I was initially told the charges were declined and wouldn't go through. Then I was told to approve the legitimate charge, which apparently unlocked the other pending charges as well. Their explanation changed multiple times, but they kept assuring me I wouldn't be charged for the mistakes. I called the next business day, explained everything, and was promised a manager/owner would call me back. Nobody ever did. I called again after contacting my bank and got the same promise with no callback. After months of dealing with a bank dispute, I still didn't get the resolution I expected. I've also spoken with other people who described similar experiences, which makes this even more concerning and makes it seem like this may happen often. Check your card transactions VERY carefully if you come here. I have screenshots showing the multiple charges. Terrible customer service and extremely questionable billing practices. I was a little hesitant about trying this place since it doesn't seem to get a ton of traction in the area, but my husband and I decided to give it a shot for takeout and were pleasantly surprised. The staff I interacted with were super friendly, which made for a great first impression. For food, we both ordered pupusas and absolutely loved them -- easily the highlight of the meal and something I'd definitely go back for. It came with pickled vegetables and a red sauce. I ordered the shrimp fajitas, which came with a good amount of food and were solid overall. The shrimp were a bit overcooked and inconsistent (some shelled, some not), but the dish was still enjoyable. My husband ordered the lomo saltado and really liked it; the flavors were there, though the beef was a little chewy. Overall, the food was average to slightly above average, with the pupusas being the standout. I'd return for those and would be open to trying more of the menu in the future. read more

Good salteñas. Annoying automatic gratuity. I found myself in the Silver Spring/Bethesda area, away from the safe familiarity of northern Virginia. Craving salteñas bolivianas, I did a local search and this place turned up as the nearest (and with 4 stars!). I didn't read the reviews, so I might not have continued on to this place if I had seen that previous 1-star review. I first had salteñas in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, and have since periodically sought them out back in the US. The salty, savory, sweet, and juicy components make them superior to standard empanadas. From the street, this restaurant (cum bar cum nightclub) looked like an old-time local establishment that had battled the city council to retain its original old stone building in defiance of the commercialized revitalization behind the nicer, shinier buildings surrounding it. Upon entering, I was immediately shocked by the lack of patrons. I came in at 12:30pm on a Thursday and I expected there to be a normal lunch crowd, given the density of the surrounding area. Nope, nada, nein, nyet, ない, 아니요. Just two employees sitting at one of the tables. The place looks like it succeeds more as a bar and lounge rather than a restaurant, but I can't be certain since I'm not going to be back on a Friday or Saturday night. They had a very large menu, but I just wanted salteñas, so I ordered 2 beef and 2 chicken. Pork was listed, but they were out. Both of these were very good. Good classic flavor, good sauciness, no under-cooked pastry. The chicken ones came with a nice, spicy salsa verde. Maybe they've improved since that previous reviewer's experience; maybe I got lucky with good salteñas. Maybe they're always this good. My one major complaint: the server added an automatic 18% gratuity to the bill. Is this a Bethesda thing? Or is it a nightclub thing? Or maybe it's just the next stage of parasitic tipping culture. [I just read that in Bethesda, this can be done if it's disclosed. It might have been stated on the menu or other signage, but I didn't notice it.] read more

We spent around $70 for inedible food. In the attached pictures, you will see an undercooked, raw salteña, steak fajitas with a sticker on it, and very bad lamb. I was looking forward to eating here as it is a new restaurant. Unfortunately, we had to throw everything out after only a few bites, in fear of getting sick. I have not had a meal this bad in a long time. I am disappointed. While the staff is friendly, the food needs major improvement. It is rare for me to give such a low rating, but I am so upset about the food. read more

Family-owned gem that deserves your money, and you deserve to treat yourself with their food. Got the 1/2 pollo a la brasa and it was perfect. I can't wait to go again and try more of their dishes! Lunched here with a friend. Only one other table occupied. Server speaks limited English. We both chose the quarter chicken with 2 sides. I chose a salad & fries. Both were passable but not great. My chicken was a bit dry. I'm pulling for this restaurant to succeed, but food preparation needs improvement. I think this is a Peruvian restaurant but it could be Mexican. Saltenas were yummy. The pupusas were equally good. Friendly staff. Watched Bolivian Mardi Gras parade on tv - extra bonus.

Walked in because they're participating in Savor Bethesda. They let me order an appetizer, drink, and an entree for even less than the regular price of an entree for this special. The appetizer could have been an entire meal. There was so much food. It was also delicious. The place was empty. My only complaint is that they still had Valentine's decorations weeks after Valentine's Day, but I highly recommend this spot read more
