I'm just one more very satisfied PGD customer, this time I called to ask their help because on the previous morning, our (single, 16-year old) spring decided it was time to self-destruct (split into two halves). The sudden release of all that wound-up tension created a very loud 'explosion' that caused us and many of our neighbors to look around in search of the source -- after looking for a car or propane tank fire, or some natural gas explosion, we concluded it must be somewhere nearby but out of view. It wasn't until the next morning that my wife called me down to the garage because our garage door wouldn't open. The broken spring was immediately apparent, as was the answer to our puzzlement over the cause of the previous day's 'explosion.' Fortunately, that day's appointments were able to be re-scheduled, because there was no way at all that we could lift that 16' double door up even one inch on our own power. So I called Pilchuck to ask if they could fit in a spring replacement anytime during the next couple days. Fernando was already in the middle of his fully-scheduled workday, but offered to fit us into the very next morning's schedule. He and his son drove up at 7:30 AM, and got right to work. One really favorable feature of working with Fernando, besides his experience and skill, is his work ethic. The two of them set right to work removing out broken spring and installing the replacement (double) spring. In less than an hour's time he re-connected the electric door opener and pushed the button to show that the new spring was doing its job. A few minutes later I handed him a check and thanked him and his son for fitting this project into his already full, next day's schedule. Fernando's personality, experience and 'get-to-work' ethic are the principle assets he brings to the job. I'm totally happy to have chosen to work with him, and will gladly recommend him to anyone needing garage door work. My main complaint is that he should charge more for a service call so that he makes sure to stay in business because he runs a really nice operation that is very helpful. Garage door failed. They fixed it within a day or two of calling. They answered the phone quickly. Very good customer demeanor. They fixed the door for the service call. They did quote me for two new garage door openers because I asked them to. Don't know if I will do that yet or not but they fixed the failed unit. Cost of the service call was too low. Fernando was great. Very responsive to my initial contact and subsequent messages. Clear explanation of his pricing, he showed up on time, was very efficient during the installation, and completed two opener installs in a little over 4 hours. I can only imagine trying to do it all myself would have taken days. He cleaned all waste from the packaging, removed all the old parts and even saved the batteries and light bulbs from the old openers. While he was here I asked about making the door smoother and quieter and he explained how the cheap rollers that came with door were going to be noisy because they were metal and rattled around. He showed me some nice nylon covered rollers with ball bearing that would be much better so I had him add that to the installation. He had units on the truck so there was no delay getting this done. While overall this is more than I had planned on spending, I feel good about getting the top units installed correctly and hands on learning of how to program all the controls. read more

We worked with Fernando last autumn to replace two ancient garage doors. From the start, he was very responsive, concise, and informative. I appreciated that he was respectful and didn't try to sell me--he simply provided his best estimate and answered my questions. His bid was consistent with others in the area, but I felt he hit the right balance of service / cost / value. That, and I think the doors he was suggesting were of higher quality than the others... Fernando was dialed in on his process and timing. From estimation to final install, I trusted his communication and follow through. In the end, the doors were replaced without mishap or concern. Just as an example of his responsiveness and willingness to work on our behalf: we asked if we could do a minor alteration (glass panes) of our order before it was submitted. He'd already submitted it, but was willing to reach out to the door manufacturer and see if they could alter it. They responded that they would. However, the doors that showed up were the original unaltered ones. Fernando and his installer, Francisco, installed these to get the doors in place, but pledged they'd come back and replace them with the modified panels once the manufacturer straightened things out. My garage door had stopped working. It would not open fully. Seeing the 5 star reviews, I called Premier Garage Door. Got an appointment the next day. Fernando was on time and fixed it quickly. But... he said that the fix is temporary because the garage opener and its mechanical parts being old will give way soon. He recommended replacing the opener, track and related parts and gave me an estimate. Next day I called another company that is highly rated on Yelp to compare the price and they gave me an estimate of half of what Fernando had quoted. I called a second company that is also highly rated and had a technician come in to take a look. Their estimate was also half of what Fernando had quoted. The technician's recommendation was that though the system was old, it didn't look like it needs to be replaced anytime soon. It seemed like Fernando was more interested in making a buck.
