We are so fortunate to have a place like Birrieria Zaragoza in our city. Their customer service has always been outstanding. They truly go above and beyond to make sure they deliver great customer service. They'll do little things like offer you a free taco of their Birria while you wait for your food. Go to any market in Mexico and they'll treat you the exact same. Unfortunately for them their original Southside location is closed due to a fire but they'll be back hopefully soon! My son and daughter both ordered their Birria Tacos, my wife ordered their Quesabirria tacos and I ordered their Tazon Chico of their carnaza Birria of course. It also came with a side of their handmade tortillas. Everything tasted so fresh and the Birria was very delicious. So much flavor in the consome. Ordering the tazon is definitely they way to go here because you get the meat in the consome. But if you wanted meat only, you have the option of ordering their plato instead. I wouldn't rely on grabbing a quick meal here because whoever staffs the single register has to deal with phone calls, dine-in customers, and to-go customers at the same time. I have been wanting to try this place for a long time, so yesterday I decided to make the drive since the one on the south side closes early. The inside is small and almost reminded me of a diner. It wasn't fancy or anything, but it was clean and gave a familiar vibe. You order at the register, and they give you the food over the counter. The workers were nice and gave good explanations of what I was ordering. The food was BOMB. I've only ever had quesabirria tacos, so I ventured out to try something different. This is an outstanding birrieria that actually uses goat meat instead of the birria de res you find in most cities. I ordered the plato de cabeza which essentially is a plate of shredded goat's head. Orders come with a bowl of consome which you will want to use as well as a number of corn tortillas. The goat head is mixed with a flavorful combination of spices, and the goal here is to shove as much of that into a tortilla and dip it into the consome for an absolutely ridiculous flavor explosion with each bite. The interior of this restaurant is tiny with clean steel counters. Friendly service and prices are a bit higher than I generally have seen for birria, but this is some of the best I've had (including Texas) so it's worth it to me. I remember that I only ordered two (2) birria tacos, with one (1) being cabeza. However, I ended up receiving three (3) tacos and thought they made a mistake! Well, I would appreciate anything gratis. In addition, I was treated with a bottle of apple soda (Sidral Mondet). I was on my postpartum diet and purposefully discontinued the consumption of sweetened beverages. Nevertheless, thank you for the treat and I always finished anything that was given to me...lol! My partner is quite familiar with Mexican food, yet I didn't think he used to have birria often (at least I didn't assume so). He liked what he had. It looked like "Birrieria Zaragoza" made it to our go-to restaurant list whenever we would be out and about. We had it again via Uber Eats on one of the weekends. There are days I literally crave it either as a taco or a soup. The consume with that goat meat is to die for. I love when I go in there and place an order, I get a free taco while waiting. I can't quite describe the tortillas, but they are corn and on the chewy side, but that is not a bad thing, The texture somehow works with the meat. The meat itself is so tender and flavorful, just amazing. I always want to eat more cause my eyes are bigger than my stomach, but two will be enough unless you have not eaten all day. Usually what I end up doing is getting rice/beans and guacamole from Lindo Guadalajara to make a meal. The quesadilla is very good with goat meat in it and that goat head meat is on a whole different level. This is a no frills place that only does a few items, but they do the soooo well! And the place is clean...happen to be driving past there early one Saturday morning and saw two young ladies scrubbing down the big pots and the grill. The staff is amazing and very friendly as well. They always greet me coming and going and are so sweet. The only drag about this place is the parking since it is on Broadway. Group of friends and I stopped by this place because of all the hype and we can say it's justified- easily going on the list of one of my top restaurants.
