, crown and nail polish. Didn't get the braid that I showed her with curls! The buns were also uneven.. I tried small talk but she want having it. Serious face and she didn't seem happy to be there. For my sons haircut: she was nice and more pleasant the my daughters stylist. There was a spot that was over cut and when I mentioned it to her she had moved to the next appointment. I preface by saying my sons have been coming to this location for over a year and our original stylist left this location. Trusting two new ladies was not easy, but Ms. Nancy did an outstanding job and really listened to what I was hoping to accomplish. The other stylist did not listen to what I asked for and left my son's hair entirely too short to correct. The inside was nice and clean, I was pretty upset that the lady that cut my sons hair, Gave him a pretty decent size plug on the side of his head and pretended that she didn't notice, the other side (front) she cut it way too short and did not match the other side what so ever. He sat calm for the entire cut, while watching Mickey Mouse, so she was at fault and never bothered to apologize, offer a discount or a free cut. Found this place online and decided to give it a try in spite of some of the negative reviews. To start, they ask you to sign in through their online system which is a pretty simple set up but the "waiting in line" aspect can be a bit confusing given that your place can change in a matter of minutes even before you leave your house leaving you wondering if you lose your spot due to drive and transit time and there is not much explanation on how the online line works if there are those that arrive before you. So all in all I would say this part wasn't very impressive. For the physical location and haircut. The set up is really practical with a separate room filled with toys for siblings to occupy themselves while you wait on the haircut. There's also some great merchandise to browse through while you wait and the place is incredibly clean and well thought out. Elizabeth was my son's stylist and she did a fantastic job delivering what I asked for as well as delivering quick and friendly service so we will definitely return and request her. I would recommend this salon as a great kids hair studio that will give you what you're looking for. read more

I'm editing my review after reading some negative reviews to help educate people about the hair cutting process particularly with kids. Kids rarely cooperate when they are getting their hair cut so yeah sometimes the wait is going to be longer than you want. So if you schedule an appointment and its longer than the computer programmed scheduler is telling you just remember Real People are cutting your child's hair not a robot! I really like Pigtails and Crewcuts! We have been here at least 3-4 times over the past year for my younger boys ages 6 and 3 and have yet to receive a bad haircut or poor quality service! Please keep in mind some of these reviews posted previously are years old and I don't think that any rude, impatient stylists work here anymore. **Make sure you know in advance, well before you walk in, exactly which haircut you want for your child. It helps to also be specific and engaged during the haircut process to ensure you're getting the cut you want for your child and tell them before they start if you don't want them to use clippers or ask them to stop if they're about to cut off too much hair - I promise they'll work with you, the last thing they want is a dissatisfied client! *Lastly, their first haircut package is super cute and they make it special for the kids and the parents. I highly recommend this place! Download the app in advance and make an appointment up to 3 days out; they rarely take walk ins. read more

First off, I rarely take the time to write reviews but after our experience at this location yesterday afternoon I'm making it a point to do so. Please DO NOT take your children here for an ear piercing. I must say I was a bit apprehensive about the process but my wife assured me that they do it regularly and it would be better than doing it at the doctor's office. The experience seemed to begin fairly normally, the two techs and my wife dotted the locations on my daughter's ears and prepped the piercing guns -- that's when things went south. As they pressed the triggers to pierce her ears, the cartridge did not eject properly and was hanging off of my daughter's left earlobe. Through my daughter's blood-curdling screams, the techs, my wife and I tried to get this cartridge unattached from my daughter's lobe, to no avail. Then the techs decided it would be a good idea to try to use push pins and paper clips to dislodge the cartridge which did not work. At this point we decided to get to the ER as the two techs were completely unqualified to handle the situation. As we left the two techs did not apologize and a 3rd employee finally eeked out a meek apology. Luckily, in the car on the way to the ER my wife was finally able to detach the cartridge without damaging my daughter's earlobe. If there was a way to give negative stars I would. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT take your children to this place for ear piercing -- a truly horrendous experience. read more

