    Chicken quesadilla
    Crystal C.

Came here with a group and left feeling a bit underwhelmed, especially for the price point. We started with the guac, which was $16 for a pretty small bowl. It was actually tasty and the chips came out warm, which I appreciated, but there just was not much of it. Hard to justify that price for the portion. For mains, we ordered a mix of tacos including the Wagyu, al pastor, and campechano, plus a chicken quesadilla to share. Since the handcrafted tacos ranged from $7 to $9 each, I was expecting something more elevated, but they honestly tasted like pretty standard tacos. The Wagyu taco was the most disappointing because it did not taste like Wagyu at all. The campechano taco actually had a stronger, beefier flavor and ended up being my favorite out of everything we tried. The al pastor was fine, but not really worth $7, and the other two tacos definitely did not feel worth $9. The chicken quesadilla was also just okay. It was cheesy and the chicken was juicy, but it felt like the filling got a bit lost in all the cheese, so it did not stand out much. One thing that rubbed me the wrong way was that they automatically added a 20% gratuity. It might have been because we had a party of five, but this is not a particularly high end restaurant, and being required to pay a set tip amount felt off. We also did not order that much. It was more of a light dinner, yet the bill still came out to around $170. Overall, the food was decent, but the pricing felt steep for what you get. Between the average tacos, small portions, and automatic gratuity, it just did not feel like the value matched the cost.

Cruz Blanca's from the moment Andrea greeted us we fell in love with Cruz Blanca Taquería & Brewery. The laid back relaxed atmosphere was welcomed, and the authentic but eclectic food made this an incredibly enjoyable evening.

This place being a 3.7 is honestly a crime I was in town for the Shamrock Shuffle and stopped in for a drink and dinner--best decision of the weekend. Eric, the manager, was super friendly and made me a Ritual Margarita that deserves its own fan club. I don't even know what magic is in that thing, but I'd come back just for that alone. And the carnitas tacos.... Fresh tortillas, perfectly seasoned meat. We ordered 5 and then devoured them and had to order more! Highly recommend. Do yourself a favor and help bump this rating up where it belongs.

Wandering in west loop and was craving guac and chips so I stopped at Cruz Blanca Brewery. I should've bypassed this place. The service members barely acknowledged me throughout my visit. I was served guac with dirt on top (literally). They replaced the dirty guac with another bowl that had chunks so big, I couldn't eat it all. The salsa was ok. But, definitely won't return. They need a health inspection asap.

    Oysters, $2/ea on happy hour

Good service, came for a quick bite and sat at the bar. They had happy hour and the oysters were recommended. Came with a pre-made sauce I could easily splash on which I liked as opposed to the basic coctail or horseradish sauces

Such a great place! Small but intimate! We walked right in and got seated even though it was packed! The hostess and server were so kind! We had beer and fries! They were good! Can't wait to come back and eat!!!

The ambiance sitting outside was nice especially during the summertime and the food was good. I would say one of the dips for the chips and salsa was really salty. The food came out really quick once we ordered and it was great for sharing with two people. Really liked how our server was very attentive in checking up on us and the manager as well. The shrimp taco was not very crispy which made the taco a little soft but it was filled with flavors. I will be coming back to try other things on their menu like the burrito and other tacos. There was just a little wait before we got seated but wasn't long.

Super busy neighborhood but such a cute little bar and outdoor seating area. Went for my birthday and had such a nice time. Griselda was our server and she was great. Took care of myself and friends considering she was pretty busy with other tables. I tried the peach IPA which I LOVED. The bar messed up and sent the lime and salt beer mistakenly but we didn't have to pay which was nice. The food was good but served tapas style. I'd definitely go again.

    Quesadilla, fish taco and margarita
    Mayra L.

I personally don't think paying $12 for a simple quesadilla is worth it, it had very little chorizo that was charge extra and it tasted just okay. In the other hand, the fish taco was really good! It was the special for Friday's and I think I pay $6 for it. We got 2 margaritas, one mango and one pineapple and they were good but there was more ice in my cup than the actual drink. I won't be coming back because I found myself very lucky I can cook this food at home and to me going out to eat should be a new experience or at least good food and this was not it. Our server tho, she was excellent and so the staff!

Delicious food very Mexican style. The way to serve it. The way the stage the food using plantain leaves. Tacos, chips sauces, meet, customer service and music!! Favorite place to escape at Chicago from Now on.

    Nachos!
    Paula W.

Great spot, we were seated immediately. I ordered nachos and the barbacoa taco, both were flavorful and delicious. I will say service was a bit slow for a Friday night but order a few drinks and the wait will be worth it.

