The first official stop in Louisville to see the wedding party and the groom and bride to be -- what an experience! Not only did we dress like it was a derby, but the vibes of the place were really cool! It was somewhat hidden like a speakeasy, but the twist is that they have a bowling alley! I have no idea how much it costs since no one was playing, but in all my years I have never heard of or seen a bowling alley in a speakeasy before. How cool is that?! My hunch is that it was inherited from whatever the space was before. Anyways, we got to try a bunch of hor d'oeuvres, like sliders, salad, mini desserts, etc. Everything was great -- and there were some designated / themed cocktails & mocktails we could grab for the duration of our time there. The staff were friendly and helpful. And I recall notifying them that we needed more plates and napkins, and they were quick to replace them! Some folks stayed for a long time and started paying for drinks -- whew, those babies are expensive! I stuck to water. I was excited to relax in the speakeasy after a long day of running around. I'm no stranger to the concept & have visited several that were truly the bee's knees! Here, the first thing that comes to mind is "identity crisis". We entered the wide open doors with a nod to security & came face to face with a speaker blasting old school hip hop. We already thought the sports bar & bowling in the same space was peculiar, now we've added nightclub to the mix. While any of these components work well individually, they do not a cool eclectic mix make. We settled in for our usual people watching and were given menus at about the 20min mark. Our server frequently checked on us until 3 wedding parties showed up. They were slammed, no kidding 10-12 deep at the bar. When we closed out, it took us a while to get the bill, then the credit card didn't come back, another 30min there. We weren't in a big hurry, so, not a huge deal. If you are in a bit of a rush, you may want to have a plan. Our drinks were decent, though not spectacular. When you're dropping good money on drinks, you expect them to be memorable. This is such a darling little place within The Omni Hotel. My coworkers and I decided to have a nightcap after a long day at the NACADA Conference and we were glad we did! There's a 4 lane bowling alley that costs $100 per hour to play. Not a bad price if you split it 4 or 5 ways. We didn't play but we enjoyed watching! The drinks were nice and I loved the ambiance! The drink menu was on the front and back of a bourbon bottle. Cute touch! However, my manager ordered the float and sting drink and hated it, but my coworker had an almeretta sour and we thought she may have needed a moment alone and a cigarette! I was first introduced to this place while attending a Yelp event and always wanted to come back. I had family in town for my graduation and thought this was a perfect place for a night cap. No reservations needed. This is supposed to be a speakeasy, but is fairly easy to find inside the Omni hotel. Seating is first come first served unless you are opting to bowl. Bowling requires reservations and is definitely on the pricier side. If I remember correctly it's roughly $50-70 for an hr. Drinks are slightly on the pricey side as well but delicious. Cool venue, crummy service. I like the speakeasy feel and the tunes. Even the bowling lanes are cool and not terribly loud. The service is grudging and inattentive; the bartender gave me a menu and pointed me to sit at a nearby booth, saying she would send a server to take my order, but none ever came after 30 minurptes despite my being clearly visible to the staff. Neat place, great if you're in town an expense report (two basic vodka gimlets) were $15...each! And for that price you could barely taste the vodka. We also had the shrimp cocktail appetizer ($14). Four jumbo shrimp that were soaked in cocktail sauce that was mostly ketchup. The shrimp themselves were tasty, once we scraped off all the excess sauce. What if we wanted them sans sauce, or just as an accent? Aesthetically the area is very pleasing, and offered four dimly lit (which we liked) bowling alleys next to the bar. It can get a little loud if multiple games are being played, but for us only two lanes were active. Love the location, the layout, and the ambiance. Sip your drink without haste or rush, and enjoy the speakeasy / high-end ($100/hr) bowling alley atmosphere. Surprisingly, it doesn't get terribly loud until very large (and usually already drunk) groups show up. Pin and Proof even offers VIP alcoves for a fee, which look to seat up to 20 people or so...and it's much quieter beyond those gold ropes. This is the perfect spot to relax, meet a friend, have a before or after dinner drink, or bowl a game without children present. So