He was professional and he did not even drop a nail on the floor. He was so attentive in picking up all the scraps and dogged for 3 hours nonstop to fix two garage openers. They did not try to sell me anything considering that I had a pretty old setup. Now I asked the tech why the door was squeaking and he advised me to change bearings if I needed. No pressure. I have owned the original LiftMaster garage-door opener in my home since 1998. For nearly 30 years, that opener was an outstanding product--reliable, durable, and virtually flawless. It reminded me of the old AT&T telephones: built like a tank, simple, dependable, and seemingly impossible to destroy. You could drop one repeatedly and it would keep working. That kind of reliability is exactly why, when it finally came time to replace it, I wanted another LiftMaster. Unfortunately, my experience with the company that installs LiftMaster products in my area has been extremely disappointing. The pricing is excessive, and the business model appears to be heavily focused on maximizing profit rather than providing customers with fair value. Before hiring any installer, I strongly recommend doing your homework, reading the reviews, and--most importantly--getting multiple quotes. I made the mistake of assuming that staying with the same manufacturer would also mean receiving the same level of quality and integrity in the installation process. That assumption cost me. The service experience was mechanical, impersonal, and, in my opinion, far too focused on what could be charged rather than what was actually reasonable for the customer. There are undoubtedly local companies capable of providing the same service for far less money, so do not make the mistake I made of assuming that the first company representing the brand is necessarily your best option. To be fair, this review is not directed at the technicians who come to the home. My criticism is directed at the company itself, its pricing practices, its business model, and the way it chooses to treat its customers. LiftMaster built a reputation over decades by producing dependable products. My original opener is proof of that. What concerns me is that a company representing that brand can deliver such a disappointing customer experience and potentially damage the reputation that LiftMaster worked so hard to establish. LiftMaster: you have a great product. Be much more careful about who represents your brand.
