Without a doubt, this is one of the most difficult exercise classes you can do. What makes it difficult is that no matter how good you become there will always be room to improve -- your form, the amount of resistance you add, or the speed at which you perform the exercise, there will always be a challenge here. Challenging moves and you can really get a sense of your progress as you keep going to the classes as things get easier and you can modify them to make it more challenging. Great class times at this location, the layout is the only thing I don't really like because all the machines are in a line so when you're trying to look around to remember what specifically a move is, it's a little harder. read more

How I miss Lisa G.! You know that expression "you don't know what you got till it's gone"? Well, I'm the one who relocated - 6000 miles away to beautiful Barcelona. I tried taking some pilates classes here, and what a let down. I mean the city is great, but the facilities for pilates are lackluster and mediocre. If I could import a business to Barcelona, it would be a Pilates Plus franchise with all those reformer/megaformer/whateverformers with the fabulous instructors like Lisa (I never took classes with anyone else - timing). I've quit Pilates until my next return to LA. And next time I visit, I'm for sure going to look up the schedule and take Lisa's class. She always had great music, worked me till I shook, and never let any of us give up. I always had to give it my all. And the results definitely showed. read more

I really like this studio. My first class here was the MegaBurn 40 and it was fantastic - I'm still shaking from it. Lacey was my instructor and I just love her. She is very friendly, helpful, informative and has the best energy. Especially for an early morning class, I welcome her energy. This class was had a variety of moves and wasn't too difficult to follow along (from somewhat of a Pilates newbie speaking). Clean, big-ish, and a very friendly environment. I'll certainly be back. I have only been to about 6 classes here but so far I love love love this studio. Beth will kick you butt (in the best way possible of course)! I also took a few classes with Lacey. She is super sweet and when you wake up to do pilates at 6 am, it is nice to see her bright cheery face :) I work out pretty often (about 5 to 6 days a week). Pilates plus killed me. Seriously, my legs, arms and core were sore for 2 whole days. For those of you who are into the classic pilates, do not expect the same sort of experience. Pilates plus is like pilates on acid. Fast pace and an intense work out. I am hoping to buy a package in the near future (one star off because it is a bit expensive). Came here off a LivingSocial deal for 5 classes and have been to 2 so far. My first session was with Brad who was nice and the one thing I commented on was that my machine had uneven handles. I don't like the thought of working out my muscles into crooked form. Felt great, went home smug thinking about how strong I was, lay in bed the next day wondering why I felt wrecked. Was sore for 3 days. lol The second time I had Jackie who is awesome. Her workout was more intense than Brad's so I'm glad I had her the 2nd time or I probably wouldn't have come back. :X It's so haaaaaaard. I like being able to feel my body work. I weigh a lot so you can only imagine how my body weight works against me on these machines. This time I went later in the day and noted that ventilation could be improved. There were no open doors or windows and a lot of sweaty humidity so that was kind of gross. Both instructors were really nice and I did notice that they spent time watching us and correcting posture here and there. I would think people who don't know how to work out could use an intro on correct form because it was assumed we'd all know how to use proper form on these machines. These workouts I totally feel afterwards and love the intensity of it. I'd prefer being able to use my livingsocial closer to home. bleh :) read more

I love SPX and have been to a few of the studios around town, and this is one of my favorite, and not just because it's close to my work. They have the newer machines which I like because the older ones hurt my wrists with the horizontal bar, and the instructors all have slightly different styles/energies of classes, so try them all. Lacey is amazing and so energetic that she makes up for everything that I lack in the mornings to get me moving, and Angie has hands down the most challenging/painful workout (in a great way). Definitely try this workout if you haven't already - addicting! I had to stop for awhile because of a back injury, but I recommend this studio to everyone. read more