it sounds like my review is going to be a lot similar to others, which should probably tell you something about Pin + Proof. I have been here for a Yelp event as well as during my stay at the Omni. I thought I really enjoyed this place during the event, but after coming for a real experience, I was left somewhat disappointed. Pin + Proof is labeled as a speakeasy bowling alley. This term itself does not even make sense, as you cannot have a quiet lounge bar while people are slamming bowling balls to the ground every other minute. It was annoying trying to enjoy ourselves at the table while loud sounds at the bowling area kept occurring. I will say that their bartenders know how to make fantastic drinks. I'm okay paying a few extra bucks for it if their going to make it that well. This bar is also gorgeous, and I love the vintage 20's theme that it has going on. What disappointed me primarily was that it was $100 to bowl. Yeah, I can't believe it either.. Like, I don't understand why? The space is already cramped, the lanes are tiny and there is nothing more special about it than any other bowling alley. I was lucky to be able to bowl for free during the Yelp event hosted, so I was able to get a taste of what it was like. Do they jack the prices up just because it's in the Omni? Even if I did have that kind of money to blow, I would still find it unbearably silly. I really wanted to like this place, but it seems to be suffering from an identity crisis. Billed as a Speakeasy, it's tucked around a corner near the lobby of the Omni hotel. But it's also a bowling alley. And apparently a sports bar (at least on the night that I visited). And the drinks are pricey. I ducked in recently with a friend after an event downtown to cap off the evening. We had parked nearby and had wanted to check the place out, and figured that it would be the perfect opportunity to stop by. Initially I loved the grotto-like feel of the place. It's on the first floor but feels like it's underground. There are several nooks with cozy seating, adding to the speakeasy vibe. Down a few stairs there are several bowling lanes. We sidled up to the bar and ordered our standby of an Old Fashioned. The bartender quickly mixed them up and delivered them with a flourish and a twist of both orange and lemon. They were good, but I've had ones that were just as good for half of the $16 price tag. We were lucky enough to snag one of the comfy nooks, and enjoyed hanging out. But the noise of the bowling lanes and several large parties watching sports games on the big screens (yes, big screen TVs in a speakeasy) made visiting a little tough. We finished our one drink and headed out. I would say to check this place out if you're curious, but for a true speakeasy vibe, there are other places in town that do a better job of delivering that ambiance. read more

It was absolutely delicious and well worth the price. We also order the meatballs during one of our visits . The portion size was huge and they had wonderful flavor. Our first visit to the Omni and I stopped by for a couple of drinks with friends. Pin & Proof was our second stop after learning The Library had a last call at 11:30p. The dimmed lights, decor and design of the building is interesting and fun to take in while sitting with friends. The 4 bowling lanes are tucked into one side of the building, out of the way from the bar and other seating. We didn't have an issue getting seated and were happy to learn a server would come by to see us, letting us off the hook to stand in line at the bar. Each table displays a bottle and a menu is displayed, one side food and another side drinks. Cocktails are on the high side - $16 plus tip for my old fashion. Thankfully it was strong, which caused me to sip the drink and make it last longer, because it was a small pour. Don't get excited by the size of your glass. Your drink will only fill it up midway. Several other reviews mention the volume of noise at Pin & Proof. They are not wrong. It is incredibly loud and at some points it felt like I was yelling across the table to have conversation with my friends. I can't imagine how loud it would've been if a group was bowling! Toward the end of the evening, one of the bartenders whistled and shushed guests at the bar. This didn't go over well. Tensions rose and words were exchanged, like "so you can't talk loud at this bar?!" It prompted my group to cash out and exit. Depending on the crowd, I'm sure your experiences at Pin & Proof will vary, but I am giving it a 3rd star only because our server was friendly and truly trying to engage with us. For a calmer, quieter time, take your drink and sit in The Library. Small side note - with such an interesting space, I made a special visit to the bathroom and was disappointed in how boring