Update as of 10/07 After writing this scathing review, Pillar has finally realized their mistake and started to slowly make amends by upholding the Pillar Promise. Now if they agree that I did use the Pillar Promise within the window, then that means they kept me in their apartment by delaying meeting with me. Not entirely sure who these people are or aren't. Their website is pretty barren in terms of their corporate leadership, company direction and their company culture. Getting management to enforce general run of the mill conduct pool policies has felt like pulling teeth. Guests and visitors to the community are afforded more rights and comfort than paying residents. Everyone blames everyone for tough decisions and will take no responsibility; ie... her manager's manager's manager made this decision etc.... I'm So done. These people are greedy crooks. read more

WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Crown court sold to an investment group in San Diego, although I think they overpaid for the property, 420 units a mix of 1's 2's and 3's and paid $420K/unit, 2.5X what Pillar paid 9 years ago, so Pillar made probably a 5X ROI. But we now see a big time difference, a management that uderstands their salaries are paid by tenants, they are welcoming, friendly, so far efficient, and most of all responsive and helpful with issues, ie tenant friendly (so far). Prior management and ownership felt entitled, like they were doing tenants a favor. And my comments go to local management as well as ownership-the latter rarely responded when contacted after local management did not respond. They were unresponsive to issues, lots of dog crap not picked up, leaks and broken water mains and pipes, and never advocated for a tenant issue, just always assumed they were right, the tenant wrong. They did not enforce provisions of the lease-noise, marijuana use, subleasing (not allowed by lease, but allowed by management/ownership)-just a few examples (we shall see if new management adheres to TENANT the leases), They always took the cheapest bid from contractors, for example the whole community was repainted (exterior) less than 2 years ago with no regard to structural integrity. Guess what, new ownership has started the re-painting of the entire community. They pulled plants throughout the community, without replacing, now a majority of tenants have planter boxes outside their units. WOW. The deferred maintenance that prior ownership left new ownership with has to be enormous. We shall see how the latter deals with that. I have been a resident in the Pillar 56th Street North apartments in Phoenix for over a year. I cannot say enough good things about this community and the team that is always ready and available to help out, answer questions, do repairs and keep us safe and more. Jadyn Gordon, a member of the leasing team, assisted me in finding the perfect apartment when I realized I will be living at 56th St. Apartments for longer than planned and needed to move to a larger apartment. Jadyn spent time researching all possibilities for the perfect apartment for me. She listened carefully as I gave her a very long "check list". Jadyn checked each box and showed me several choices before I made my decision. Jadyn's caring and concern led me to the perfect "home" for me. Jadyn was quick to respond to any questions I have had during this transition. She knew just what I was hoping to find within the complex and she found it for me. She was always available to take my calls and bring me lost packages, keys, etc.! Always with a smile and "Please let me know if I can do anything for you at anytime". We have lived in two Pillar communities--almost eight years in an older development, and currently in a new mid-rise. Like many renters, we sign or renew leases based on the monthly rent and the facility's physical condition and Pillar Communities offers a range to choose from. But from our standpoint there is an over-riding factor, the onsite people who manage Pillar's properties. Kudos to James Mitchell, once our property manager and now a district manager and Tracy Goodhope who manages our current location. I lived at two different apartments owned by Pillar before buying a home and was always pleased with not only the quality of the apartments but with the quality of the service. First, both apartments were clean when I moved in and any maintenance issues were always handled quickly. A couple of requests were even fixed the same day! Second, the staff at both apartments were always friendly and helpful. They have great parties for the residents, too! I highly recommend this company to anyone looking to rent a nice apartment with friendly staff! read more

I would be very cautious about this rental company. They were ok... until they weren't. I've lived at what was Pillar at Taviano for a few years. Most of the time it was ok. But we're also not the type of people that complain much so we didn't have to have too much interaction with them. But about 5 months or so ago we started to realize things were just not getting taken care of. The maintenance of the property was falling by the wayside. Animal defecation all of the place, whether it be dog, bird or whatever. Garbage not taken care of, dog bags not properly stocked etc. This was all rather odd as they were usually on top of things. They did use the coronavirus as an an excuse to get out of a lot of things. For example, they stopped taking packages at the office from the USPS and said USPS wouldn't bring them anymore. USPS begs to differ, they said it was the property that refused to take them because of the virus. So to keep the staff safe they put their residents at risk by having to line up with the other cattle at the post office to pick up packages. These are not people that care much it seems. In July we signed another year lease because trying to find a new place in a pandemic is rather troublesome. Last month we wake up to find a note on our door saying, "hey as of today the property is sold and we're no longer in charge." According to the one maintenance guy left (before he was shown the door too), this had been planned for a while. They knew they were selling when we signed the lease. And it lines up with the timeline of when the property started going to crap. No advance notice, no heads up. No option to move elsewhere or anything like that. Now the new company comes in and is talking about jacking the rent by hundreds of dollars. But they get to take over the lease so we're stuck here. And I get it, the property is more valuable if they have tenants in it when they sell. So once again, protecting themselves instead of the residents. So I'm not saying DON'T rent from them, just know who you are getting in bed with. Once they decide to move on, the resident will be the one who gets the shaft. They will abandon care of the property and just ride it out until they can sneakily leave. It's just a poor way to do business and Pillar should be ashamed of themselves. But they won't be. Their actions have more than proved it. Extremely shady so be aware. That's all I'm saying. read more

