Coast or mountains? North or south? 3,4,5 hours? How about west AND less than an hour from the casa? OK! After 30 years playing in the CA Delta ( I am old, kinda) it was high time for something new! We bought a camping trailer. Weekends are short and the coast is the coast, and the closest coastal goldmine for us is HMB. Sure, there is the Tahoe National Forest but most of these are closed for winter. PPRV doesn't close for winter. They are 1st come, first served and you can't get in past 6 p. You can check in as early as 8:30 a.m. and one of the cool things is real time site availability on their very nice website! After checking in, you get an escort and help backing you into your spot. Our "hotel on wheels" only costs $89 to park in their FULL hookup facility. For a few dollars more, you can get a coastal view spot, unobstructed from other rigs. Once you hook up, there are options. Walk on beach, take a boat whale watching. You can go sport fishing, kayaking, swimming, surfing, bike riding or all of the above, if time and money permit. You could also sit in a chair and do nothing. Early bird gets the worm over here, and you'll definitely need a plan b and c in the event there are no spots when you arrive. Don't worry, there are other spots an hour or two away to the south. This is the perfect place for locals who want to get out of the house for the weekend and stay at the beach. Pillar Point is very clean, checkin was easy, hosts were great, and even help park the rigs. It is close to the harbor. The noise from the road is pretty intense. Hwy 1 is right outside the park and higher than the Rv park which amplified the noise even more. In addition they are currently dredging the harbor. I would recommend if you reserved an ocean front spot. read more

I just spent almost 2 months here off and on starting in July 8 of 2022 and ending today, September 7 2022 after being booted out of the park last night because why? That's a great question, I never got any notifications of breaking policy or warnings. However, on Monday, the best camp host that I've ever had experience with was terminated and all I that makes sense to me is the other host is singling out those of us who recognize Tee as the superior host while Trudy is like the character from Seinfeld; The Soup Nazi. Under Tee, the park was cleaner, happier, and safer. Under Trudy, it's constant yelling and anger, but more than that, Trudy doesn't bother to clean up trash, never walks the park, doesn't help everyone park (I witnessed incidents of property damage on Trudy's week because she wasn't helping - 2 pics uploaded) Trudy has lost it, like literally lost it. Won't ever stay here again... here's why Pros: location is right on the water and next to the wonderful walking path. Close to town, the beach and hikes. Full hook ups. Cons: right on the highway, horrible road noise. Your on top of your neighbor, spots are less than 10 ft from another rig, really tight lot. horrible host, loud, rude and no disregard for others. you have to disconnect and park your truck in another lot next door. read more

The spots are first come first serve so you can't reserve but there were plenty on the Sunday night we arrived. the check-in process was simple and easy, each spot has a sewer dump hole (big enough that we didn't need a 90 degree connector) and hook ups for $80 . I'll be straightforward with this place, it's like they took a parking lot and just threw on hookups. It's not all bad but you're in for a parking nightmare if you have a long trailer or RV. It's so crowded that even some trailer slides touch each other! At least the beach and surrounding areas are very nice and great for recreation and fishing. Advice: Please be careful if you have a long trailer (35ft or more) and use a water pressure regulator as the pressure is so high that we had a leak on our first run. Also don't park along the rear fencing unless you like hearing traffic all day and night! read more

One of the best parking lots I've ever stayed in overnight. Very nice hosts and a fantastic location right on the beach - especially if you're able to get one of the front row spaces. Fantastic views of the bay and the anchorage area... and you can walk right out to the ocean in a few seconds. It's "dog friendly", but they have only a very small designated "poop and pee patch" (right across the front sidewalk) that they want all pets to use, exclusively. However there is a nice walking/running/biking trail area to the south...so if you need to walk your dog and have a little time, head that way instead. Mavericks, as well as a few decent places to eat are just to the north, all within walking distance. The RV park itself is little more than a small parking lot with hookups, but it's kept clean. The biggest downside was the loud, constant traffic noise. The park sits right on the 101 freeway and the traffic is never-ending....24 hours a day. We had intended to spend 2 nights to enjoy the surrounding area, but due to the traffic noise (and not being able to sleep), we left after one night. read more

First day we arrived, within 10 minutes the host had already walked over to us 4 times asking us to hurry and pay. He said it was 'almost 7pm'. Their site says checkin is until 9pm so I'm not sure what his problem was. There are NO amenities here! The only thing they have is a bathroom and good luck finding the key for that! They have the RV hookups but the so-called cable didn't work at all for us, the 3 days we were there! Not one single channel. The road noise is bad no matter where you park, 'partial view' or 'beach view'. And FYI, Partial View, should be called, 'view of 25 other motorhomes, with ocean sounds in the background'. The second night we payed the $20 extra and moved to a 'beach view' Spot to get away from the road noise. The sounds from the highway were almost just as loud. The hostess ran over, again, to make sure we knew we had to pay the additional $20 for the spot. As the person next to us tried to back into their spot she talked badly about them and touted that she could easily get in and do it for them but 'they need to learn'. Seemed she loved to talk about herself and only whatever she wanted to talk about, but nonstop. And her tiny little dog barked nonstop. We heard it ALL MORNING/DAY! Everyday! And a warning to the 'beach view' people that still go here despite this review, the smell of bird droppings are extremely strong on that $20 more expensive, beach view spot. The third day, she walked up to our motorhome before 9:30am hounding us about whether we were staying or going. Just so everyone knows, Checkout isn't until 12pm. I'm not sure she is aware. If we're still there at 12pm, then come over and ask for payment-otherwise, let people be! I don't vacation/camp to be constantly nagged/talked at, by a stranger that seems to love to hear herself speak. This hostess cares only about money. She must be lonely because she does not leave you alone. Between the road noise, the hostess nagging, her dog constantly barking, and the complete lack of amenities--this place is a waste of money. If you've got the gas, you'd be better off parking in the back of a parking lot and turning your generator on! Don't waste your time or money. Keep your Peace of mind by staying away from here! read more

