The San Lorenzo river is right there and just beautiful. Easy to walk down to the river. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. I love their little store- it has the right amount of miniature basics and there is also ice cream pints and the most delicious ice cream sandwiches. The other bonus is that you can burn a real wood fire at night! Will definitely keep coming back!

Everyone was very friendly. Not many amenities, but we had our full hook-ups and use of the bathroom facilities which is really all we needed as we were out most of the time. The park is super close to downtown which was a plus. We had issues with our power as we had to convert from 50 to 30amp, but I think our rig was just too powerful which is not the parks fault. Everything else was great! We were told there is a cool hiking trail and creek but we did not experience that for ourselves. Definitely a cute little spot to stay close to town!

And when I say last minute I mean 4:00 Friday on Memorial Day weekend. Any way called them and they had room so we trekked out there Saturday Morning. It's a neat little place jus off the Hwy 156. What I liked was that it wasn't busy. It was super quiet. I only saw a few people the whole time we were there. The hosts were super nice. the only down side was that we wanted to stay an extra day but the office has very limited hours 1-5 i believe. But I just called and left a message and everything was OK. The kids wanted to have a camp fire but there were not fire rings. But they sold fire wood?? What??? so I asked as were leaving and they have fire rings they will let you use. Host said they they will put some in soon and that most people bring their own.

At night you hear nothing but the occasional animal sounds...a great break from reality from the hustle and bustle of the work world in San Jose. During the day, pretty much the same, I almost feel guilty talking to my daughter outside and making noise that may disturb someone....it is colder right now, so that may change in the summer, but either way, I kind of like the peace and quiet. The place is surrounded by beautiful green hills in the springtime and is close to town, yet surrounded by nature, a perfect blend. I was able to get a great spot that is somewhat private with privacy fencing and the lot is not too big and not too small (have a 32ft and could fit another 32ft right next to it and still have room. A little worried that new managers are coming in, so we'll see how that goes, but so far so good! The only downside is the cell service, but the manager let me know to turn my phone to wi-fi calling which worked, the only bad thing is I still don't get text messages...not too much of a deal since I don't really text, but I do miss an occasional work text. The washers and dryers are fairly inexpensive in relation to neighboring laundromats, which is helpful. One of least expensive parks in the area which is very appreciated in this over-inflated area. Overall, no major concerns, I would recommend this place to others who may be looking.

Not the most accessible, however. Very steep concrete steps at one end, lower steps at the other, both in moderate disrepair. Wildlife includes sea otters, sea lions, various seabirds. So last year my wife was diagnosed with cancer, so this year we decided to make the annual group camping trip a little easier by renting an rv. We rented a camper and arranged to have it dropped off to the campground, something the company had done regularly in the past. Unfortunately, a few weeks earlier, New Brighton started somewhat inconsistently requiring tow vehicles to be present at the campground at all times. I say inconsistent as it seems there are many campers at sites without tow vehicles present, and I am not sure why employees of the RV company we used, Alfredo and Roberto, had the lady at the gate so upset with them when so many other local campers seemed to have no issues. This afternoon, when Roberto was trying to drop off our camper at our campsite, she got so upset she threatened to call the police on him. I have some theories as to what might motivate the inconsistent treatment of visitors but I won't speculate openly. At any rate, with the camper denied entry, we dropped off our food at the campsite, which looked well maintained, and locked it in the generously sized bear locker for our friends before regrettably heading home - our weekend trip ending before it started. If you plan to camp here you should either plan to have your tow vehicle never leave, bring a drivable RV, or hey, maybe just not get the rules enforced on you because you were luckier than Alfredo or Roberto.

The season runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day and there are events almost every weekend. Families put on Saturday night dinners and Sunday breakfasts. There are other events such as hot fudge sundaes at the pool, a 4th of July parade, and a talent show at the end of the season. The grounds boast a gazebo at the top of the property which has a beautiful view of the mountains, a creek a the bottom of the property which was a blast to play in as a kid, a playground, a pool, a heated porch for dinners, a snack bar, and plenty of space to run around. The cabins here are quaint and on the small side, but most have the usual amenities like cable TV, stoves, fridges, etc. Cabins aren't allowed to have dishwashers or washing machines/dryers since these properties aren't intended for long term use, but they are all unique and very cute. Most of the people here, or at least the people that participate in the weekend activities are very friendly and include elderly couples and young families with babies.

The manager, Allison, was very accommodating and she gave us all the information we needed about our stay when we booked the room. One warning- if you're a light sleeper, avoid unit F. It sits right on Cliff St. which is fairly busy. The weather was warm, but we couldn't sleep with the windows open because of the street noise. I would recommend to the owners that you invest in some tower fans for your units. All in all, we were very pleased with Surfside Apartments.