Granted this place is not a traditional pilates studio (it's called Pilates PLUS for a reason), what they do here is more of a form of exercise that combines cardio, strength training and pilates. I got a special deal on RueLaLa, and after endless persuasion by a friend who is a Pilates Plus addict, I finally convinced myself to give it a try. It became a life-changing event! I was sore all over after my first session, which also means I did quite a fair bit of work with muscles I never knew I had. I thought it would get easier as I keep going but I was so wrong. Angie is by far my favorite trainer, I ALWAYS get my ass kicked by her. The first time I went to her class, I was literally dripping with sweat (I don't normally sweat very much), I was shaking and could feel my body burning. The day after the workout was most painful, I could hardly walk or even get out of bed because every inch of my body was aching. That's when you know you worked your body really hard. Despite the challenging workout, I found myself looking forward her class every week. I even bought special toe socks with grip on the soles just for the workout. Boy, I AM HOOKED! I've used up all classes purchased with the RueLaLa special, but I am definitely willing to come back for more. I haven't even mentioned the best part. I could feel my body changing after just 2 sessions, everything just seems to get 'tighter' and more toned. For the first time in my life I could see defined contours of my abs, it's so awesome! Just last weekend I saw my boyfriend checking out my butt and thighs, oh yea he's got a really huge grin on his face. Not only do I feel fitter and more flexible, I also feel more energetic on regular days, which really helps with my office job. Pilates Plus changed the way I work out, and the way I look. Okay the workout... it's no joke! But don't be intimidated. The first few times getting used to the terminology and things like that you can feel a little lost. Totally normal. This place is nuts! SPX pilates is very different than regular pilates. it's more focused on the exercise than the actual form. So make sure you know exactly what you're getting into it. It's not your traditional pilates. The reformers are built differently, but after a few minutes going over it with an instructor it's not that bad. Let me just say, everyone there was really nice. Parking isn't so bad. There is some parking behind the studio. Some on the side street and then directly across on Ventura. I had a series of 5 classes through Living Social I think. I used all of them. Here are my thoughts. This is hard. It's really hard. If you were not fit or somewhat fit, I think this place would be discouraging. The teachers who are really nice and cool about helping with modifications are good... but because so much of this is about keeping pace and on time and burning out your muscles, they have to keep their eye on the stopwatch. It will be harder if you don't have somewhat of a good core already. I really think SPX would be able to take it much further if perhaps they offered different levels and didn't throw you in 'with the sharks' so to say. If they had a beginner class they could focus better to get you to the place where they want to go, which admittedly looks awesome. I was also very intrigued by the row of TRX's in the back. I kept wanting to try them, but had no idea what class they were for. I don't think this place is for me, I really like to focus on small movements and understand the anatomy behind the movement. I've been coming here for over a year now. My first couple of months, i had no idea what i was doing and felt so weak. I would go home really sore. After a while, you start to see your body changing and getting stronger. My abs are more defined and the moves get easier to do. I recommend this place to everyone. Don't feel discouraged at first, you work out parts of you body that it never uses. It really is the best work out if you stick through it. Love this studio! It's bigger and much roomier than the Encino location. Audrey is definitely my favorite Pilates instructor. After having not attending class for almost 9 months at Pilates Plus, I decide to attend Audrey's class... and boy did she KICK MY DANG BUTT back into semi-shape. Every time I leave her class, I can barely walk to my car. It's a good feeling though! Time to get back on track and get my booty back into shape! Super clean. Nice atmosphere. Good music selection. Truly enjoyed this studio. My first time was today & I took Megabody Strength & Conditioning with Brad which was great! Definitely a bit more advanced Pilates class, but Brad was very easy to follow so newcomers wouldn't be too lost in this class either. Good music, challenging exercises & the class flew by. I love this place. I only come to the traditional reformer classes but they also have TRX classes if you're into that. On the reformer Beth will guide you through the most amazing workouts, just don't expect any mercy. Right when you thing she's going to count you out of a position she'll add something that challenges you even further. It makes me want to cuss her out, but then I just do as I am told and thank her at the end. She really knows what she's doing because I have noticed how much stronger I've gotten from her classes. If you do everything she says you WILL be shaking and sweating by the end of the session and you may wobble out to your car. I know i do. and If you come to class with me you may spot me giving her a dirty look when she throws out those added challenges but don't get me wrong, I LOVE every minute of it. Try it, you won't regret it. I seek out the 55 minute sessions over the 40 min. if I have the added time in my day since the transitions are so much faster in the shorter classes. I also try and come dressed and ready since they only have one small bathroom (no changing room) that always seems occupied when I come straight from work. read more