This park is "no frills", basically it's a parking lot that offers the most beautiful ocean views! You can walk or bike ride for miles. There are several restaurants near by and you can fish on the rocks. The beach is clean and kid/pet friendly. The park it's self is kept very clean and is nicely landscaped for being a concrete lot. This is first come, first serve only!!! It gets packed in here so don't expect a quiet stay, especially on the weekend. Big groups of people camp here, lots of 'regulars it seems like. The host is very accommodating and friendly. We stayed for 4 days and loved it. We ate at a few places and walked everywhere which was so convenient. The weather was fantastic, we really lucked out. We are traveling up the west coast and we enjoyed this place so well we ended up staying a few more days. They do not take reservations so we high tailed it to this park as soon as checkout time hit. We have a great spot overlooking the ocean. It has walking trails that are very well maintained. We have a dog so that was a must. I highly recommend this place. We will be back. The only downside was our tanks grey/black we on the left side of our unit and the hookups were on the right side. Fifth wheels need a very long hose whereas motor homes seemed to work better. There are a lot of restaurants around and most you can walk to. Just 3 miles away, there are grocery stores and all your usual strip mall stuff. Our view is so gorgeous right out the back of our fifth wheel. We also had a dog sitter come and watch our dog for the day while we went into San Francisco. We took our RV out for the first time since the purchase and decided to go to Pillar Point RV Park and it was a great decision! Although a bit tight with little space between RVs, the hosts were friendly, helpful and cheerful. Our first experience doing the RV trip was amazing. The location is at the beach and there was a surfing contest/activity during our stay. We loved walking to the harbor and enjoyed the environment! Our hosts, Terry and his wife were great and made our first experience a memorable one. My partner and I are full-timers, and we like to stay here on the weekends--so at this point, we kind of feel like regulars! The camp hosts, Terrie and Patsy, are always a joy to see when we stay. They genuinely care about their visitors; I always see them helping drivers maneuver their rigs into and out of spots, and I often see them chatting with guests like a friendly neighbor. We usually stay in partial-view sites, which are $67.20 after tax. That may seem a little high for some, but because we are full-timers, we consider it pretty cheap when you compare it with the cost of apartment living in the Bay Area. And the partial views are still literally just steps away from the beach, so if you want to catch the ocean breeze, it's basically at your doorstep. In addition to the great walkability, you're also a 10-minute drive to downtown, which offers lots of cute shops and restaurants. I would say the only con would be some of the road noise, but it doesn't bother us. However, if you're looking for total peace and quiet and want to experience the serenity of nature, maybe this isn't the campground for you. We, on the other hand, love coming here and look forward to many more visits! Tip: They don't take reservations, so I recommend checking availability on their website first, which they update every few hours. read more

Spent a couple nights here over Halloween, super little park and the folks that run it are very cool. They are friendly, easy to deal with and respect all the Covid 19 protocols. The park is clean and well maintained and the people that were staying there were friendly and respectful. Great location for walks to HMB, a near by beach at Miramar and the restaurant of the Princeton area. Looking forward to returning soon. read more

Just stopped by to watch the surfers and the sunset. The first set that rolled in looked promising, but was petering out and the wind pickup was making it sloppy. Looks like a crowded place, some decent some probably still learning. This place is right off the 101, so its a protected little corner. Plenty of street parking, so you don't have to fork out the $5 to be shadowed by the RVs. Better bet to take Capistrano Rd to W Point Ave and watch the Maverick's action. read more

Great view if you have a front seat. Don't listen to them when they say "partial view" it's NOT partial view because people set up their chairs and there's no view. Might as well wait for the full view. Everything was good people (other campers) were nice. But the camp host patsy she's nice. However her husband is a drunk and likes to give attitude. Then she bends to his will after he STARTS fights with people and kicks the ones he STARTED the fight with out. He shouldn't even be drinking and getting belligerent when you own a damn business. If you don't want an OVERPRICED Stay with NO hospitality don't stay here. It's such a beautiful place. It's a shame the camp hosts ruin it. read more

The hosts Marty & Mary are the sweetest most hard working couple we have ever met at a campground. They run this first come first serve campground so well. Coordinating check in's, check out's and switching locations seamlessly. On the way out we forgot to close the awning. ;(. Don't ever do that! Marty helped us remove the broken awning as well as coordinate with our neighbors to facilitate the insurance exchange and temporary repair of both units. We are forever greatful for their help. I showed up to pillar point on my way to a vintage RV show in Santa Cruz and was denied due to dog discrimination and rude customer service. We have been coming here for several years. It is a different type of camping than a state park. It has beautiful views, easy access to great walking and biking trails. 2020 has limited the dinners available in the area but we really enjoy Half Moon Bay Brewing, it is an easy walk and dog friendly.
