[[HIGHLIGHT]]I've been getting mani and pedis the last few months with Shay, a really sweet and talented student.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've had gel pedis, dip manis and a Green "Cat-Eye" Gel and Dip Powder Mani in December and Gold "Cat Eye" Gel Mani on Wednesday. Shay has even done freehand flower designs on my big toes in Aug. & Sept. 2025. I saw her own nails and how creatively designed they were so we chatted about her journey. She already had done mani and pedis on her friends and family so she was already skilled as far as nail art. She just had to get the education, learn more techniques and instruction so she could get licensed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Shay is always friendly, engaging, patient and listens to the client's desires. She is willing to work with you and make helpful suggestions based on your choices and lifestyle.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She's even informed me of what a licensed manicurist can and cannot do. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Miss Whitney, her instructor has been a helpful guide whenever Shay's had a question. Miss Whitney always says "Come back again!"[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For all services, Shay will go thru a checklist and pricing to verify you are aware of what you are having done up front. You have to sign the Consent Form w/disclosures and your signatures. For the Basic pedis, I've had the gel polish which is finished with a Green Tea scrub, peach lotion and cuticle oil. For the dip Manis, I've had the standard until I had the Cat Eye technique in Dec 2025. Shay had a small green colored oval area on her nails and I asked her about it so she worked with me on the base Green color and top Green color to create the effect. The polish has magnetic pieces that creates a 3-D effect when you use a magnet after applying the polish, then finishing with UV light. I never knew about this and thought it was pretty cool esp. when I'd turn my finger. I had the #40 Gold Cat Eye Gel polish last Wednesday without the dip so I can give my nail beds a break from the dip powders. Shay helped in the consultation and the price point turned out even less to get the effect I wanted to achieve. I only have one other appointment before she graduates but already follow her on IG. On a very strict budget lately and my very good friend (who is particular more than myself) has recommended me to come here. I was originally with a different phase two student but I was lucky she didn't make it that I was taken cared of by a Fil am ex military who had done amazing work! I had roots done, deep conditioning and scalp treatment, and the mermaid curls were a bonus! All staff were very nice, professional and accommodating. Michael was very skillful and with great vibes. I could feel my face tightening immediately through the current and I appreciate how she lowered the current around my eyes and sensitive areas. As someone who loves to save money, I came here for an affordable haircut. It's only $15 for a cut and wash by a phase two specialist. If you don't care as much, you can pay $10 for a phase one specialist. BUT neither of those include tip! Pros - Calling to make the appointment was SUPER easy. I actually called the day of and managed to get an appointment that same day! - When getting your hair washed, she gently massages your head which feels sooo good - They style your hair after your cut (which actually takes most of the appointment time), so this is great if you're going out right after - My stylist is graduating next month, so she seemed super confident in what she was doing. She managed some small talk during the appointment and did exactly what I wanted for my hair - The inside set up is neat and organized Cons - Each appointment takes forever. Expect to spend at least 1.5-2 hours for a cut and wash - They weren't on time with my appointment. Well I had an appointment for the Valentine's Day special. Had someone picked out whose work I liked and I rearranged my schedule for the appointment. The confirmed with me several times. Texts, emails and calls. They call me when I'm already on my way to say the person I booked is unavailable. They wouldn't give me a reason. Couldn't talk to a teacher or manager. I'd understand if the person was sick. But why call me minutes before my appointment to tell me? I would've appreciated an earlier notification. Why confirm several times with me but lack accountability on their end? Why is it that there is no penalty if they cancel on us but we get reprimanded if we're the ones who cancel? Hold your people to a higher standard before they get out into the professional world. I understand it's a school but are we not adults here? I get screwed over and they just go on about their day. If you double book on accident tell me. We're human, we make mistakes but don't just give me "they're unavailable". Let's strive to be better. read more