My first class was Monday 1/21/19. Beth was incredible. She explained how the machine worked to me before the class. She took time to correct my position on my first class. She was encouraging to me in the class. I got a very nice email from the owner and I appreciated that so much. The owner really cares about your experience. I took my 2nd class from Beth today and I appreciate that it was a different moves from the class 2 days ago. My body and core feels toned even after the first class. The workouts are fantastic. I consider myself athletic but no longer a gym goer! I'm an avid marathon runner, cycle plenty & for core/strength training I do Pilates. Not the traditional kind I call "Stretchy Pilates" on those old-school looking wooden machines that you go to for physical therapy, or rehab or spine lengthening! This is the mega-reformer kind that burns your body fat during & after the workout & makes you strong from the inside out. Who doesn't want that?! It's the kind where slow movement is best and form is everything to get maximum results. Wanna look AND feel good? Go here. I love a good challenge and this place offers a balance between all my workouts and I don't feel like I'm wasting time! I work long hours and the 40-min class is great - you are in and out and I've run 2-6 miles afterwards in my neighborhood to push myself and build endurance. The studio is comfortable, teachers pay attention to you & your form and music is great. All core ingredients to a cool studio. I only wish more classes were offered! I tried a week pass and will try to go regularly, adding this to my weekly runs and classes (cycle house, pulse fitness, pilates platinum & outdoor running/hiking). If you're in the SF area I recommend trying out a class or series. It's worth it. I feel great and it's awesome to feel stronger!!! read more

The exercise and the movements are great but the music in classes is way too loud and the instructor is screaming the whole time which makes the experience not fun and even stressful. I wish they make it less loud and more comfortable. Otherwise I'll go to another studio. read more

I got a group of 5 classes from LivingSocial, and what a great buy! The machines seem pretty new and the studio is clean. One down side to the studio though is that it's a long rectangular shape, so if the instructor is on one side of the room, it tends to be hard to hear what they say if you're on the other side of the room. I had classes with Beth who was really great! She was always keeping an eye on everyone's form, and was very motivational. She had me sweating by the end of each class, and I felt like a got a really good workout. I would love to go back, but they only seem to offer monthly memberships and you can't pay per class. If they ever offer packages for a number of classes, I'd definitely go back. read more

Took two classes at Pilates Plus for the first time this week and honestly I can't believe how late I am to the world of Lagree. For the longest time I was intimidated by the reformers and refused to give it a try but after seeing some incredible physical results on a few of my friends I had to see what it's all about. Megan was absolutely amazing! I told her I was new and she took the time to check on me consistently throughout the class and correct my form. The only thing I can say if you're looking to take a class here is make sure you take grip socks with you! They won't allow you to wear normal socks or be barefoot so I had to pay $19 for grip socks right before class started. Other than that I highly recommend this studio and I cannot wait to go back! read more

Just wanted to update, after buying 2 of the 8 pack packages back to back I decide to make a commitment and go on the auto pay. These classes have really helped me strengthen my mind and body. Before finding Pilates plus I was considering getting back on my anti anxiety medicine. However, since taking these classes my stress has lessened and I feel more balanced and happy. Dripping sweat with my muscles shaking, I walk out of class every time confident I am getting stronger in ways I could never do on my own. Lisa is a great instructor who works you hard. Pilates Plus is a fantastic Megaformer studio in Studio City! Great options for class times (LOVE the early week day classes and weekend classes), and fabulous teachers (Lacey is my favorite)! Tay- you are amazing! This Yelp review and 5 stars goes only to her. She's truly an amazing instructor and person. Being a newbie to Pilates world she makes the entire workout enjoyable and worth it. Tay is super patient, talented and kind with all the students. Honestly she is the only reason why I'm still attending to this Pilates location. The other instructors are pretty rude, mean and have a lot of attitude, especially Beth and Shannon. After taking their classes I was refusing to go just because they made feel like an outsider. Everyone was a beginner at some point in their life and it wasn't nice of them to behave the way they did towards a new student. Anyways, after I took Tay's class I decided that I'm going to stay and take only her classes. This location has a lot of potential and could be great, the only thing that I would recommend for the management is to work on their team and bring on board more instructors like Tay. Great class, targets all of your muscles. Haven't been that sore after a class in a long time. Three stars for the teachers. There are only 12 students in each class, yet they don't give any individual guidance, adjustments or explanation. Not traditional Pilates, so the carriage can be confusing at times.