I took my 1yo here for a trim. I said multiple times that I just wanted a trim so it was out of his eyes. The lady was rude from the get go but I tried to shrug that off and just assumed she was having a hard or busy day. Anyways, on the very first cut, she grabbed a huge chunk from the side of his head and cut it. Short. And when I say short, there was a moment I thought he was completely bald in that spot. I then said, " woah, that's way shorter than I expected." And she said, "me too." Really?! She was the person holding the scissors and making the cut. She then tried to blame it on him moving. Well, yeah, he may have moved. He is ONE and this is a KIDS hair salon. Surely, he isn't the only child that moves. But he wasn't shaking his head around or moving to the point that she ever should have cut that much. At this point, it was too late. There was nothing to do except try and even it up. So I watched as this lady cut my babies beautiful curls off. Which is exactly what I told her I didn't want at the beginning of the cut. She remained rude and short with him and me the entire time. I honestly should have refused to pay and I definitely shouldn't have tipped but I was so sick to my stomach by the end of it, I just wanted to get out of there. The place was also not very clean and could use a good scrub down. I will not be going back and I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. If you don't like kids and don't want to cut their hair, then don't work at a kids hair salon. read more

If I could give them negative stars I would!!!! Worst experience, especially when your targeted clientele is young children. We signed in online (as we we're directed when we called) told we had an hour wait. Got a text message at 28 minutes and 14 minutes, arrived exactly on time. When we walked in with our toddler we were told they were NOT ready and we had 5 people in front of us with at least another 30 minutes!!!!!! They had no remorse and shrugged their shoulders saying oh well ma'am that's 'just' an estimate! Worst customer service. We will NEVER return! Reply to Melissa: I was promted by your system to head to the salon, which is why you can imagine showing up at our time and being told it would be at least another 30 minutes would be frustrating. To add to the matter the customer service was very subpar taking it from frustrating to enraging. I can understand a client having a difficult time with a cut as it is a child salon, although you can adjust your time per client window to have allowances for time overage. However, I disagree with not being able to factor in a stylist much needed break. That can be factored in and times for clients can be adjusted, even if that means you add a "dummy client" to push times back to allow for a break. Sorry, not sorry WORST experience and we will NOT return! I can also honestly add that I have shared this with many friends in the area this seems to be a common problem at your salon. I was able to take my son to great clips (which is not always great), walk in right away and had an EXCELLENT experience and really a better haircut then at Pigtails and Crewcuts. We brought our daughter in for her first hair cut and had a wonderful experience! We signed in online and we're given a 100 minute wait. So we went out to grab a bite to eat and run some errands during the wait. We were even able to push back our time, twice, when our lunch ran long :) We got there earlier than we expected. When we showed up we still had 20 minutes left in our wait time, but they were able to get us right into a chair! They had Moana playing on multiple screens, which was an awesome distraction for our daughter during her cut. Her stylist was very friendly and did a great job! Even put in a little braid and some glitter (every parents favorite thing hahaha)! They also offer military discount and had decent prices for their products. Unfortunately I have to leave an update. On a recent visit after signing my kids in was told that it was busy...ok I don't mind waiting. As the kids are playing I notice people coming in are being seen first. After about 45 minutes I went up to the front desk to find out what was up. Was told "Sorry ma'am but people who check in online are seen first." Now logic would tell you to toggle sign ins with online check ins, but that is not what happens hete. As we are having this convo I see a guy checking his kid in on his phone, so then I am told "oh sorry we are full for the day, but you can come back tomorrow." Then I get to listen to my kids cry in the car for 20 minutes in 5 o'clock traffic after waiting over an hour and still no haircut. Best check in online or you're screwed. I took my 18 month old for his first haircut, I wanted to do the whole picture and lock of hair thing so that I could put it in his baby book. He wasn't very excited about having someone in his personal space, but he did well. Unfortunately, he got the worst haircut ever, he looks like Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber, the girl just cut STRAIGHT in the front, it looks terrible. I really feel that I could have done a better job!!! Then to make matters worse, she used the clippers and CUT his neck!!! I took pictures, and I will upload later. When I realized that he was hurting, i asked the girl if she had any ointment or something to make it stop itching and hurting and she said she didn't know, she asked her manager and in front of me said that he had scratched his own neck. I'm sorry, but my child is not Edward Scissorhands, so cutting his neckline like that is impossible.
