This inspection was also followed up with a comprehensive inspection report which described all areas evaluated with recommended actions, as needed. Also noteworthy is that ProTec Is one of the few inspection services that uses a continuous radon monitor to evaluate radon levels. Shane beat the prices of the two other inspectors I requested quotes from and I was even able to get the infrared imaging to check the walls for moisture and whatnot. The inspection itself was super thorough, the inspection report was also very detailed and you can see a sample report on his website of what you will be getting from him. You can even create a list of items using the website the report is on and it is very easy to do, which you can send to the seller to request to be fixed before you agree on the price. We ended up saving a lot of time and money by sending this list over to the seller. Shane really looked into every crevice of the home, and by walking around with him he gave us some very good advice about what will cost a lot to fix and should be done professionally, and what we could probably do ourselves very cheaply. He also gave us some information in general that would be nice to know about your new home, such as pointing out where the electrical panels and water shutoff valves are. We even got a little book at the end about being a home-owner and things you should know when you own a home. We had actually been able to view two inspection reports on the same home from previous buyers that fell through, and Shane's inspection report caught a lot more things than the other two reports. If for some reason we ever need an inspector in the future we know we will call Shane first.

He was easy to contact via email, quoted a reasonable price, and we were able to set an appointment the next day. He arrived on time and was very professional throughout. He explained how his test was even more thorough than the abatement's company's test, as his actually would specifically ID asbestos fibers (vs a general fiber test the other company did). You can tell he knows what he is talking about. The test took two hours and I was able to work while Kevin filled out paperwork in his car. He contacted me the next day with the test results, and also sent me a certificate from the lab and his summary showing the air was clean. Note that Kevin only does the air testing (not the removal) and I used him as a second opinion to ensure the air was clean as asbestos is nothing to mess with! I have had a problem with radon for a long time now and was unable to rectify the problem myself. I…read morecalled SOOS radon and within a short period of time they were at my house assessing the problem. They installed a pipe underneath the slab and vented it along with a fan to the outside. They then placed a radon detection canister in my basement and within three days I sent it to the laboratory for evaluation. The test results came back positive for radon at almost the same percentage as before. SOOS again came out and placed another pipe underneath the slab and installed a larger fan to handle the additional capacity, all the while sealing all points of entry where radon might be seeping in. Again, the results came back positive. Sam once again returned and installed a third pipe through the basement wall and under the slab of the garage. Sam explained that this was rare but worth doing EUREKA!!!!! The last result came back way below the acceptable reading for radon and the problem was solved. Accolades to Sam, Jennifer, Sandy and their entire team for their fortitude and perseverance in resolving this situation. They NEVER gave up on me and pursued this until they reached an acceptable conclusion. I would recommend SOOS in a heartbeat and would give them six out of five stars. They were clean, neat and left the basement as clean as when they found it. RADON FREE!!!!