I have lived at a few different Pillar Communities and I can not rave enough about the amazing customer service! Everyone listens, and plans are put in place right away to take care of situations. The only reason I left my apartment was because I would purchase a house. If I was renting again I would definitely go back to a Pillar community hands down. read more

This review is in regards to 56th North Apartment on 56th St. and Deer Valley Rd. I understand things get broken or need repair, obviously. The issue is that the property management company will not fix them in a timely manner. Most of the things I mention below have been an issue for SEVERAL MONTHS (6-12 months) even after multiple tenants, including myself, have complained over and over. Their answer every time, "we are working on it". I continue to pay well over $1,700 per month in rent for this "resort style living". It is definitely not. I would not recommend anyone choose to live here. Pool is stained and dirty Pool shower broken - several months (I'm sure this is a health code violation) Cabana TV's broken - several months Worn out and ripped pool furniture Occasionally we have witnessed homeless people sleeping in the stairwells Over flowing dumpsters tenants have to drive past when driving in or out of the complex Dog park smells like urine BBQ's not working properly Missing, torn, or worn flag signs as you come in the property Ice makers in common areas are broken Broken security gate lock on the property allowing ANYONE to access the property My neighbor's car was vandalized on 9/6/18 read more

They locked us out of our condo because they decided to turn on the electric gate at the entry way. They claim that they mailed out notices to everyone. But I met at least 15 other people with the same problem. This company will take your money and not help at all. Forget about ever getting a call back. This is by far the worst HOA I have ever heard of. Their employees refuse to give phone numbers to the company, managers will never talk to you, and in our complex the employees even deny that they work for the company. Instead they gave us the phone number of a company that has not managed our complex for over 2 years. They are down right frauds. Avoid at all costs. No matter how good the property looks, or how great the price is, just turn around and walk away. It's not worth the hassle. Quite frankly I am surprised they haven't been sued out of business. read more

Out of all the apartment companies I've ever lived with, pillar is by far superior. They have an amazing transfer program, and their customer service is unbeatable. I've gone to other apartments they have and I am treated with dignatiy and respect from the time i come in To the time I leave. I definitely recommend then as a whole to all my friends read more

I have had the most welcoming experience when I lived at a Pillar Communities property. The Staff was very helpful and really seemed like they cared about me. This company took over a pb bell property and has allowed it to fall into an embarrassing state. Trash isn't picked up throughout the property, the pet waste stations are left without trash pickup for weeks at a time, the walkways aren't cleaned, the landscaping is in disarray. Overall I'm shocked to see the awful shift with the new property management. Co tenants don't like looking upon this mess. read more

Pillar sold the Cantara Apt complex with no notice to tenants. So after two years with thoughts of moving to another Pillar Community, we are stuck with no use of their deposit transfer to a new site. Found out by not being able to get on the web maintenance page to fix the broken security lever on the door. So called another Pillar property and was told, "Oh, they are selling it today." Its unfortunate that I have to give them a one star, because in reality they dont deserve even that. I live at the Metro at Zanjero Apartements and it is the worst place I have ever lived. The management will not do anything to help you, they make promises then dont do anything, Every weekend there are tons of kids that take over the pool then leave in a caravan of cars, there are never any chairs at the pool to sit on. You can find a better place to live next to a dumpster. THIS PLACE SUCKS. read more

