Identifying the pro's and con's of the various manufacturers and models (some of which the store did not even carry!). Extremely open and he never wavered from his bottom line objective of customer satisfaction. His expertise and love of the activity was ever present. He even took a phone/video call when we found a used one for sale. It needed some work. After we purchased, he did an AMAZING job on the repair done with skill and unmatched attention to detail. It was extremely easy to reserve our 2 kayaks and when we arrived to pick them up the 2 employees helping us were so personable and courteous. I am new to colorado and the only time I've paddle boarded was where you rented the boards and walked about 50 feet down to the water. I didnt know that this was basically just a sports store. Didn't think a 4 hour rental would include you having to drive an hour+ both ways to use it. Not to mention a paddleboard isn't like a snowboard or ski's that can fit in just about any vehicle. I emailed the company about a refund and they completely ignored my email. It's been 5 days and I haven't heard a word. I just find this to be a misleading business. read more

We came in a couple weeks ago (5-17-19) and Jared assisted us. We asked about renting kayaks and possibly buying a couple. He was very friendly and answered all our questions. Due to weather it was the next Friday (5-24-19) before we were able to rent kayaks. Angel assisted us this time. He was very helpful assisted us with getting kayaks on our Jeep. Told us several options of places to go try kayaks out. We went to Pikes Peak to try them. Ran into Jared at the lake. After a couple hours we decided to purchase them. Happy we tried them out first. The one I was going to get was not the best fit for me. We got the kayaks loaded back up and headed back to return them. Angel was busy with another customer. Rachel assisted us. She's very professional and answered all our questions. Our rental $ applied toward kayaks. Rachel is very knowledgeable about everything in the store. We put a down payment on the kayaks and came back the next day to get them. When we came in to pick them up Rachel went through store making suggestions on things we may or may not want. We were allowed to even bring our dogs in to make sure we were getting the right size life jackets. After deciding which accessories we needed Angel showed us how everything worked. I'm very happy with our kayaks and glad we got them at Pike's Peak Outfitters. Every employee here is a rockstar! They also have lots of outdoor equipment. Pikes Peak Outfitter has gone above and beyond to provide top notch customer service since my first interaction with them during the summer of 2017. Since then I have purchased 3 Hobie kayaks from them. Rachel and staff have always been very attentive and went out of their way to address any needs or concerns, to include maintenance issues. As the only local Hobie dealer, I can tell you they do a great job of representing the brand and are extremely knowledgeable in the entire kayak realm if you do not know exactly what you are looking for. This is a mixed review, because when I talked to Rachel at Pikes Peak Outfitter about renting 2 kayaks to test out before buying one, I found her to be helpful and very knowledgeable. I was specifically looking for one that weighed 42-45 lbs that I could manage on/off the car by myself, and was excited to hear that my rental dollars could be applied to the purchase. I wasn't even going to buy one from them, but since she was so helpful, and the rent would apply, I was sold. Then, when she gave me the 2 kayaks, they loaded them on my car, and it wasn't until I got to 11 Mile Reservoir that I found that the bottom one (Jackson Cruise 12) was FAR too heavy for 1 person (female) to manage alone. Turns out it was 69 lbs. I was very upset/disappointed because my goal had been to try 2, and that one was immediately out of the question. When I told her upon my return that I felt that we had had miscommunication because the 12' one wasn't manageable for 1 person, she disagreed with me and rather than offering to let me try a different kayak, she simply told me that I was wrong. Needless to say, they lost a sale, and a customer, and I will certainly not recommend them. read more

This happened last summer. My wife had set up a rental for a kayak. When we got there, they demanded a credit card in addition to the pre-paid deposit. I didn't have one with me. The twit of a girl said then you can't take the kayak. I said well how about my debit card. She huffed and said fine. But then she said we will take a cash deposit out of it. I said how much she said $500 dollars. I said but to buy the kayak is only $300. She said that is our policy. I said, so ask someone about it. She refused. I said, fine give me my deposit back (the deposit is the rental fee) She said no, I'm not going to do that. I said I want to talk to the manager. She said he doesn't care. I said I will put this on yelp. She said 'are you threatening me'. I said no I'm promising. So here it is, beotch! If you want to be ripped off and have the old bait and switch pulled on you go to these sneaky underhanded jackasses. I hope you get a lot more crappy reviews and go bankrupt. read more
