Finally an outdoor patio you can dine at during the Chicago winter and not freeze! Even with parts of the ceiling exposed to the elements, it was still warm enough to take off our jackets. I'm not really sure how they do it, but whatever they did, it works! And it still felt safer than dining inside. Chips and guac were delicious. My wife and I each got three tacos and all were outstanding. My wife raved about the fish taco claiming it to be her favorite one. And I thought the pork was one of the best tacos I've ever had. The only knock I have on this place is their bloody mary was pretty underwhelming. I figured for weekend brunch it would have the bacon, cheese, etc. But only came with a pickle. Had high hopes for this place, and they were exceeded! This was the first restaurant we have visited since October due to covid and I felt completely safe when we went on Thursday at 4:30. The back patio does have free flowing outdoor air, but still provides warmth with heated floors and overhead heaters. The sweet potato taco, carrot pastor, and lychee cocktail were my favorites. Tried this place while visiting family in chicago. Has a hip atmosphere, decor is artistic and fun. Waiters and bussers are friendly and diligent in providing service . The mussels are amazing and I order them everywhere, comes with tortillas that are perfect for soaking up the delicious sauce. The ceviche, flautas, chicken tacos, shrimp and fish tacos all fantastic they put there own spin on a mexican staple and made it their own. Drinks are strong and well prepared. Pilsen yards seems like a good spot and hopefully one day I'll return but as for right now it's a mediocre restaurant to me. I had a reservation for 4 that I booked well in advance however, I wanted to extend that party to 6. The restaurant accommodated but we had to sit at the bar. That's fine no problem for me. We ordered round after round of drinks, had great conversation, and listened to some good music. Unfortunately, when we attempted to order food, we were told we couldn't. I was a bit shocked to hear this since we came here for food and drinks and we were very very hungry. I've heard good things about the food so obviously I wanted to try SOMETHING. I was told they could not accommodate us and our reservation time ended (we were there for about an hour) and that we needed to grab our checks and go. Seemed a bit off to me. I was very disappointed about this place since was really excited when I booked a res a month ago. Hopefully next time I'll be able to order food. Overall drinks were ok and service was good. There was a DJ so that was really really fun. This place might get 5 stars next time I go depending on the food but as for right now, there's nothing special to me about this place. read more

Loved the atmosphere and the food. Heated floors certainly make for a more comfortable dining experience on the patio. Huge beautiful bar with plenty of seating. Food was delicious. We had a few fish and shrimp tacos, corn tamales, and a fish ceviche. Also ordered a few drinks off the drink menu... let's just say we were feeling GREAT after a few. With a heated floor, you'd never know you were eating outdoors in February. I was able to enjoy a cold cocktail, of which I ordered two , without fear of freezing. And then THE SALSA! I was here for my best friends birthday celebration. Honest, everything was amazing and everyone was so kind to begin with when serving the party at the reserved area. We had so much fun and all the staff was super patient (especially with a kinda big party, during peak hours, and during a pandemic. BRAVO!) But, my experience completely changed when the party was over and just a few of us were left, waiting for a car. I went over to the bar after everything was cleaned up to get a last drink for the birthday gal and I. Bartenders all seemed to be busy and I totally understand that and have worked in hospitality, restaurant work and retail (meaning I get when things are busy and am super understanding when staff gets caught up). BUT, I had about 3 different bartenders pass me by when I was obviously waiting for a drink. I started just chatting with a fellow patron after about 10 minutes of standing there and waiting (all while not even being acknowledged, at all. Not even a, "we will be with you soon", whatever though). I did have a beer can I was still working on when I came up to the bar and finished whilst waiting. Still chatting with my new friend, I started distractedly and lightly tapping the can on the counter. THAT finally got the attention of a bartender who seemed to enjoy coming up to me and cussing me out, talking about "WE'RE BUSY! I SEE YOU! YOU DON'T NEED TO TAP YOUR FUCKING CAN ON MY BAR!" I was so startled and had already had a good time with a few drinks...I was speechless. He raised his voice at me and completely came at me aggressively for absolutely no reason, I was super startled, embarrassed, and heartbroken. I never want service people to feel disrespected because of me and I was just...I can't even explain. Will never come back to this place on my own volition. Or even otherwise. So, the place is cavernous and at this hour it was free of scalawags gadding about. There were many empty areas gathering dust. The teenage maitre D' felt immediately inclined to inquire whether we had a reservation. We found this perplexing with the plethora of vacant areas before us. However, we continued our plodding forward valiantly seeking libations. Anyway, we sat at the indoor bar after being informed the outdoor bar had attained its maximum. Anyway, we settled our haunches at the interior bar and waited for the bar staff to notice our dignified presences. The staff seemed quite intensely engaged with one another and there was much clamoring together and heads being thrown back in self pleased assurances. The clock strode forward for a significant stretch, but at last they broke the spell they had amongst one another and mumbled something to my posse. I believe it was something about not placing my diminutive shoulder bag upon the bar proper. After this difficult to understand utterance, the barkeep disappeared and was reunited with his besties on the other side of the bar. After some additional passage of time, he wandered back over inquiring about our beverage desirances. We conveyed our choices to the barkeep and proceeded to drink our libations. We spoke to the teenage maitre D' once again , regarding the obtaining of a table, to ingest some provisions. We were informed that we could have a table for 30 minutes and then we would need to depart from the table. Anyway, I fear I must sum up, as this review is getting too protracted. So um, Twas very loud and quite corporate feeling, with intermittent twinges of self satisfaction perhaps from the staff , (although not the waitress or maitre D' ) throughout the establishment. I had a Mezcal margarita and my wife had a Mango Margarita.. but it was a fancier name. My 1st drink came In a broken glass... however it tasted good, it was smoky and strong. So I didn't mind the flavor, the 2nd drink was less smoky and just as strong, either was they were good and priced right. For my partner in crime she got buzzed on the 1st and only 1.. need I say more? However they went down smooth. Service was a little slow but it was good service. This place got a sweet outdoor patio. I used to come here when it was Monnie Burkes. This place accommodated us for a last minute party of 9 on a Saturday morning for brunch. Drinks are overall pretty good, but the brunch was just okay. I had the burger with egg and it was mediocre at best. A very average burger for that matter to be honest. We also had the fish and shrimp taco which was nothing to bring home about as well. The shrimp ceviche on the other hand was pretty good. Probably my favorite thing here out of all the stuff we tried. Honestly, I will probably come back here to enjoy some drinks and maybe give other things a try! read more