I had been to Paul Mitchells a couple of times in the past and was not real happy but the real problem was they gave me the same older woman 3 times and I didn't like the hair cut and she would just cut the hair like she wanted not the way I wanted , Maybe because I'm older they thought i needed someone older and that wasn't the case. so I left and went to the hair salon at Walmart and the girl there was great loved my hair with her hair cuts unfortunately it closed down and there's not many places to go in spring branch so i called Paul Mitchell again, . In my many attempts the calls go to a que where it says " all busy leave a message " you go the message and it says mail box is full .I did that 4 times . I called again and finally after 9mins 37 sec according to my phone i finally got a real person and made an appointment , but before i could confirm she put me back on hold again, so i waited 3 mins on hold and called back so i could confirm , I finally after going thru the que again i finally got a woman named Kaylee . she wanted to put me on hold again and i explained i cant do that this time i just want to confirm before you throw me back into the hold situation . so i told her the time and she said she will be right back again i said please dont go away just confirm . she said she's a manager and just wanted to look it up . i said it cant be that difficult just confirm. she said she had to put me on hold again, i said please if you cant find the minute to even confirm maybe I should just go somewhere else where they are not so busy, she said that's fine go someplace else . I thought it was rather rude and unprofessional but i said ok and thanked her and hung up the phone . I did call another salon and made an appointment so i thought I should at least call Paul Mitchell back and make sure my appointment was cancelled so they didn't put me down as an appointment i never cancelled so again back in the queue again and after 2 times i got thru and "Kaylee " answered and I explained i just called and spoke to her about my appointment but I did want to cancel my appointment as I would go else where as she suggested and i needed to cancel my appointment in my name , she said "fine and have a great day . " I wished her the same and hung up. .. My point here is you cant spend 15 or more mins .trying to get thru and even then they couldn't find time to pick up , couldn't leave a message as the mail box is full and 3 attempts to make an appointment all failed then only couldn't stay on phone to even cancel. very disappointed and unprofessional. and then the cavalier attitude by one of its "managers " is unacceptable in my humble opinion. I'm 76 years old I have gone to many a salon in my years I think I know what to expect from a business and this time and place was rather rude and i just moved on. Wish things worked out its so difficult to get your hair styled in Spring Branch as there are very few salons here. Paul Mitchell School is a great place to get a discounted hair cut or color, and if you happen to be there on Crazy Dance Friday, watch the students get down to a little country line dancing while waiting for your color to set. I wouldn't advise you to go there specifically to watch the stylists line dance, but if you have some hair related needs, this is your place. I got a highlight touch up for $25 and a shine gloss for another $20. My stylist was a Phase 2 student who did a good job and was very friendly. I was pretty impressed, and even though my coloring process took a few hours, I felt like the stylist stayed on top of things. FYI: when you call in to set your appointment, they will ask if you would like a Phase 1 or Phase 2 student. Phase 2 students are a little more expensive. I usually don't have a preference, since both students are closely watched by their teachers. The first time I went there to get my hair highlighted, I was quoted a price of $50. However, after additional costs because of my longer hair and the amount of color it took, I ended up paying $90. This is pretty close to the cost I have paid at normal salons, so don't go to Paul Mitchell exclusively because of the discounted price. Overall, this place is a nice establishment to visit for somewhat discounted hair services. They aren't dirt cheap, but usually provide good service and, if you're lucky, you can be entertained with line dancing stylists. read more

My daughter went here to get some coloring done and was very happy. She told me they have a barber shop next door so I made an appointment to get a quick haircut. I met a young man named Caleb there and he did a great job. He is a great conversationalist and really paid attention to what I wanted as far as my cut goes, and offered information about other services they provide. He did not rush through the cut but wanted to make sure it was done right. Not that he needed it, but I could tell he was well supervised through the process, a couple of instructors had passed by us with approving nods. I was impressed by the entire experience and even made an appointment for a return visit. The cut was only 5 dollars so I was more generous with the tip I left behind, as I normally pay 20-30 dollars for haircuts at other places. Overall I do recommend giving them a chance to do your next haircut or style, some of these young men and women are incredibly talented and you can get professional services done at well below the normal retail prices. read more

After moving to San Antonio, I was looking for a place to get my hair cut. I am always hesitant to try new places, but I had a friend let me know about this location and suggested it to me. I have only ever had my hair styled at a Paul Mitchell School (different location) years ago, for a friend's wedding. I saw an ad from Denise Guerra about free hair cuts. I was looking for a fairly simple hair cut, so I jumped at the chance for a free cut. I thought that what I needed wouldn't be so bad and I would be ok if it was a little off (just needed a trim really). I sent her a picture of what I wanted and was told that they could do the cut. So I made an appointment for the following week. It was fairly easy to make an appointment with my stylist so was happy about that. You are able to go to the location to make an appointment or give them a call (they schedule up to 6 months out). From other's experience, it seems easier to just make an appointment at the location. I was able to find this location fairly easy (it's a huge building with the school's name on the building) and was happy to find plenty of parking. I went in, signed in and went to have a seat while I waited for my stylist. The place is very open and has different stations with different stylists. They also have a bunch of product around the front counter where you can make your purchase. I waited a little while and was greeted by Denise (very soft spoken and sweet lady!). She led me around the building letting me k ow where their restrooms are along with their vending machines. We sat at her station and discussed what I wanted. She took me to the wash stations in the back and she was gentle and thorough with my wash (had some calming music going in the background and didnt feel like o was drowning in water). After the wash we went back to her station and she started on my cut (she, like the other stylists, do have their work looked at and have instructors constantly critiquing the steps they take in their process). The instructors were super friendly and approachable. The whole wash and cut took a little under an hour (which isn't bad considering that they have their work constantly looked at). Denise never made me feel pressured to purchase anything and always went through the process of what she was doing, along with making sure that what she was doing was what I wanted done. I did request a shampoo while there and she was led the way to where it was along with letting me know what she used on my hair just in case I wanted any of those products (again she wasn't pushy if I didn't want something). I the checked out and was able to break a bigger bill so that I could tip Denise. Denise was also super sweet and held the door open for me on my way out. I would highly recommend Denise and this location if you'd like to get services done for a cheaper price and are willing to sit a bit longer. read more

Bring your pets to be washed with Paul Mitchel pet line products. They have facials I just found out they did spray tans. There was a mistake made mo ones fault. But the skin director. Damn. It feels good to be a gangsta! Or maybe it just feels good to donate over 16 inches of hair to Locks of Love, then get a short bob... And go from black hair to blonde... for $83. BOOM. I was skeptical to go anywhere in a new city to have this level work done. I've had color and cuts screwed up at reputable salons with trendy names and expensive products on hand to sell so I knew this dramatic do needed lots of TLC. What I loved was the constant check-ins by an instructor. Every section was checked and re-checked to ensure it was done correctly. What salon have you been to lately where you can be sure that the work us double checked for fly always? Additionally, I've walked out of every salon (even with virgin hair before the bleach) that I've attempted blonde hair at only to have the nastiest orange hair. Until now.
