Just earlier today I saw them pull some bourbon bottles for a customer without him even asking in the $100+ range. It's two brothers that run it primarily and I've always seen one of the two working. I love supporting local businesses and this place is wonderful as far as a family-run place goes. My boyfriend has also had nothing but positive experiences with the employees and selection. Fortunately there are plenty of stores that break from that mold, and Mayflower is one of them. It's very clean and well lit with a wide selection of beer, wine, and liquor. We've only bought beer there but found their selection impressive, with some offerings from Michigan/Midwestern breweries that don't turn up often even in "specialty" markets. Price per six pack will run a little higher than most other stores, though maybe that's inevitable with little direct competition in the vicinity. At any rate, it won't prevent me from going there again should thirst strike while driving down Main Street in Plymouth.

It was then the incident happened as I was leaving the owner stopped me and I quote "Don't come back here if your just going to walk around and look at stuff and not buy anything. I don't have time to watch you". I just simply replied that I won't be coming back. A truly rude and inconsiderate owner. Who had nothing to offer but price gauging a customer. Just a terrible store that treats it customers as if they are a bother to have in the store.

Most of the voices are silenced by my own internal voice going, "Holy sh*t I do not have 14.99 to spend on a 22 oz. bottle of beer!" Price aside, I've found many beers I wasn't expecting but couldn't find beers that I can find elsewhere. So it's strangely hit or miss. They have a walk-in cooler with a variety of six-packs and some regional/international beers. I found some of my favorite Colorado beers and not others (like Fat Tire, I can find that in other A2 liquor stores but not here). The staff isn't the most helpful or knowledgeable in the world. But they're friendly enough. They have a good selection of rolling tobacco (when I drink I tend to quit quitting and thus return to my Bali Shag ways). Every time I've been in here there's been at least one gentleman who perhaps is a street dweller which makes for quite an olfactory experience. It's a strange contrast to the moneyed undergrads and bourgie grads that sift through the aisles. But no matter. This LIQUOR STORE (where I come from a "party store" is a store with balloons and costumes for children) completes the trifecta along with the Beer Depot and my local neighbor Falsetta's.

We were not greeted when we entered; were ignored as we browsed while the two women staffing the store talked loudly with one another, swearing a blue streak; and were not acknowledged when we eventually made for the door and walked out. Ended up getting a nice Josh cab sav @ the nearby Kroger for under $14, while Hamlet wanted $19 and change. To be or not to be? With this Hamlet, it's a big not.