it is. ***WARNING*** The bowling is not free. I come from an area where the games are free as long as you are having a drink or eating their food. NOT here! There is absolutely no signage to indicate that there is a fee to bowl, no ropes on the lanes, no ropes in the area where said VIP seating is located, no nothing! That being said the bar was pretty cool. It's setup like a speakeasy, but no password is needed. The drinks were good, but extremely pricey at $15 each. Back to the bowling. Since there was no indication that the bowling was not free I grabbed a ball, and tossed it down the lane. Some guy comes out of nowhere and starts yelling at me. He clearly didn't know how to use his words as all he could say was "you gotta get out of here!" and then he started pushing me. What?!? I left as I didn't understand what his issue was. I called the next day to speak with a manager to find out what the deal was. Evidently there is a fee to bowl. I don't know what the fee was as she never said, and neither does their website. Per Yelp reviews, it's $100/hour, yikes!! She sort of apologized, but never took ownership of the issue and didn't make me feel like she cared at all. She claimed that corporate won't allow them to post prices for the bowling. That is odd as there were menus all over the place with food and drink prices clearly listed. I was in here with a friend just last week on a whim, we stopped in the Pin + Proof before dinner--around 6:30 or so on a Thursday. The place was quiet so we sat at the bar without issue. Went down to meet a group of friends for a celebration. We arrived early to order appetizers only to find no appetizers are being served during covid. We looked online earlier that day and the menu was posted with nothing stating anywhere they were not serving food during covid. We were directed to Bob's next door where we had 2 salads, 2 appetizers, a martini, and a diet coke for $119 dollars. Ouch! Stopped by the ladies room to find no TP in either stall. Upon enter P&P I told the bartender there was no TP in the ladies room and she said she would call housekeeping. The service at P&P was VERY slow, not friendly, and the drinks were terrible. How hard is it to screw up a dirty martini?? An hour later went back to the bathroom and there was still NO TP. We paid our bill at P&P, four drinks, $77 after tip. At the least, if I am going to be overcharged for drinks and food, could we at least have some TP? For those prices you should be able to spare a square! read more

In spring 2018 I booked a couple of bowling lanes at pin and proof for my wedding night after party (October 2018) because I heard it fills up quickly on the weekend. My friends start showing up after the wedding to be seated in the reserved area and are treated like ABSOLUTE garbage by the manager of pin & proof, Jason. I start getting calls about this guy (I'm still at my wedding venue) about how rude he's being and telling my friends they can't just walk in on a Saturday night and expect service. When I arrive I go straight to the manager and show him my email chain reserving my space. He offers NO apology and says "well it's not my fault". ARE YOU KIDDING ME? as if it is still somehow my fault. He eventually offers to give us a lane and pay for my drinks but his attitude never changed. I didn't even want anything "free", I just wanted him to be kinder and apologetic to my friends. He was one of the most arrogant and unprofessional people I've ever dealt with in my life. I actually had guests leave because he was so nasty and I didn't get a chance to explain what happened. It just made me look like I irresponsibility didn't reserve the space. A must see!...and sip! Finally got in on a Saturday afternoon when they opened. The hours posted said 4pm, but they opened at 12pm on a Saturday. Manager said they are being flexible and still figuring things out so hours may vary for the next few months. Kids are allowed until 8pm. Bowling can be rented for 100 dollars an hour. You get shoes, private table and a server. We've made reservations for a later date this month to take some friends. Bar tender was very personable and friendly. Hostess was also very sweet and accommodating. Can't wait to get back! Also, they do have a small appetizer menu that doesn't start until 4pm. I really enjoy going to Pin and Proof! The atmosphere is an old 1920s speakeasy which I enjoyed. Also liked the televisions in case there's a game on. I usually get the French 75 here and it's amazing! However, I don't come to Pin and Proof more often because of the price- both the drinks and bowling alley are out of my general price range. It's also not very large so I wouldn't suggest coming here with a party larger than 6. However, it's perfect for a special occasion with a small group!