Had the joy of going here for a wedding. Unbelievably amazing and wonderful. Food was out of this world, varied and delicious and creative and exceptionally ample. Beautifully presented, just great. Plenty of veg options as well as meat and fish, all just fantastic. Staff were attentive, responsive, delightful. The place is beautifully laid out, huge patio with heaters if needed, perfect when eating outdoors is preferred as it is right now. Also a great venue for a band and dancing. I was so excited to come here. I mean it was a beautiful sunny day and the weather was great. We mad reservations and was on our way. Let me say this decor was beautiful and I really liked it. The staff was nice and friendly, but this is where the positive ends. We ordered a pitcher full of drinks. We got it and with light ice. We got a pitcher halfway full. Like what?? The waitress said it because it was light ice, but it had ice as well but was soo low for $41?? We ordered tacos and was disappointed to find out there was no rice or beans. We also had to pay for simple salsa and chips.That was crazy. Tacos tasted ok.Food was decent, drinks was just ok but not worth all that money. Please reconsider. read more

I give this place a 3 for food, as everything we tried was very standard, not great not bad. However, if I was rating on just service I'd give it a 1. I have never experienced staff so blatantly trying to rush diners out and turn over the table so quickly before. I came with a friend on a weekday at 5 o'clock, we had a reservation. I was called twice to confirm I was still coming, and was sent a text message just before the res to confirm again that I was coming. Based on this I expected the place to be packed, yet there was probably 90% open seating still as it was early in the evening. We were told of the 90 minute time limit when we were seated, which we would have been out in that time anyway. We ordered some margaritas, they were solid. Also got some apps including the shrimp ceviche and sweet tamales, didn't really care for their shrimp the tamales were good. We ordered a few different tacos for dinner and the food came very quickly before we had finished the apps. Our server, as well as other staff tried multiple times to clear our apps and drinks away although we were clearly still eating and nowhere near the 90 minute mark. It made for a pretty uncomfortable experience being surrounded by open tables and we literally have to keep telling them to please leave our plates as we are still enjoying our meal. We were trying to talk, catch up over some drinks and a meal, but instead it became laughable and awkward as we struggled to rush to finish our food before they cleared our table. We would have ordered another round of drinks and spent more money but at that point we just wanted to leave as we were continuously being hounded. This is a nice place with a pretty patio area, but given there are so many other authentic options in the area with much better customer service I won't be back. read more