Originally planned to visit the restaurant next door, but the vibes outside drew me in. Started with the brisket nachos, and they were incredible--the homemade tortilla chips were a standout. Also tried the tacos, which were good, but the nachos definitely stole the show. They have outdoor and indoor seating and the waiter was attentive. Overall, a happy accident and a great meal!

They played good music and wasn't too loud. You could easily carry on a conversation or , like me, continue listening to a podcast. By the time I finished, the place was completely full and a bit noisy, but not bad. I started out with a 10oz Birds of Prey Pilsner. It was very nice. Light and crisp and very easy to drink. I followed that up with Melodious Maibock and ordered the CBG burger with fries. I didn't have lunch so I dove right in and forgot to snap a photo. It was a very good smash burger. It was cooked well and I really liked the combination of pickled onion and caramelized onion. I didn't see it until later but you can add bacon. As much as I loved this burger, bacon would totally take it up a notch! I started chatting with the bartender about their different beers and decided to have the Super Melodious Jalapeño Maibock with the burger. It's soooo different, but in a good way. It paired so well with the burger. You get green bell pepper on the nose and a hint of it on the palate. When you swallow you get a little heat at the back of the throat. It was so good! Great bar. Great food. Great beer. Go check them out!

Bar service can get a little backed up depending on how crowded the place is...one time I was there, the bar was so crowded that I couldn't flag down a server long enough to place a food order so, before I left, I placed my food order to go using the mobile route. Whatever, I didn't care. I'm pretty chill. Anyway, burger was still good when I walked it back to my hotel. When the place isn't slammed, service is like night and day and the place is a bit more quiet. Pop on in if you want to try some good beer, a tasty burger or other pub fare.

They make more than you can believe which is impressive because there's all kinds of crowds who pass through. For sure everyone wants beer. It's $6 a pint at happy hour. Pretty great for craft beers compared to lots of places it seems. Best one we got was the Bucket Hat. This is a Belgian style witbier. Has notes of bubble gum, coriander, and orange. The food isn't an afterthought so get some of that. It's about $18 for a burger. Vegans have options. Certainly one of these is the Veggie Burger. This is an amazing thing with a spinach patty topped with chipotle tomato marmalade, cremini mushrooms, mixed greens, pickled red onions, and sweet potatoes. All on a fluffy ciabatta bun. The rest of the menu contains meaty stuff. For sure it feels like a place for the hipsters but it's pretty great for anyone. Our seat allowed both of us to have a view of the kitchen window to watch the chefs prep courses. There were 3-4 servers that serviced the entire dining room and rotated in presenting dishes. They started with warm towelettes to wash your hands which was a nice touch. Service level throughout was impeccable with water refills, explaining the menu, delightful demeanor, fresh silverware per course, and wiping the table clean from anything that dropped. This was certainly one of the best hospitality levels at a one star I've experienced. Dinner was 12 courses including the amuse-bouche and final treats. In no way does it merit standing in line and it sure is not worth the $2.50/pp reservation fee that is not credited to your bill. That's just an obnoxious money grab. The atmosphere is dark, crowded, and a little noisy. In other words, bar-like. Service is good. No real complaints beyond asking for my burger with sauce on the side, being assured they would do that, and then having to scrape off the sauce that came on the burger. Okay, the food. The burgers are fine. Hardly life changing and not even the best in the city but definitely good. Worth the price? I doubt it. My dining partner liked the chopped liver starter (which came well after the burger) and the hash browns with duck heart gravy. I was much less impressed. I was confused by the "chopped" liver. Next to an immense pile of cornichons was a heap of large, again barely seasoned, diced liver pieces coated in a white sauce that the server told me was schmaltz. I make my own schmaltz and it has never been thick, white, and having no chicken flavor at all. Maybe they used a few drops of chicken fat to make a mayo? I don't know, but it certainly is a different take on chopped liver. The hash browns were piping hot and crispy but the potatoes themselves were badly underseasoned. The duck heart gravy was nice but the dish really didn't need the slightly congealed white cream gravy that adding nothing but more fat. If you're thinking about bacon, get it on the burger, not on the side. By itself it's way too sweet and peppery. On the burger, it works. Which brings me to... Food sensitivities. You will be asked about allergies and I'm sure you will be accommodated but you may not be happy with the results. The components of the dishes do not stand well on their own. They're clearly meant to be eaten together. Because so much egg and dairy is used in so many places if you want to avoid either your dish might be very suboptimal. So while it's okay it's a one and done for me. I'll stay with Small Cheval (very close in taste, much better value) or Burger Bar.