I absolutely hate this place! For the first week into moving into Pillar at Rock Canyon the office staff was pretty helpful but that soon changed. The pillar communities has a very high overturn rate. I lived there less than a year and I saw over a dozen different staff members none of which were competent. I didn't have much problem with our apartment maintenance wise but we had extremely terrible neighbors. I NEVER in a million years thought our downstairs neighbors would be louder than us! They were up at very odd hours of the night arguing yelling at each other, slamming doors, and causing problems in 2 different buildings. On many different occasions I had complained as well as other tenants (which the staff had told me) nto the staff and was told multiple times that nothing could be done. Not until I called the cops they finally were able to do something. But by that time we had already concidered taking up on an offer and transferring to a different community in hopes that we would be in a better situation. While I was 8 months pregnant we moved during SUMMER in hopes of a place that we could call home. HA! We moved to Courtney Vista at Zanjero thinking we found the place... First thing the day we move in our garage was not READY they actually wrote the wrong garage on our lease as well as gave us wrong information about our Apartment and the new garage they assigned us to had a tenants stuff STILL INSIDE!!! Wtf?! We waited for hours while the apartment complex moved this persons things. Our fridge didnt even have a waterline our patio was filthy. Oh and we were told we would be getting new carpets, that was a lie. Days later they wanted us to sign a new lease for that, should have gotten copies now that I think about it. Next! Our mailbox number was incorrect so we couldn't get mail for about 2 weeks. We received no information about anything! Our building is soooo poorly constructed, their are so many cracks and holes in our apartment that the bugs and critters from outdoors LOVE our place. It's lovely when I have a two month old with sun spiders hanging around... Which brings me to another point. Burns pest control is control is a fraud and will come in a "spray" when you say no permission to enter also they disregard your baby being RIGHT by where they are spraying. We walk down from our stairs and right into the road where people DO NOT follow the 15 mph sign, to which I suggested should be a speed bump and once again was told they would get back to me but of course they did not LIKE ALWAYS. The parking lot is FULL of broken down cars that have been sitting for MONTHS with nothing done to them, yet I have NO WHERE to park -.- Oh and for 3 months they told us they hadn't had a groundskeeper and the complex was so apparently left unkempt. I could go on but my fingers are tired.... DO NOT MOVE into these communities. Take it from someone who has lived in two and received the same dissatisfaction from both. read more

I am an actual person that lives at the Pillar of Scottsdale. I don't work there and I am not being paid to write this review. I'm just letting you know this, so you know my review is a legit review. This is just my honest opinion, to help those looking to live at the Pillar of Scottsdale. I feel you shouldn't do it! If you could sum up the Pillar of Scottsdale in one word.... I feel it's HORRIBLE or NIGHTMARE! In my opinion, I feel you should SAVE your time, energy, and money and DON'T MOVE IN HERE!! I feel it will be a mistake that you will regret. I feel they put on a "show", when you come to visit and its "JUST THAT A SHOW"!! I feel why pay a luxury price when you aren't getting anything close to that. To me, it's my opinion; I feel they are much, much better places around the Pillar of Scottsdale; go there. I feel you will thank me in the long run. I feel the front office completely misrepresent the truth. I feel you get different answers depending on the time of day. Which's makes me feel extremely uncomfortable! I feel that the front office of is not helpful after you move in. I feel they are extremely rude and condescending. I feel if you complain about something they don't like; I feel they use threats to intimidate you, for whatever they don't want to deal with. I feel you need to tract your own rent because I feel that they don't always get it right. I feel they never take ownership for their mistakes. I feel that they make it your fault all the time, regardless! I feel the apartments are very run down and the walls are paper thin. I feel you can hear everything that your neighbor does (I mean everything, if you get my drift). I feel that nothing is upgraded. I feel that when they say Luxury, I feel it should mean just that. I feel there isn't anything Luxury about these average apartments. It's my opinion; I feel that when you have amenities, you should be able to use them whenever; I feel that's not the case here. In my opinion, you should be able to use the club house amenities other than during business hours. If you work during their business hours, well, I feel you are out of luck except you can use the pool until a certain time at night. I feel if that is the case, you are JUST paying for a ruin down apartment with paper thin walls. I feel why pay a luxury price when you aren't getting anything close to that. I feel and believe that the Maintenance "Band-Aids" your repairs. I feel that within a day you are putting in the same maintenance request for the very same thing you just had fixed. Which's make me feel extremely uncomfortable! I feel it takes a day or so before they come and fix your request. To me, it's my opinion; I feel they are much, much better places around the Pillar of Scottsdale that are MORE worth it. To Sum up.... I feel it's been a never ending NIGHTMARE that I can't wait for it to end. This just my opinion! Good Luck to you. read more

I would not let any friend or family members move into any Pillar complexes. My lease is not over until 10/2015, I will not resign my lease with them. The apartment complex does not keep their words on fixing thing in your apartment. My washer was out for 3 months, ( washer came with the apart) after calling everyday the staff just acted like they were surprised that it had not been repaired. But when I lost my job they would not work with me on paying my rent. I tried to pay in in payment when ever my unemployment came in, but they just served my with court papers to be evicted. I had to pay for the court cost plus all other charges. Pillar would not except payment or would not let me break my lease due to lost of job. I am not happy with Pillar complexes, and will be so happy when Oct. gets here. read more
